  1. I'm hoping it's for a new tier for Captain's Club. I know it's a pipe dream, but I can always hope. ;)

This would be nice but don't think Lisa's new hire has had long enough to develop new level(s). Lisa stated on her President's sailing in August that the new person would begin in September. I'd anticipate at least a year before anything is decided, but I'd love to be proven wrong :D:D:D

  2. Booked directly with Celebrity. I have been on many Celebrity cruises and this was my first upgrade offer, do not know how they determine who receives the emails to upgrade, however when I upgraded the person who upgraded us said we should always let him know when we book and he would make sure we would be the first to receive invites to upgrade in the future. :D

Thanks for the info. We usually transfer our booking to a travel agent to get extra OBC. I kinda thought Celebrity offered upsells and upgrades first to those who are booked directly with them and none are left by the time they trickle down to those with a travel agent.

Have a great time on your cruise!

  3. yes the captain is george-see him occasionally walking round the boat , doesn’t stop to talk with anyone as other Captains often do. Very clear factual announcements

F&B Director , Demir, seems to be everywhere always interacting as is the GRM John and the Hotel Director

Hmmm....He was very personable on the Century but maybe he's changed or just doesn't know anyone. He was very approachable from our experience.

  4. Yes, according to another site, this is correct. And I've seen the pic of the "daily" with him on it.

Awesome to hear Captain George has indeed returned. He was fabulous on our sailings on the Century and I'll be researching Silhouette cruises.

  5. We checked our final bill on the tv on disembarkation morning since a paper copy was not delivered to our stateroom. There was a charge that should not have been charged as we had our stateroom attendant empty our fridge on embarkation day and also take away the bottled waters that were on the vanity. Guest relations removed the charge. I also spoke to our stateroom attendant upon leaving the room and he apologized. Said he got confused about the water.

Low and behold, when I checked our credit card the following day at home, there was another charge for the mini bar pending on my credit card. I had to call Celebrity and once again explain this was not right. So much for taking the time before hand.

  6. SHIP: Summit

    CABIN #: 8161

    DECK #: 8

    CLASS: 2A Veranda

    AREA: Aft-Port near elevator/stairwell

    BED NEAR: Bath facing wall/mirror

    QUIET?: No

    BALCONY VIEW: Good

BALCONY SIZE: Somewhat larger due to angle

    WIND A PROBLEM?: No

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: No

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Exhaust vent in shower area is not working properly and they could not fix it. Bathroom vanity, toilet, walls and mirror gets very moist after showering.Water temp in shower is very unreliable, alternating with extreme temps. Toilet water level is very low so had to always add water to use. Stateroom has an upper berth in the ceiling which gets very noisy with high seas/waves. Sofa in room is very worn. Noisy hallway from carts and foot traffic due to upraised metal stripping just outside hallway that gets stepped on/rolled over. Security lock on the veranda door does not latch. Mattress closest to the bathroom was uncomfortable and needs replacing.

  7. You mean the breakfast they have from 8-10 every morning (except embarkation day and disembarkation day)?

It's basically continental breakfast and you can get espresso, lattes and cappuccinos, smoothies, bloody mary's, mimosas, Bellinis. At one time it was a buffet and you could help yourself but last time we sailed they just brought you out plates, so if I wanted one croissant they would bring us a plate of assorted pastries, etc. We liked it much better when it was a buffet. We did not attend at all on our July Summit cruise. I guess that's what they want.

It must depend on the number of Elite/Elite+ guests or maybe the hotel director? We were on the Equinox in February and the Summit in April and both were buffets. We also prefer the buffet. You have to order too many 'pre-arranged' plates to get the combination you prefer when there's table service instead of a buffet. Also, If you ask for a 'special' order when it's table service, it seems to take FOREVER!

  8. I have never received a rose or flower in my cabin on any night. This is the first I have heard of this.

We've received flowers every cruise from CC since becoming Elite, usually the 2nd or 3rd night. It may be a rose or may be other flowers. Think they're called 'tube roses'? It didn't matter which category of cabin as we've received them in oceanview, veranda, concierge and aqua.

  9. Thanks, sollyman. This is the correct answer. Finally.

To the OP, please don't listen to the people suggesting you SKIP room service if you don't want to tip the staff member delivering it. That is ridiculous. Order your coffee and whatever else you'd enjoy. Thank the server and enjoy. There is NO obligation to tip anyone on the ship on top of the automatic gratuity. No need to feel guilty. What some here see as necessary is actually as mentioned, just their personal opinion.

Tipping threads usually end up a debate of opinions and not heavy on the facts.

Need a LIKE button! Totally agree tipping above the standard gratuities is so very personal. Our experience is room service personnel are quite content with a gracious and sincere thank you and the extra amount is not expected. Most of the time we have to say 'wait, here's a little extra for you' because they drop off the tray and head straight out the door.

  10. We sailed the Silhouette in March 2015 and there were 3 kids ages 10-15 in the solarium, eating ice cream cones while sitting in the hot tub. The staff said nothing! Apparently anything goes during spring break, or maybe anything goes on the Silhouette? We've never experienced anything like this before nor since. The ship had quite a few younger kids, especially in The Cove area throughout the day and evening. Coffee machine was unapproachable. We will take longer cruises only during spring break time frame.
