  1. @ReneeFLL Not sure what time you are departing on the 29th but the Opera House Sails will lit up from sunset to 11pm from 19-30 Oct to celebrate its 50 year anniversary. A film & music will be projected on the sails to celebrate past, present & future.
  2. I’ve had that one more than once. Also, the one doing the rounds atm is the Whats App scam that begins with “Hi Mum” and it’s a message that your child has lost their phone & money and urgently needs money sent. Got that one whilst my daughter was overseas. Didn’t fall for it though.
  3. @Lionesss what an experience getting home. Your perseverance paid off. Hope you never have to go through something like that again @A&L_Ont Good timing for your mom’s op & recovery. Glad she is safe in Canada To those in the path of the hurricane, hope your properties don’t suffer any damage & stay safe.
  4. I love seeing photos of old sailing vessels with their masts and many ropes so I enjoyed them too. Pass on the leech bucket. Dad sent me a photo of a leech getting a feed on his friends hand on the weekend. Ewww.
  5. @h20skibum Great themed party and cupcakes. Having their own personal ground to play on is awesome too. Happy Birthday to your grandson
  6. Visited the National Portrait Gallery on our last day in Canberra. As well as the free gallery of painted & photographic portraits, there was a paid exhibition of prize winners with an adult & smaller children’s section. This was my favourite from the 8-11 year age group.
  7. @Momof3gurlz You had gorgeous weather for day in Portland. I’ve never had clam chowder. Hope to try it one day. @h20skibum Congrats to our grandson’s team. It’s great when the underdog team beat the top team but even better when they are all having fun playing together.
  8. @FromSea2ShiningSea hope those meds & the treatment are effective so you can fly to Rome and enjoy your cruise. @dani negreanu those dishes look delicious
  9. You have an excellent memory and yes the Wattle is stunning in Canberra in Spring. We didn’t get to the Australian War Memorial this visit but it is highly regarded.
  10. I remember visiting my relatives in Devon at summertime as a child and i loved the Cornish Pasties, Ploughman Lunches at the pubs and the ice blocks (had a different name I can’t recall)at the pebble beaches and the Devonshire cream teas.
  11. “Connection” Aboriginal art, dance & music at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra by the same people who did Van Gogh Alive.
  12. Australian National Botanic Gardens ( Canberra). Explored for 2hrs when it first opened this morning. So much Wattle. So much Australian flora. So many birds (photo shy) but Birdsong was glorious.
  13. DD & 6 friends were lucky enough to secure highly sought after tickets for the Sydney Swans vs Collingwood Preliminary AFL Final at the SCG last weekend. Unfortunately, they were seated right in the middle of the Collingwood fan section but were absolutely delighted when the Swans won by a nail biting one point. The AFL Grand Final is on in Melbourne today. Impossible to get tickets and flight prices are ridiculous so they are barracking for their favourite team from afar. Came across two swans yesterday whilst walking in Canberra. The Captain Cook memorial jet fountain is in the background.
  14. Currently in Canberra. Day pass is $9.60 and I missed the bus. Ended up using light rail, Uber, my feet, free Floriade shuttle & Light Rail 🤪
  15. Yes, we bought it new. It’s now our son’s car but daughter borrowed it for the camping weekend. We have since bought a new Subaru Impreza. Smaller car but it suits the two of us.
  16. For those of you who own Subaru Outbacks - info you will never need to know - 3 girls can comfortably sleep in one overnight - if a storm comes through whilst camping and the tent floods…
