Sorry, but this is incorrect. From the Celebrity FAQs: Do you provide wheelchairs or scooters? We provide complimentary wheelchairs for getting on and off the ship. If you require a wheelchair or scooter during the cruise, you can bring your own or rent one from a company that provides rentals for cruises. DUTRAVEL has provided the links to the appropriate providers for North American home ports. Not sure about international embarkation ports.

I've experienced this on occasion, and it was a bit disconcerting. I also suffer motion sickness on many kinds of transportation, including ships. I can prevent the motion sickness just by taking a Bonine tablet at bedtime every night, starting the night before embarkation. My family doctor suggested that I continue the Bonine for 3 days or so after the cruise ended, ét voilà, pas plus Mal de debarquement pour moi. ( no more spinnies after the cruise). I've seen some cruisers mention that spending time in a rocking chair helped them.

Also not a fan of this format. Dont give 2 hoots about "up votes." I don't care which threads are "popular". And I DONT like that the current page doesn't show how long its been since the last post on a thread. Please go back to the previous format. This new one is not useful.

Email Encouraging Me to Make Main Dining Room Reservations

Most likely it was a bulk email that was sent out, so dont take it personally. Book, or dont book. Your choice. -
Do not cruise with Celebrity Cruises!

And on the other hand, your assumption that the IT mistake was deliberate false advertising is also just opinion. Not fact. -
Do not cruise with Celebrity Cruises!
mom says replied to CruisingNicole's topic in First Time Cruisers
First time poster with an axe to grind. Cruiselines don't cancel a booking and give lifetime bans for no reason. We are getting only one, agitated, side of the story, so pardon me if I find all the accusations a bit over the top. -
This is the problem I have with the use of abbreviations that can mean more than one thing. In this case it must be Flights by Celebrity, since the situation has nothing to do with a Future Booking Credit. So the first mistake was booking with Flights by Celebrity for a short hop like this in the first place. The second was not realizing that since the booking had been made by a US 3rd party agency, the airline would use US pricing for your add ons. In Jim_Iains case, they bought directly thru Air Canada, so priced out in CAD.

Hobbies brought on to Celebrity ship
mom says replied to Cruise till you drop's topic in Celebrity Cruises
If you define a hobby as a regular leisure pursuit done for pleasure, then walking ain't it. I do it, but it's not for pleasure, although I'm sure many find it so. On past cruises, I've enjoyed reading (real books and digital), hand stitched quilting and applique, crosswords and sudoku, and adult coloring books -
Packing for First Long Cruise- 26 days.
mom says replied to Reina del Mar's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
I pack the same amount of clothes whether it's for a week, a month, or longer. Then do laundry as necessary. The only thing that needs to increase are personal nygiene/grooming items and medications. -
Have you asked on the Princess board?

Can I bring a small sewing machine?
mom says replied to Beth and Bailey's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Hahaha. I'm a Pfaff gal myself, and a long time quilter. But my Pfaff weighs almost as much as my fully loaded 28 inch suitcase. No way would it meet the carry on weight restriction of some airlines. -

Tell you what- actually take a cruise on VV, then come back and tell us if you think the email lived up to its claims -
Can I bring a small sewing machine?
mom says replied to Beth and Bailey's topic in Celebrity Cruises
There's no rule that I know of that would forbid a sewing machine. I wouldn't fly to the port (or back after a TA) with one - too much risk of it being damaged in transit. And you could probably set up at the desk in your cabin, but I can't think of anywhere in the public areas of the ship where they would welcome you setting up shop and spreading out for several hours at a time, even if you could find a suitably located electrical outlet. Would you have all of your pieces precut? Because you will have a hard time finding a place with a large enough table to do that. And I'm assuming you are talking about piecing a top, and not machine quilting an entire quilt. I have seen a few ladies hand piecing , or doing hand applique blocks. I did the latter on one trip. Besides the hoop, all my materials fit into 2 zip lock bags, and I could do it just about anywhere without inconveniencing anyone. -
What is the best way to get from Rome to the port in Ravenna?
mom says replied to HelloFromIdaho's topic in Italy Ports
Renting a car is feasible, but will likely be longer and more expensive than taking the train. You will need to get an International Driver's Permit (from AAA) before you leave home. Learn the Italian driving laws- particularly those regarding speed cameras, bus lanes, and ZTLs. Familiarize yourself with the opening and closing hours of the rental agencies. Those other than at airports may be closed Sundays. Take into account any extra costs: road tolls, gas (its a lot more expensive than in the US) and any drop off fees. It's a distanceof nearly 400 km. You would probably want to travel up the day before embarkation. Trains are easier and cheaper. Most will require a change of trains in Bologna, but it's just a matter of getting off the train, looking at the signboard for the track your next train is leaving from, and walking there. Tickets bought in advance for the high speed trains can be a lot cheaper than those bought on the day of travel. The only possible downside (if you are lugging multiple massive suitcases) is that you need to handle your own luggage. But there is luggage storage in every train car. Look at the Trenitalia website for times and prices. -
Tipping when it is included in the cruise package price.
mom says replied to thekegler's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
A bribe on the first day is indeed a low class move, and could be insulting. Tipping at the end of your cruise, for excellent service is up to you, but always appreciated. As is a positive review on the guest comment cards. -
Exactly this. As long as they are not breaking any rules, why should this bother you so much? You accuse people of going out of their way to do these things, yet you seem to have gone out of your way to spend time tracking down and monitoring their actions. Who spends their day minding other people's business?

Extend your stay $89 - Retreat - Eclipse - Singapore
mom says replied to zitsky's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Absolutely get off the ship as early as you can. And stay a couple of days if you can. Singapore is one of the jewels of SE Asia. And it is SO easy to DIY. Find somewhere to stash your bags and then get out and explore. Gardens by the Bay is a unique experience. The Botanical garden is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Have a Singapore Sling where it was invented at the Raffles Hotel bar. You can indulge in a fancy (and expensive) dinner in the Marina Bay Sands, or have really great Thai food at a hawker center. Get to the airport early. You won't believe that place til you see it. -
Cruise or land beach vacay for Feb? Which would you pick?
mom says replied to aimcat's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
A passport is needed to visit the DR. OPs fiancé doesn't have one. USVI or PR would be possible, if willing to spend that much on airfare for 4 nights. -
Hotels in London- look at booking.com. you can filter for price and location among other things. Or look at the Premier Inns chain. It's a UK chain of hotels that are reputable and of quite consistent quality. Similar to a Holiday Inn in the US. Transportation from airport to Hotel. I seriously doubt that you will find any London hotel with shuttles to/from LHR. Have a look at the POC forum: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/148-british-isleswestern-europe/ City tour on arrival day. Check TripAdvisor. There are a couple of different HOHO bus companies. Transfers from London to Southampton- same forum as above. There's an entire sticky devoted to the subject.

Cruise or land beach vacay for Feb? Which would you pick?
mom says replied to aimcat's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
Apparently Flatbush Flyer missed the part where the OP was looking for a 4 day getaway. You're unlikely to get more than a Bahamas party boat out of Miami or Ft Lauderdale in that length of time. If you want decent weather, but aren't open to flying to the Caribbean, then find somewhere as far south in Florida that you can get - further south than Miami. -

Health Screening Questions For Boarding....
mom says replied to WoodstockGirl's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
If you answer yes to the question, you will have a short interview with one of the ship's medical crew to ensure you aren't still sick. -
Please clarify- the east of what? East coast of the US ? The Far East? Middle East? Sea ports, or any ports of entry? In the US, iris scans are part of Global Entry or Nexus requirements. Retinal scans are not used.
