  1. Ive done a cruise on both the Sunshine and the Breeze. I loved them both. Both have had comments of being crowded but since I'm a people person that doesn't bother me and I really don't think i found that to be a problem except - Breeze C day barbecue. expect long lines. On the Breeze I like that the showroom still has the bench style seating. On the Sunshine the showroom seemed to have long lines to get in to get a seat and since they have revamped the showroom to double as a night club the seating is at a premium. I loved the Serenity deck on the Sunshine, 3 decks of relaxation, the Breeze the serenity not so much, no pool. The Breeze has the Lanai on the 5th deck and that is the nicest thing about the ship, 4 hot tubs, bars, tables and chairs, loved that. Have fun.

  2. I agree with you about deck 3. we did a 28 day on the Sunshine and this deck was just above us, we stayed on deck 2 and could walk up and grab a lounge chair anytime day or night, I loved this area a good place to read or snooze. I was surprised to have found it and enjoyed it for many days

  3. Be sure to stroll around deck 5. There is a walkway all the way around the ship. Also there is a wooden glider on the port side aft section. Go out there have a drink and sit on the glider swing. And if you order a drink and get Dwayne you'll laugh your self silly. Deck 5 is so relaxing and has 4 hot tubs.

  4. Just got back from my cruise on the breeze. I had cabin 9358, right under part of the marketplace food court. NO noises noticed. The thing I loved was that the 10 deck was extended out more over the balcony so it was even more shaded which provided a nice place to nap. It was a perfect cabin mid ship, one stairway up for coffe or down to the cabin if you forget something. Right near the elevator, not noisy, and it came up right at the pool.

  5. Remote possibility is a good way to put it. Were platinum, 10 cruises, and have not been lucky to have someone call and "give" us an upgrade. Even if you would get a call it would be more likely a charge to upgrade. If you are concerned why not just book what you'd really feel comfortable with. If you do that then the rest of the planning will be fun.

  6. We usually have a balcony but did a short 5 day in an OV liked it so much that when we did 28 days on the Sunshine from Venice to New Orleans we absolutely loved it. Cabin 2170. The cash we saved was a plus for taking side trips. We won't ever let the price of balcony vs OV stop us. We will take whatever.

  7. Our first 6 cruises balconys and one extended balcony on one of the Hawaii trips. Took a short day with 32 family members and took an Ov on the second deck and really liked it. Just did 28 days last oct &nov on the sunshine med & transatlantic cruise in 2170. Ov again and loved it. We could see the weather and water and found we spent more time out doing things. If the price is right we'd do either.

  8. I had to book solo for a trip which was fare for two people. I booked a 1a, which is an inside, on the breeze. Wouldn't you know that after payment the price of a balcony was less than my inside. Called my pvp, he talked to his manager room changed to a balcony. That made paying solo with no supplement feel much better. Wasn't booked under es. Got lucky this time.

  9. If you're flying and think you might need a wheelchair for the airport and the cruise check with your local senior citizens office. They usually have a medical needs closet to loan out medical supplies. We did this for my mom. Even tho there were days she could walk, other days to fraile. Have fun!

  10. We did 28 days on the sunshine, cabin 2170. So much to see and do. The ocean plaza on deck 5, I think, also served breakfast. I loved that area just to relax in. I didn't like the set up for the liquid lounge for the shows. They keep the doors closed so you can't go in early. We stood in a huge line just to get in the shows. But other than that they have a nice camp carnival play area. The sports square with all types of activities for kids and grown ups was great. Our whole trip we remarked just how the grand kids would love this. Hope to get them on it soon. The serenity area is so beautiful. Sure there are some areas near the music on the lido but if you walk to the aft it's peaceful. Steakhouse was wonderful.

  11. While on the Spirit my hubby was walking across the room to get our cards. At the end of the row was a lady who told us her child worked Onboard. My hubby stepped back to let her in front of him--- guess who won $1200. She did. Oh well. I once won $ 200 on the victory.

  12. We head up to the lido, find a place to sit. Last cruise we had 32 family members. We found a table on the lido deck next to a corner and just set it there. We took turns fixing our food. Someone was always there to watch the stuff. They announced that the rooms were ready about 12:30.

  13. Carmel, I have just read all of the words of encouragement sent your way. I posted earlier on but something just hit me. I said that we were all waiting for the next shoe to drop.

My hubby(68) me(66) had planned for almost 2 years for a 12 day med cruise with a 16 day transatlantic on the sunshine last oct/nov. In the back of my mind even though I'd been planning all that time in the back of my head was " what if something happens" worried all thru the planning.

One night, while on that cruise I said to him " you know I hoped and prayed we'd make this trip together " he said " you know I wondered myself." We just never know what tomorrow brings.

I hope your tomorrow brings another day to love. Take care

  14. Carnival warns everyone about going into a port and not leaving your common sense behind. At every port in Europe we were reminded of the possibility of something happening. The incident in Roatan is similar to what could happen if you show your phone ipad, jewelry ... In any place in the world. It's a sad thing but sometimes we are lackadaisical in preventing or recognizing danger. I am just so sorry it had to happen.

  15. Please take this wonderful vacation and make some glorious memories. Just remember we are all waiting for a shoe to drop. It's just that it's not in our sight line. Nothing we can say will ease your concern but know we are with you. Oh yes, and wish we were with you on that cruise. Don't wait for tomorrow, make today count!

  16. We did early dining with 32 family members. We agreed that we'd all choose excursions and shows that that fit our vacation then all would be at dinner to hash the day over. This worked out perfectly. On the sea days we'd all be parked by the pool or at our favorite tables. It worked well having the freedom in the day then all eat together. Age group from 2-68. Have a great time!

  17. Did 28 days on the sunshine. If you do eat in the marketplace, lido buffet, after you get your meal head to the Havana bar area. You can usually find seating pretty quick. It's fun to go to all the way in and sit at tables overlooking the back of the ship. The food being served in the ocean plaza deck 5 helps to diffuse diners on different decks. Enjoy your time.
