Wilderness Explorer & Crab Feast is a great excursion. We have cruised Alaska twice & it one of the few excursions we would repeat. You take a short bus ride to the George Inlet Lodge where you board a small boat that travels to the crab pots where they harvest Dungeness crabs. You even get to take your picture with one of the crabs from the pot. Captain Gill called resident eagles & fed them bait fish only a few feet from the boat. They swooped down within feet of the boat. Back at the lodge we had an all you can eat Dungeness crab boil & blueberry cheesecake dessert. Great excursion that I highly recommend.

Delta has a flight to Quebec with only a 55 minute layover at JFK. We would be arriving on a domestic flight from New Orleans at I think is terminal 2 & next flight is would be terminal 4. Have never flown to JFK so I would like some input as to whether this is doable. We normally would not consider a flight with such a short layover but this flight is significantly cheaper than all others.

I suggest you look at Motel Nord Haven (now Aurora Denali Lodge). It is in Healy. Older place but very large rooms & very, very clean. They provide breakfast & you can order a box lunch for your Denali tour. It is very quiet away from the bustle of the businesses & only 10-15 minutes from the park. You also get a discount at the Black Diamond Restaurant which has really good food with large portions. Highly recommend both.

We traveled on the Sun late May last year & had no odor problems. We had a midship balcony. Loved the ship. We had heard so many negative things about the ship prior to sailing that we were worried but we found none of it to be true. Food in main dining was good, service was great & northbound itinerary that included Glacier Bay & Hubbard Glacier was fabulous. We would not hesitate on traveling on the Sun again.

NCL northbound from Vancouver to Seward on the Sun is a great itinerary. It also includes Hubbard Glacier & Glacier Bay. We did this cruise last year & it was much better than our round trip from Seattle that we did in 2012. We got a balcony & it was so nice not to have to deal with the crowds on the upper decks.

Thanks for the info Twickenham

Came across this hotel & was wondering if anyone has ever stayed here for their cruise. Seems like a very unique hotel. Not sure how convenient it would be for the cruise.

I would like suggestions for a Quebec hotel prior to our cruise in late September or early October. Hopefully close to cruise pier. Any suggestions are welcome as we are clueless about what areas of the city are good places to stay. Have looked at TripAdvisor but still would like to hear suggestions. We will be sailing on NCL Dawn.

We did Wilderness Explorer/Crab Feast with NCL in Ketchikan & it was great. One of the best excursions we ever took in our 2 cruises to Alaska. Highly recommend independent Dyea Dave in Skagway.

You will not see Glacier Bay unless it is part of your itinerary. I suggest you consider the NCL Sun northbound that includes Glacier Bay & Hubbard Glacier.

I suggest you consider NCL Sun northbound that goes to Glacier Bay & Hubbard Glacier. You get to see both. We have been to Glacier Bay twice and Hubbard once. Both are beautiful but Hubbard Glacier is so huge it is very impressive.

Cruiseguy,
We had about 12 people on our small boat that went to the crab traps & there were 2 boats total for our group. It was very cold on the water in the first week of June 2016.
-
We spent about 1 -1.5 hours at the lodge.
-
Excursion was 4 hours. We still had enough time to shop in Ketchikan. We payed about $150 per person. It was expensive but worth it. I am confident you will enjoy it. Go to TripAdvisor & look it up - it might be listed as George Inlet Lodge.

Has anyone in the past used NCL reservations to book hotels for a Canada cruise? If so, what hotels have they used for Boston & Quebec?

Would like to know what hotels NCL used in the past in Boston & Quebec. Doing research but my PPC at NCL says it will be about a month before NCL posts that info for 2017 cruises to New England/Canada. Past cruisers who have used NCL for their hotels please weigh in.

Will be there October 5. Cruise leaves October 6. We are only 2 & want a moderately priced hotel.

What is a good hotel near the cruise port? Will be doing cruise in October & want to be near the pier.

We have sailed to Alaska twice & had a balcony cabin because of the great scenery so we were wondering if a balcony is beneficial on a Canada cruise. We know that this is very subjective but would like to hear from experienced Canada cruisers. Is a balcony for this trip worth the extra cost? In our opinion it was for Alaska but we are completely uninformed about this East Coast cruise. Please give your opinions.

Thanks for the videos. They were great.

We are looking at October 6-13. Thanks for the info - will email you.

Thanks for the info. Looking at October 6 - 13 of 2017. Is that a good time to see fall foliage?

We are looking at the Dawn itinerary to Canada & would like to get feedback & info on this cruise. Itinerary includes Boston, Portland, Halifax, Charlottetown, Gaspesie, Saguenay, & Quebec. Any info from anyone who has done these ports would be appreciated. We have never cruised the East Coast only Alaska & the Caribbean.

Motel Nord Haven - now called Aurora Denali Lodge. Older place but very large rooms which are very, very clean. It is away from the commercialized area in Healy about a 10 minute drive to park entrance. Free breakfast & they will make you a lunch for a small fee before you head into the park. Added bonus - discount given at Diamond Grill Restaurant which has very good food with large portions.
