  1. Meanwhile, we caught the ferry from Manly to Circular Quay. Early ferry, very quiet and the harbour was like a lake. Glorious. Did laps of the outside of the Opera House until our tour started. Did the Architectural Tour of the Opera House. Highlight was seeing the newly renovated Concert Hall. Beautiful! (no photos permitted). We also stepped into the Bennelong Restaurant. We only stepped in on the upper level. When we’ve dined there we sit on the lower level which over looks the harbour on the Bridge side. North Foyer - which with the sun streaming in and all the glass was very warm. Tour takes you inside & outside the Opera House and runs for an hour and you get headsets to hear the guide.
  2. DH is walking from the Harbour Bridge to Manly today. How it started (early this morning) How it’s going (Midday) Rain wasn’t forecast. He is at the midway point in his walk. Lucky he has a change of clothes but no wet weather gear….
  3. @ReneeFLL public transport is recommended. Either train & bus or bus from Circular Quay. Can give you specific info closer to the time.
  4. Just booked a cruise to the Great Barrier Reef with DD (not with Royal). Assuming we don’t get diverted by cyclones/floods, I look forward to sharing photos with you all. Anyone done a GBR cruise? Previously done Kuranda skyrail & sailing day cruise with snorkeling off the boat. Might do Whitehaven beach, sailing to the low isles and snorkeling off an island + something else. Countdown to tropical cocktails starts now 🍹🌴🪸🐠
  5. Dad found a large huntsman (spider) in his house this week. He calmly ushered it out the front door. Thankfully it hasn’t returned because it was the biggest one he has seen for a while. Luckily for you guys, he didn’t think to take a photo.
  6. Your turkeys are so much more impressive than our brush turkeys. Thankfully they don’t climb cars - they just play chicken with the traffic on our roads. Possums on the other hand - car was covered in possum poop pellets the other day.
  7. Keys - we have 2 cars both Subarus and 4 keys being shared by 4 adults. We make it work but we don’t have distinctive key rings as a result and there is always a key floating in my bag. Went to the Subaru mechanic recently to collect car earlier than usual after service. Forgot mechanic leaves key in car console for me so when I paid bill I automatically collected keys on counter as I was paying. Came home, separated keys for DH and I. About half an hour later, I went to go out again and the key I had wouldn’t open car. Realised I had picked up someone else’s key. Drove straight back to mechanic to return key that wasn’t mine. About an hour later, I went to drive our other car, that key wouldn’t open our car either. Realised I had managed to collect two different keys. Back to mechanic again 🤦‍♀️
  8. Just realised you are out of Whale Season…that’s why there is no specific tour no doubt
  9. Geoff, can I ask if Royal offer the Cat Balou Whale Watching cruise at Eden? If so, would you mind advising how much? Interested in comparing Royal’s USD price vs Princess AUD price. Thanks
  10. We are guilty of leaving the dishwasher and washing machine on when not home despite knowing that the firies tell us not to.
  11. @jagsfan Thank goodness you were able to get yourselves out of a that potentially dire situation. Being trapped in a narrow lift by myself is a fear of mine.
  12. Thanks for the heads up on this. Booked it. Flying up from Sydney. Can you locals or regular cruisers from Bris supply suggestions for hotel stay for 2. Just looking for standard accommodation that is in an appropriate location for airport/cruise terminal. Thanks
  13. @HBE4 I was not aware of your situation. Thank you for sharing. Glad you have support from family and friends and especially your step-daughter. I hope this group is support to you too.
  14. @ReneeFLL This may or may not interest you. Sculpture by the Sea is on from 21 Oct-7 Nov. Hugely popular free event that runs on the scenic walkway from Bondi Beach to Tamarama Beach.
  15. Haven’t sought them out myself but food/cooking shows are hugely popular here so wouldn’t surprise me if they are.
  16. The kids would have loved those American candies. Halloween is very popular here now. On Halloween eve, you see large groups of teens and smaller groups of parents and kids in costume out door knocking. You “see” them because it’s daylight savings here in late October.
  17. Halloween - DD has a meet up in the city every year with friends who fly in from interstate for the weekend. Her costume this year is Guy Fieri. She chose him because he signed her cowboy hat at Stage Coach a couple of years back.
