  1. Having been in an OS several times, I believe they are preferable to VS. Motion is significantly less in an OS. Deck 7 is preferred to avoid possible noise. We only felt vibration when the boat was at higher cruise speeds, most of the time vibration was negligible.
  2. We have stayed in a Continental Club room at the Marco Polo Hong Kong hotel prior to a cruise and can highly recommend staying there. We not only had a great view of the harbor from our room but had a direct view of our ship when it docked there. As people have already said, an easy walk to the ship with the hotel staff taking your luggage.
  3. You can also buy products in the spa, which might be the best buys onboard the ship.
  4. We have been in the owners suite on both Journey and Quesr and suitcases have fit under the beds.
  5. Another vote for Welcome Pickups, which we have used several times, the last in Athens for the May Journey Greek intensive. They have always been prompt, efficient and friendly.
  6. We have sailed Oceania, Azamara and Regent. We have not found Regent to be formal, I don't take a jacket or tie with me on any of these lines. We just finished a Greek intensive on Journey and were not very impressed as there were things missing that we previous had on past Azamara cruises. We have always found the staff on Azamara to be friendlier than on Oceania but the ships of Oceania are done in a way that seems more upscale to us. With the right itinerary, I don't think you can go wrong with any of these three. However, Regent in many ways is superior to either of the others, so one needs to price them up with equivalent options if there are identical itineraries.
  7. yes, you are right, it didn't affect the rest of the cruise, just lost about 2 1/2 hours of the first day.
  8. On the Journey, May 26, the earliest boarding time was 2:00. It was handled by port employees, not ship's crew, and IMHO, handled very poorly. Probably the worst boarding experience in over 20 years of regular cruising.
  9. Host Jazzbeaux, This just shows how things can be different for different people. We prefer not to have our personal items in the area with the toilet, so that guests can use it easily without seeing all my pills etc! We prefer the dual sink layout as we had in a Royal Suite on Celebrity or on our suites on Regent. For us, the bathroom would be better if they removed the tub and used the space in a better way. For others, the tub could be important. You just need to find what works for you.
  10. JDPCruisers, Mary and I recently returned from a Greek Intensive cruise on the Journey in the Club World Owners Suite, our 2nd time in that suite. Veranda is very nice with 2 comfortable chaises and a table for four. Living room also comfortable. Plenty of storage, both drawers and hanging. Very quiet at the end of the hallway. No soot on the veranda! Comfortable bed. Bathroom has some issues: single sink in the main part of the bathroom with very little space to put things. We never used the sink in the small room with the toilet. Shower was OK. We had 7119 on both cruises, the only deck that has suites both above and below. Having been in a regular veranda and a continental suite on other Azamara cruises, I think you will like the difference that the Owner's Suite provides.
  11. Recently had a massage on the 5-26 cruise on Journey. The massage was very good, better than most I had on cruises and, when I said I wasn't interested in any products, there was no further sales pitch. It was an enjoyable experience. Jay
  12. Our test was done in Annapolis, properly certified on May 23. There is no problem with the par test. The issue is that the Athens port require a test within one day of boarding a cruise ship and nothing else will do. Azamara made a mistake telling people that a 3 day pcr would be sufficient for boarding. In my opinion, Azamara should have known that and properly communicated that to anyone boarding in Athens.
  13. We just boarded Journey in Piraeus 2 days ago. Our 3 day old par was not accepted for boarding and we had to take an antigen test at the pier. Azamara waived the fee for the test. In Piraeus, either an antigen or per can not be older than one day.
  14. Journey starts again on 5-26 and we are looking forward to being on that cruise
  15. Least like was the small staterooms. On a port intensive trip it makes less of a difference, but I wouldn't pick an Azamara cruise with a lot of just sailing days. For our last Transatlantic, we chose the Seven Seas Explorer. For our upcoming May 26 Greek intensive cruise, the Journey is our choice.
  16. As Grandma Cruising said, we have found Azamara to be a very casual, warm and inviting ship. The size is easy to get around, it can dock at places that the larger boats can't. On our Journey cruise from Hong Kong to Singapore, at several places we docked right in town while the larger boats were at commercial docks more than a hour from the city center. The crew, from Captain on down, has always been friendly and easily mixes with the passengers. Not fancy, but just nice! Jay
  17. There are already sufficient bars on the Azamara boats. With the small staterooms and lack of the dazzle that now exist on competing boats, having a room like the Library is somewhat unique these days and adds a bit to the ships. Using that beautiful room for meetings and events other than just a place to sit and read adds something to the cruise experience that another bar does not, IMHO. I know that there are many that will like the extra bar area but I hope that Azamara gives careful thought to making that change in the other ships.
  18. Mary and I are on this cruise also and we have decided to have PCR tests the day before we board the plane, having the results in hand to avoid any unexpected problems when boarding the boat. The utter confusion of Azamara communication leads us not to have faith in anything that is on their website. We have enjoyed Azamara cruises previously and still expect to enjoy this cruise and just want the start to be as stress-free as possible.
  19. We have been on several Azamara cruises and I never bring a suit, jacket or tie. A nice shirt and long pants and you will be very comfortable dining at any of the restaurants. If you want to wear a jacket, its OK and you won't feel out of place.
  20. We are on the Journey May 26th and were able just to print out our boarding passes.
