  1. Geez - lots of hospital visits followed those videos… My brother was telling me his FIL has been banned by his family from using the chainsaw. He managed to nick his leg with chainsaw. He hid his sliced & bloody pants in the bottom of the washing hamper. Didn’t say anything to anyone and then later after dinner, calmly said to his wife, I think you better drive me to the hospital
  2. Their website says Mon-Fri but booking confirmation says daily and we need the shuttle on a weekend and they just said to let them know our boarding time when we know it.
  3. @Lionesss Stay safe. We have a public holiday tomorrow as a National Day of Mourning. The entire east coast is being warned of heavy rain.
  4. What do you guys think of Wahlburgers? We walked past their store at Circular Quay on Saturday at lunchtime and it wasn’t particularly busy.
  5. Today I was the “patient” for an hour during my daughter’s four hour zoom first aid course. 6 participants, one of whom had her young child as her patient and he was very vocal with his “pain” much to his mum’s embarrassment but he followed his mum’s instructions well. Zoom course was excellent. DH & I did a physical course just before my daughter was born. Long overdue for another, since it is recommended you do one every three years. Afterwards, we went out for brunch.
  6. I recently booked online direct with Carnival for Luminosa. Two separate bookings and both times I could select the cabins I wanted. No issues.
  7. Can’t believe all the whining on social media about it not having a whale tale….and given all the whinging about not having water slides, it will be interesting to see the demographics on board the Lumimoooosa (😂)
  8. Just booked the Kingsford Smith Hotel. Booking confirmation advises there is a courtesy shuttle between 7-3 daily to the cruise terminal & drop off shuttle to domestic and international airport. Need to be booked by phone the day before.
  9. It’s not getting a lot of love on the social media groups either. I’m in a couple of Carnival specific cruise groups and the updates on the makeover and the Captain and Cruise Director are getting very little response but lots of excitement for the return of the Splendour.
  10. Thanks for the compliment Sue but the reason we do the walks is because of the books we have bought. Last summer I bought the latest edition of this one and we proceeded to do most of them. Then at the end of summer, DH bought this one for the relatively new Bondi to Manly walk - basically a combination of all the coastal walks we had done in segments to date.
  11. The rest of the walk was glorious with stunning harbour and Northern Beaches views and the water at both Shelley Beach and Manly looked very inviting. The Corso had lots of markets today and it was just gorgeous in Manly itself as it had been all day. DH then informed me had parked up beyond the steepest hill in the next suburb and a few residential streets beyond. So after 10km, we had another hike…Going to work tomorrow to relax (I wish). Historic cemetery at North Head with stunning Sydney Harbour views. Memorial pathway remembering those lost to war. Beautiful memorials in sandstone are beyond this path. Views of the Northern Beaches coastline Beautiful Shelley Beach. Swim, Snorkel or Scuba. A scenic walk from the main Manly Beach.
  12. I love walking through the bush land at North Head, parts of it have steel pathways completely surrounded by low lying heath. Today, it was absolutely filled with wildflowers so it was lovely and because of the wildflowers lots of birds too. We had a lengthy section of the walk to ourselves. DH was a bit behind me when I saw something move. I had been saying to DH that I love the raised pathways because you are unlikely to tread on a snake. The movement was not a snake but a cute echidna. I was delighted and when we told the park staff later they were even more delighted and asked us to submit a photo (side on is best so park staff can identify them by their coloured spines and length of their beak). We watched the Echidna for a while and he checked us out curiously then we continued our walk.
  13. Met up with DH as he wanted to complete his Bondi to Manly walk. Last section is a 10km loop from Manly Wharf up to North Head, down to Shelley Beach and back to Manly Wharf. Very scenic so I joined him. After leaving Manly Wharf, you walk along a beach then up to a reserve that overlooks beautiful Collins Beach then across the beach to the other end then on a very quiet road surrounded by beautiful bush until you reach North Head.
  14. After the race, I hopped on the ferry to Manly. The ferry was between the Heads and Manly when it stopped for about 10mins. I was on the outside deck relaxing in the sun so wasn’t bothered. The people around me exchanged bemused looks. Eventually a very laconic ferry Captain announced “Ah folks, we are not experiencing a mechanical problem, we just need to wait for another ferry at the wharf. It’s a beautiful day just continue to enjoy the fresh air & sunshine and we will dock soon” Ferry waiting in a very calm Sydney Harbour Manly (Harbour side) looking gorgeous this morning
  15. It’s been a beautiful day in Sydney today. Early start as DS ran in his first half marathon. Great course & experience getting to run across a traffic free Sydney Harbour Bridge then on a long scenic route around Sydney and finishing in front of the steps of the Sydney Opera House. Great atmosphere with many people lining the route to cheer them & the subsequent full marathon participants on. He ran 21.1km in 2hrs and 7mins. Better than he expected given he hasn’t done a fun run since primary school and mainly runs at Cricket & Soccer practice. he did regularly run locally in the lead up to today.
  16. Oh my goodness, poor Dick. He must have so confused and exhausted especially with that basket! He’ll never live that one down 😂
  17. If anyone comes to Sydney, highly recommend the Aboriginal Heritage Harbour Tour in the Botanical Gardens. A paid tour, our park staff guide has an Aboriginal grandmother who was born in Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. He was very passionate and informative about early Colonisation and Aboriginal life and language. The Tour only went for an hour but felt longer in a good way. He packed a lot of info in.
  18. I’m a fan of soft luggage cases too. After DD has lost a wheel, had gouges and dents in her hard cases, I said to DS just take my soft case for his recent trip. Came home in perfect condition after multiple flights.
