  1. You only get the same rates plus keep the free gratuities plus the $200 obc if you book one of their listed cruises. You are not guaranteed anything else other than the $200 obc if it's another cruise. The airfare alone will cost more than $200 for two people. I guess I will have to start working my way up on Princess because Celebrity is out of the picture now. We have just cancelled and asked for a full refund.

Since we live in TX, we have to fly regardless. If we get the $200 obc on another cruise then we'll find one to use it on. We sail often on Princess and enjoy them very much but in comparison Celebrity still tops our list. Yes, what happened is very disappointing and it could have been handled much better imho. Celebrity has always provided us the most awesome cruise experiences and I'll stand by them but maybe at times not as happy as other times. :(

  2. It's official. Just got the call that this cruise has been officially chartered and the new itinerary is just as Steve posted. $200 shipboard credit on a new cruise is being offered and they will honor the same price on a different cruise to Alaska. Even though they saw that the correct information was on Cruise Critic, they didn't want to acknowledge it until "the ink was dry" on the charter contract. A Corporate case of CYA.

    Not a happy camper.

The 2 Alaska Infinity sailings they offered (5/26/15 & 8/23/15) and the Solstice on 9/11/15 are cheaper than what we booked the 9/4/15 sailing for so don't understand how the 'honor the same price' works. We already have the Eclipse booked for 3/6/16 so none of those work and we already have a sailing booked for 5/10/15 so 2 other sailings offered will not work. Kinda disappointed in the 'replacement' cruise options!

If the OBC offered applies to any sailing this chartered cruise is transferred to, then surely I can find something. Don't want to lose out on this but will also have to find one that has the beverage package! Also, don't know how this affects the benefits we were getting from our TA. Will probably lose out there. :(

  3. Cruisenut posted this on Sept. 8

A number of people have submitted updates since it was posted, but I don't recall seeing a more recent version of the chart since this one.

Just want to add that I think it is great of Cruisenut to do this for all of us.

KUDOS to Cruisenut!!! I really appreciate this.

  4. The cruise will be cancelled as the ship has been chartered for the second week to be used as a floating hotel (my guess is for the SalesForce.com Dreamforce conference). During the first week they are going to do some sort of coastal cruise(s) out of San Francisco as a replacement. No word yet on what that coastal cruise will look like. None of this is official and Celebrity are likely to drag their feet in making the announcement. If I was booked on that cruise I'd start making alternative plans and make a deposit on something else. I actually might be interested in the coastal so I'm anxious to see what they come up with.

How do you know this? Is it from a very reliable source that it's a done deal that X has agreed to the charter?

  5. Hi Lois:

Agree with your comment about Captain George and also wonder where he will be going. A true asset. He is one of the new breed of younger captains who have worked their way through the ranks at Celebrity. Will be on Connie TA. Captain Nicholas will start and Captain Tasos will take over in Tenerife. Both are outstanding and very passenger centered. There are so many wonderful Captains that it's almost impossible for me to have a favorite.

I think Captain George is the best. He's the most personable, friendly, caring captain we've ever had the pleasure dealing with. Love him!!! If X doesn't have a place for him once the Century is sold and gone, we'll be soooo disappointed. He truly made our Panama Canal cruise so memorable!

  6. Just got off the phone with Tanji. She said the deployment office told her they had an offer to charter the Infinity for a period of time that conflicted with the 14 night Infinity Alaskan cruise (04/18 Sept, 2015).

At this time they are undecided as to what they are going to do. Maybe they will cancel our cruise and maybe they won't. Maybe they will let us know next week and maybe they'll wait til just before final payment.

Their callous attitude and actions may cost them mine and others future cruise business, but to them, it's just part of the price of doing business. Not for canceling our cruise to make an extra dollar, but for not informing us of the fact.....

Did Tanji in fact tell you that 'Maybe they will let us know next week and maybe they'll wait til just before final payment.' Or is this what you think could happen?

  7. We had Alejandro on the Solstice a few years back. I liked him, unique Argentine sense of humor.

I noticed for our upcoming cruise on the Eclipse it is Sue Denning, anyone had her? Is she good?

Sue is amazing and soooo much fun. Tell her the 'frozen yogurt queen' from Eclipse March 2014 says hi! She should get a kick out of that.

  8. If you could find out who the martini & molecular bar staff are that would be appreciated! 😊 we are not on the equinox until the transatlantic crossing in oct & I'm aware things could change but it would still be good to know an idea...

Jelena will be returning from her time off this Saturday and will be in Molecular.

  9. Jolie- pronounced Yola, is the Michael's club hostess. The club is now designated as an area for CS, Royal and Penthouse guests only. This is part of the new program of giving additional perks to suite guests. The club is open 24 hours a day and you can drink, have snacks and also provide some special entertainment to those suite guests.

Per the other e-mail regarding Ken Mills, we thought he was ok- not the best CD, but also not the worst-

I think the Zenith members (3,000+ pts) in the Captain's Club also get entry to Michaels.

  10. We just booked this cabin for May 2015. Just curious about the bed arrangement. Is the head of the bed against the wall next to cabin 7198 or against the 'hallway' of 7202? And is the bed by the bathroom or the balcony? Any info is greatly appreciated!

  11. "Maybe another category needs to be added for Michael's"

It's already there, that's what MCConcierge is

Thanks. Think that's a venue we won't have the pleasure on enjoying as I don't think we'll live long enough to obtain 3,000 points...lol. Seems Jonette should be added back as host(ess) and Sylvia moved to MCConcierge.

  12. I wish to thank all of you who posted your appreciation of this thread. I've always felt that it was a nice "historical" perspective on perhaps the most important reason for cruising on Celebrity: the quality of the staff and their impact on our cruising enjoyment. The more one cruises, the more one realizes that the staff on board also appreciate that their efforts bring us back again and again.

Richard: Thank you for the Century update. Were the HD and GRM the same as listed?

DonnaK: Is Dimitrios Kafetzis still master? He must be very close to rotation. We'll look forward to your update.

tikigal: I truly hope that your efforts in getting ship by ship response is successful.

TYVM Cruisenut for all you do keeping this up to date. I just subscribed and am soooo glad to find this info, the 'old' and new.

  13. Equinox updated. All blue coded staff were on board according to passengers presently on Solstice, Century, Equinox.

Isn't Jonette still the CC Hostess and Sylvia the hostess in Michael's? See post #2845. Maybe another category needs to be added for Michael's host(ess)?

Sad to hear Chandru has left as CC Host and went to future cruise sales. He was an awesome host and made our b2b New Zealand/Australia cruises a wonderful experience.

Saw some posts re: Captain George on the Century. He's by FAR our fave and it'll take one heckuva captain to take Captain George's place in our hearts!!!

  14. We are sailing on the Luminary next month and it is our first Avalon cruise. We are hoping our cruise does not become a "bus cruise", but after reading these posts, it's good to know Avalon will do their best to ensure an awesome experience in spite of any adverse situation. I think the compensation Avalon offered in this situation was more than fair.

  15. :confused:I don't understand where everyone is seeing and reading all this info on the new levels for the Captain's Club. I saw a post yesterday on FB from Celebrity implying changes were coming soon. I have logged into 'my celebrity' several times yesterday and today, yet to find anything on their website. How and where did y'all find the new levels and info?
