  1. Day 2 and I've already worn 4 pairs, so feeling vindicated😅
  2. That's the best suggestion of the day!!
  3. Indeed - not so many places to dress up these days and I do love shoes. With the advantage of driving to the port, packing so much isn't really an issue so I'm just going with it! Yes, maybe we'll bump into each other onboard. Safe travels...
  4. Safe travels! I do have a portable rail also, which is currently taking the strain!
  5. Thank you exlondoner. It will be our first time on QV, but not Cunard. Very much looking forward to it, if I can just get my packing finished! As LouChamp rightly pointed out, a first world problem and all a bit tongue in cheek, but I am currently looking at my 8 pairs of shoes (excluding trainers and travelling shoes) sitting neatly by my suitcase. Prior to reading these posts, I thought I had done quite well, but apparently not!😅 Good news is we are driving to and from S'hampton, so no airports or security to navigate.
  6. Thank you for the reminder! We are in a 1, deck 7 so the USB points will be handy.
  7. We board QV tomorrow and am in my usual mode of panic-packing. I don't know why it is that packing beats me every time. I'm a pretty organised person and I decide what I'm going to take, but somehow when everything's just about finished I cannot resist taking one last look through my clothes and adding things willy-nilly, especially shoes. How do you all limit your packing, or don't you?
  8. Enjoying reading about your sailing and hope you continue to enjoy. Great pics, thanks for sharing.
  9. I was just browsing through these threads, which I haven't noticed previously and was surprised that there is no mention of Strictly. Is anyone watching it? Or perhaps it's considered to be a bit beneath those who do ballroom dancing and of no interest to those who don't? We love it, and look forward to our Strictly Saturday evenings as the evenings draw in.
  10. Beautiful cats. Love that photo of them cuddled up together.
  11. Same here - always get the use of both bathrooms, the main reason we book it.
  12. Absolutely stunning pics, thank you so much for sharing!
  13. I had an email from someone onboard who said that all grills suites are being updated - no further detail though..
  14. Unless I've missed something, I haven't seen any pics yet and I think the website pics are computer generated?
  15. Oh yes, now you mention, I recall reading that. Well, they certainly have their work cut out. All very exciting!
  16. How long will QM2 be out of action? This looks like a LOT of work!
  17. Thanks Keith. So it’s just the fact that aft is a more desirable position that makes the aft suites more expensive?
  18. Does anyone know whether there is a difference (other than location, obviously) between the aft and forward JCP? I'm assuming the reference to a 'mid' location within the suite description is a typo as there do not seem to be any JCPs in a midships location?
  19. Thanks for this great review. We did the same itinerary last year in the same suite. Agree on all your comments regarding the suite, especially the lack of a second WC. Internet was slow last year, so good to hear that it has improved so significantly.

    Emirates??

Thank you all again for the help and advice. I'm still wavering. I gave up on Qatar in the end. My 2 options now are a direct flight on BA first class, or still Emirates/Singapore. The problem for me with Emirates is that I would need to do cash plus miles (no first class award seats availability at present) and I would need to put miles into Emirates to find out the redemption value of the points and if I don't like it, then my points are stuck with Emirates and I'm not sure when we would next want to fly somewhere Emirates goes. BA seems like a good deal, but probably not as luxurious as Emirates/Singapore.
  21. After disembarking from our recent Symphony cruise, my husband discovered that he had lost one of his (brand new, very expensive) hearing aids. Without much hope, I contacted Crystal to ask whether it had been found and handed in. A few days later, I was contacted and told that a member of staff had found the hearing aid and had indeed handed it in. Crystal returned the hearing aid by tracked mail and we received it safely this week. It might not sound like much, but we were absolutely thrilled to get it back and very pleasantly surprised that they went to the trouble. Just a nice story which gives us a nice warm feeling.
  22. Yes you would. We routinely book with a US agent and Cunard links those cruises to our existing ones which we booked through a UK agent.

    Emirates??

Also... I think I may be seriously indebted to you as it would seem that rather than pay for the very expensive Emirates flights, it may be possible to fly on airmiles with Qatar! Am getting my ducks lined up, but it's looking good. It would be business to and from the UK for the shorter part of the journey and first for the rest.

    Emirates??

Thank you for coming back to me on this. First on Singapore is prohibitively expensive (for us) or I would probably choose that. We could, however, do First on Emirates and we would be on the A380. I will also take a look at Etihad and Qatar. Thanks again for your advice, very much appreciated!

    Emirates??

Hi, wondering whether anyone can give advice about Emirates? From what I've read, it seems like a good airline. We are flying Lon-Sydney and our best options seem to be Emirates or Singapore Airlines,. We could fly First on Emirates or Business on Singapore.
