  1. If you want pre planning you need ships that still offer club dining.
  2. Expecting perfection from P&Os IT dept is never going to happen, we have to to live with the problems.
  3. Pre booking seems to be the main problem with spec restaurants and especially the Olive Grove, presumably because it's free. Lots of passengers make multiple bookings early on, knowing they can easily be cancelled. We managed to join a previously non existent queue the other night, and when we arrived at 6:30 most tables were empty waitinv for 7 to 8 o':clock patrons, and the waiters were loitering around twiddling their thumbs. If they dropped all pre bookings and just used the virtual queue they could easily seat double the numbers they do now.
  4. The Captain on Iona announced yesterday, while we were at dinner, that Carnival UK were now changing the requirement for crew mask wearing from compulsary to optional, which he indicated was a further step along the road back to normality. This seemed to get approval from the majority in the dining room.
  5. The fixed time booking in The Olive Grove does not work well IMO, too many people book it in advance, then cancel at last minute. So the the app says it's full, then late on a virtual queue opens up. But even then there are far too many empty tables at 6:00 to 7;00, waiting for 8;00pm bookings They could double the numbers if they only allowed a virtual queue system. Similar comments also apply to MDRs, that's a big turn off on RCI, where there are at least 50% empty tables whilst having massive queues outside each restaurant. I want freedom to mean just that, book when you are ready on the app and that should see a very fast throughput, with little waiting.
  6. I am on holiday and rather enjoy that someone else is cleaning up after me, and anyway I was once told off by a Horizon waiter for bringing my tray back.
  7. What is wrong with ordering your wine by the glass, a large glass is 250ml, which equates to a third of a bottle, any more than that for a couple and you could easily finish off a bottle.
  8. Sorry Bin man, I didn't realise you were on a retainer from P&O while you were cruising.😁
  9. But as with all T&Cs any complaint needs to be made to P&O, you must have exhausted yourself trying to drum up support on here, all to no avail because none of us can influence P&O, and until we are in the same situation as you, we really have no idea how we would react. You dont tell us if your insurer has agreed to refund your lost cruise days,or indeed if ABTA are taking your case up with P&O,or if you did it's far too many posts ago for many of us to remember.
  10. Depends on the ship Iona has a recessed area outside our cabin door, so only someone snooping in our mail box would trip over it.
  11. That's OK but sulphur dioxide is used to suppress oxidation and prevent mouldy growths which will certainly affect the taste of your wine.
  12. You only need to see that the oldies music from Pulse is now from the 90s and noughties, to realise that if you are over 60 you no longer exist as far as P&O are concerned.
  13. You do realise Harry that this will be a deliberate ploy by the port management to either have the tests made less onerous or push the blame elsewhere, not necessarily what the final outcome will be.
  14. It does make you wonder if P&O are deliberately making the coach journey so uncomfortable that passenger will eventually not want to use the coach?
  15. I was called on embarkation day to ask if I was on board or not, I almost answered to hang on while I checked with the people in the cabin next door, but thought better of it. Apparently I had not visited the muster station, I asked if my wife had checked in at the muster station and was told yes she had, I did wonder how she had managed to check in when I hadn't, and I was pushing her wheelchair? Computer systems are fine just as long as they are not reliant on idiots to input the data.
  16. We shower in the evening however our towels are always dry come morning.
  17. The answer is dont tick yes to any health question, otherwise you will be denied boarding.
  18. I gave up buying bottles of wine in the MDR when my wife stopped drinking G. I now buy large glass of whichever wine I want, which is always more than adequate for me to finish over dinner .
  19. It's possible it could have been someone else's old battery, something you never get if you put new batteries in yourself.
  20. It's very easy to change the batteries, and far cheaper as well, even at Sainsburys battery prices.
  21. So the hundreds of thousands of Cubans fleeing to the US were leaving a paradise behind were they?
  22. Since the bed position is different in adjacent cabins on both sides, I never really know which side I am on until I look outside.
  23. Not yet but in a years time maybe it will.
  24. No, we book through an agent and also received the same e-mail from P&O.
  25. Unfortunately ii's online data does not provide a useful page to print, but they do send off the request to Carnival, so I am happy with that.
