  1. I had seen that any additional cash tips given had to be 'turned in' so they'd be shared. Having read this, I once asked a crew member who was a bartender about this policy. I explained I felt that a tip given to them for their personal service should be able to be kept and not mandated by the company to be shared. They said it was their option to share and they'd share with the rest in their 'group' not everyone. I truly hope this is the case.

We've had excellent service most of the time by all areas, i.e., stateroom attendants, dining room waiters, etc., but at times we've had mediocre service. We've never requested to have any gratuity charges to be removed. We just didn't give above the 'standard'.

  2. This is our first cruise in a suite on the Silhouette and wonder how you are seated in the Luminae restaurant? My husband and I prefer a table for two and when we had a suite on a Princess cruise, we were given a table for the entire cruise that was ours to eat whenever we wished. It was a table for four, so we could invite other cruisers if we wished. Is the food substantially the same as the MDR, or completely different. Is it similar to Blu? Thanks for info.

Not sure this really fits on this thread but here's my take on Luminae, but only for the Eclipse as this was our first suite experience and we've learned each ship can vary greatly. Our butler made our reservations each evening for us since they suggested reservations if you want to eat during the popular times, i.e., between 6:30 and 7:30. We asked for a table for two since we didn't care to share and were not seated at the same table every time.

If you don't have reservations, they would seat you as you entered and you may not get the 'arrangement' you preferred. Don't know if you can 'reserve' a table for 4 if there's just 2 of you. Two nights there were 4 of us and there was no problem getting a table for 4 instead of our 'reserved' table for 2.

The food was distinctively different than our previous experiences in the MDR or our one previous experience in Blu. Luminae was amazing. The service was amazing. We were spoiled. But take this with a grain of salt as everyone's opinions/experiences vary greatly.

  3. And who could forget that smile complete with The Black Mamba

Jelena, the best, our fave, looooove her!!! Had a great time with her in December on the Equinox and hope she comes back to this ship on her next contract so we can see her again.

  4. Jim & Kitty,

It was such a pleasure reading your review and seeing your pics. Really made us anxious for our Mar. 6th departure. I think the Eclipse has an excellent crew and they do a fabulous job. We saw Topper and Rock City (or maybe it was Rock On???) when we were onboard in January and they were both fabulous. Hope they still have them next month as we'd love to see these shows again.

If y'all have time for another cruise this year, we'll be onboard the Eclipse December 11th. Would love to see you again. We're cruising with friends who are lots of fun. The more, the merrier. We all love trivia! We might could win several times :).

As we got on the ship earlier in the day we walked by Murano and

I asked the price. It is $50 a person. That is way too much in

my mind but they told me the could give me a special for $35 a

person. Well, we still had quite a lot of on board credit, so we

took it for that night at 6:30.

We ate in Murano's for our first time ever in January while on the Eclipse. We loved it. The Murano Lobster was amazing...very, very rich in flavor but worth every calorie! Next time I'm going to try the dover sole which looked so yummy. We had Luis as our waiter and he was fantastic.

  6. Hi Jim and Kitty!

Good to see you again :). We were on the Ocean Princess with y'all in Jan/Feb 2015 and joined in on the motu/snorkel excursion in Raiatea with Floriane. Seeing your thread here brought back many fond memories of French Polynesia.

Glad you had a great time on Celebrity and hope they 'wowed' you. It's our favorite cruise line! THey had us at hello :D. We will be on the Eclipse Mar. 6th. Love this ship!!! Looking forward to seeing more of your pics and review.

Hope our cruise paths cross again.

  7. Hi Everyone,

Celebrity has a new "Dream Destination Sweepstakes", offering Celebrity prize packs. Sweepstakes begins today 1/1/16, through 1/11/16. For additonal information, please review the sweepstakes rules.

To visit the Sweepstakes page, please click HERE

Good luck to all, and Happy New Year !

I was hoping the sweepstakes grand prize was a cruise to your dream destination, not just prize packs :(:(:( Don't mean to imply the prize packs aren't nice but a cruise is much nicer :):):)

Thanks and Happy New Year, Andy!

  8. I think I remember reading recently that the amount of OBC you get for doing an onboard booking depends on the cost of the cruise.

Putting aside any specific specials, can someone give me the breakdown of OBC?

It's based on cabin type & number of nights -

4-5 nts OR Transatlantic/Pacific and Repositioning Cruises:

    I/S - $50; O/V - $75; Veranda, Concierge or Aqua - $100; Sky Suite - $200 and all other suites - $300

    6-9 nts:

    I/S - $100; O/V - $125; Veranda, Concierge or Aqua - $150; Sky Suite - $250 and all other suites - $350

    10-13 nts:

    I/S - $150; O/V - $175; Veranda, Concierge or Aqua - $200; Sky Suite - $300 and all other suites - $400

    14-15 nts:

    I/S - $200; O/V - $225; Veranda, Concierge or Aqua - $250; Sky Suite - $350 and all other suites - $450

    16+ nts:

    I/S - $250; O/V - $275; Veranda, Concierge or Aqua - $300; Sky Suite - $400 and all other suites - $500

  9. Just got off the Constellation for a five day cruise. At the time the Classic Beverage package was 25 dollars a day pp. This was in addition to the cruise fare. Took the OBC as the included perk. That's about the cost of two drinks on the ship. I found it beneficial to get the package as part of the promo. Classic worked just fine.

WOW!!! Were they running a special onboard the ship for their drink packages? It was recently increased fleetwide to $55 pp per day plus an additional 18% gratuity.

  10. We are 18 points away from the next level of Captain's Club, and have two cruises scheduled for next April. It seems to me the quickest way to get those 18 points before April is to book a 7 day veranda on Royal Caribbean (a closer port for us, no air travel necessary) and get 21 points....is that correct?

Does Royal count their points differently? I do have some status with Royal, not sure what, definitely the lowest level.

Is there a credit card app I can complete/use to get points? I noticed the Celebrity credit card but it wasn't clear where those points went.....

    Thanks!

RCCL does count their points differently. It's 1 point per night for inside, oceanview and veranda but I'm not sure if suites get more than 1 point.

  11. I had to set my mind at ease.

My cruise leaves Saturday. Yesterday my on line check in was closed but it stated that my info was only 50% complete. Unfortunately, I did not print it out. However, you guys said not to worry, and I didn't.

TODAY it said that I couldn't order luggage tags (which I have received) until I was paid in full. That got my attention. So I called them, stayed on hold for 20 minutes and was reassured that my reservation showed "paid in full."

They said they were "upgrading" their website and some small problems occurred.

We have a cruise in 30 days and had already completed the online check in several weeks ago. I signed in just now to print our xpress pass but it states our info is only 50% complete. Same as what you experienced. Gotta love the X website

  12. We will become Elite+ after our January cruise and are really excited about this. Going to love the 2 bags of laundry each as we take quite a few 12 to 14 night cruises. Will also be really happy to get the extra internet minutes.

Don't see making Zenith in my lifetime but will be quite content at the Elite+ with the benefits given. If a new level was added, we'd to see it include a complimentary classic beverage package. Maybe a complimentary package that would include sodas, water, coffees, beer and wine? Heck, just complimentary bottled water would be nice!

I have uploaded the rest of the photos I chose o share for this review. The newest photos are of our excursion to the troll Ladder and of our last Port Stavenger.

This was a cruise we had wanted to do for some time, but we kept procrastinating. It was one of the best trips we have taken for the sheer beauty of Norway and the people that live there. The Eclipse and all of the great folks we met on this trip were also a big reason for the fantastic time we had.

If you are thinking about Norway, I recommend this cruise. If there are any questions or any info I can provide, please ask.

We're trying to get an idea on what time we should book our return flight. We're planning to take the cruise transfer back to London Heathrow. How was disembarkation? Did it take very long to go through immigration? Any suggestions? Thanks!

  14. Does anyone have an update on Jonette, CC Hostess, who was on The Century? Last I saw she was 'co-hosting' on a ship but now her name does not appear anywhere. We've sailed many ships several times and she was the only one that provided a "Welcome Back Mr. and Mrs XXXXXXX' on our door. It was just the nicest gesture ever and she was a great hostess. Hope she hasn't 'retired/resigned'!!!

  15. Total agree.

One example of a reduced price M class repositioning is the upcoming Oct 18 6-nt Summit from Cape Liberty to San Juan:

    Inside $299pp

    Oceanview $449pp

    Veranda $549pp

...and I think those prices are up from a few days ago.

We booked this cruise and got a C3 concierge class for $749 (currently $799) and also got the 123go! AI promo. Guess we rarely get price reductions on our cruises because we book so early. After all, the early bird gets the worm...ha ha!

  16. More and better last minute discounts for me? ...I'm OK with that:D

What I can't imagine is a day on the few islands that have built the deep water docks to handle the behemoths if two end up in port, in addition to existing large ships

Magsmc, Google is always your friend :) looking for an agent that offers last minute discounts? OK, Google: Discount and Last Minute Cruise Vacations. A last minute ticker service is useful for seeing what's out there at a glance.

Looking for "cruise price history" ask for that and find the same result Nachosdelux indicated, Stats tab, five years back by class. What did we do without Google? oh sorry, Alphabet.

Yep, can find a price history but no percentage of available cabins???

  17. On the flip side, my Connie sailing in November, the Sky suites are selling for more than Celebrity suites once sold for, and only 9% open cabins, just Sky Suites and some open views left.

How does one find the percentage of open cabins on a particular cruise? I've never seen this on any of our cruises and don't know if it's on the X website or elsewher. Any info and help is appreciated.

    Thanks!
