  1. From Princess forum on that other site, Captain announced ship was now Tier 3. Cruisers due to board the ship today, were advised that boarding had been delayed by four hours with all aboard at 7pm (from Princess forum on other site)
  2. Remembrance Day here yesterday. Sydney Opera House sails had poppies for the dawn services and then again in the evening. Photo courtesy of RSL NSW (returned services league) At 11am we pause to remember the service of Australians who have served our country past and present. Lest we forget.
  3. DD just bought these old postcards from an antique shop. All are US states she has visited & the only English postcard which happens to be where her grandad is from.
  4. Beautiful weather. Wind only on the very final climb to the summit. They didn’t regret wearing shorts because they were constantly moving but fingerless gloves would have been handy. Oh, and DS should have applied more sunscreen on the back of his legs….
  5. Meanwhile, this was me 😀 Being kept company by the owners dog earlier in the morning After dinner, daughter and I had our usual walk around the property seeing 30+ kangaroos, deer running through the bush & emus in the distance. Our favourite photo though.
  6. From there, it was snow shoes back on and poles ready for the final climb to the summit. And a couple of celebratory beers to mark the occasion.
  7. Their next landmark was Rawson Pass at the base of the final climb to the summit and the location of Australia’s highest toilet block. Thankfully they weren’t desperate to use the toilets here….
  8. After 12kms, they reached Seaman’s Hut, an emergency shelter. This hut was built in 1929 by the family of a skier who perished in a blizzard. As you can see they were blessed by gorgeous weather on their hike.
  9. The kiddos plan was to leave our cottage around 6am. As I wasn’t joining them, I wished them well the night before. I woke before them both though and decided to go for a very early walk around the property to see the sunrise and kangaroos etc. As the kiddos were getting ready, DD looked out the glass doors and said to DS “who is that weird woman out walking by herself”- in the distance…”OMG it’s mum!” 😂😂😂
  10. Yesterday, my kiddos plan was to hike Australia’s highest mountain, Mt Kosciusko at 2228 metres. There are 3 ways to hike to the Summit. The most popular is to catch the Chairlift from Thredbo then hike the rest of the way - 13kms in approx 4-5hrs. The most scenic is to hike from Charlotte Pass. 18.6kms and 6-8hrs. They chose the scenic route and again due to the recent heavy snowfall they needed to check in with the Tourist Info centre to make sure they were able to hike to the summit in the conditions. They were told the weather would be ideal for them but due to the heavy snow cover, they would need to hire snow shoes and ski poles. From Rawsons Pass, it is usually a slow circular climb in the spring/summer months but given the heavy snow, they were advised to walk up vertically straight up to the summit across the snow.
  11. Hi Carol, GST is Goods & Services Tax. We pay 10% on goods and services bought/supplied in Australia (with some exemptions). Prices on his website are in AUD and include GST. He has a physical gallery in Cooma (45 mins from Jindabyne) and he specialises in photos of the Snowy Mountains region. His online shop photos are of birds, dingoes, horses, eagles & raptors, monotremes (such as Echidnas), Kangaroos & Wallabies, Night time creatures such as possums and sugar gliders, landscapes and of course wombats. There is a range of wombat in the snow photos. Ours is Guthega Wombat 2. Its says on his website to make an email enquiry for overseas purchases. The tourist place had a beautiful coffee table book. I almost bought it. Only realised when I was looking at his online site just now that it contains his photos… Good luck with the sale & the move and hopefully having a Wombat in the snow photo on your wall in the future.
  12. Is there an email address you can contact him on? Sorry, DH did the ordering of it so I don’t know the specifics. A smaller framed print is $1600aud by the same photographer- Charles Davis - in the visitors centre here in Jindabyne.
  13. Yep. The media is warning of a new sub variant that is currently circulating here…perfect timing…just before DD and I go on a 7 day cruise. I managed to dodge the bullet on my recent 3 day cruise but the likelihood of me getting Covid on the next one is high…at least I will have time to recover before Christmas Day.
  14. If he loves cruising as much as you do, I see you cruising together again in the future and I look forward to your combined live with ozardkid. Should be a fun read!
  15. Sorry, cc is being super glitchy plus I’m on 4G. Will reply later to any responses and catch up on everyone’s posts. I’ll just wrap up yesterday’s walk which was glorious: This snowbank went upwards so wearing only sneakers, DS held my hand tightly on the way back down so I didn’t slip. At the end of the walk were lots rocks. The National Parks info lady here told us to make sure we continued on here through the rocks. DS decided to climb one…note the neat slice at the top of the boulder on the left… Views were stunning as promised We then found a spot next to the boulders on the soft grass to relax and have muesli bars etc before heading back down. This spot gave me “Picnic at Hanging Rock” vibes…@seadog have you seen this Australian film? Very atmospheric and great use of a particular type of music (no drums though). Had a helicopter fly above us on our way back down. Not sure if scenic or rescue. Lots of streams and the water was crystal clear and icy cold. Thoroughly enjoyed this walk. Thats a wrap for our roadtrip so far. DS has his good camera with long lenses for this trip so hopefully I’ll post some more photos on our return.
  16. The lady recommended a walk in the NP that none of us had come across in our research. She said it was very picturesque, grade 3 and likely to be muddy on the lower levels and windy at the very top - Mud - no probs for the kids who have waterproof hiking shoes. I only have sneakers but I’ve done so many muddy sections of this years walks I wasn’t worried. NP/ski fields are 40 mins from our accommodation. Nice drive. Lovely to see the snow on the mountain tops on the way in. Day was glorious weather. Car temp said 15c. On the hike it felt like 25c.
  17. Now, hiking in Kosciusko National Park is usually in late November onwards but we were restricted with dates so we are here a bit early in the season BUT we weren’t expecting such a heavy dump of snow here a week or so ago, in November. As a result, we needed to go to the Tourist info/NPWS info centre to get current info on what trails are actually open and suitable for us to do. So whilst the “kids” got the info for the lovely staff member, I had a good wander of their large gift shop. Lots of beautiful framed prints from the NP including the wombat in the snow photo we have hanging in our family room. The photographer is based not far from here in Cooma. After seeing the emu family this morning, I couldn’t resist buying this magnet.
