  1. There are places that will sell you a document of recovery, but the only way that you can get that is to have a documented positive result from a testing centre. You would upload that document on the selling site, they authenticate it and email you the document of recovery. Most people are simply doing their in-home rapid testing, and there is not, then, a way to get the certificate of recovery.
  2. I just saw this posted on another social media group. #9 immediately made me think of you. 😞 TIPS FOR FLYING THIS SUMMER I guess this is a cruise port tip too! Found this online and I think it's good advice. Just some good advice for those who plan to travel this summer from a flight attendant: Flying this summer is ROUGH!!! I feel like as a Flight Attendant I should attempt to share some tips to get you through airline travel for the foreseeable future. ✈️✈️ 1. Things are not good..... if it's less than 7 hours - DRIVE! I'm not kidding. There is nothing enjoyable about flying right now. On any airline. If you must fly, keep reading. 🚗 2. Download and use the app of the airline you are flying. You can do everything on it - get your boarding pass, track your bags, see your incoming plane, and change a flight. It sure beats waiting in a long line to talk to an agent! Trust me - Usually these apps will tell you a flight is canceled before the crew even knows! 📲 3. Fly MUCH earlier than you need to - a whole day early if it's important!! This week I saw many people miss important things like weddings, funerals, cruises, international connections, and graduations. The tears were very real, for very real reasons, and there was nothing I could do! If you have to be somewhere, spend the extra money, go a day early. Have a glass of wine and stay in a hotel, enjoy your night not being stressed while everyone else misses their events. 🍷 4. ALWAYS fly the first flight in the morning so you have all day to be rebooked if the ***** hits the fan. Yes, that means it might be a 3:00 alarm, but morning flights don't cancel nearly as often.⏰ 5. This is not unique to this year, but keep in mind summer is thunderstorm season. A single storm can shut down a whole airport. We can't fly through them. Storms usually build as the day gets later. Book early flights! ⛈ 6. Schedule long layovers - Your 1-hour layover is NOT enough anymore. 30 minutes, not a chance. 3 hours minimum. 🏃‍♀️🏃🏃‍♂️ 7. What you see on the news is an understatement. We are short-staffed and overworked. Not just pilots and flight attendants, but also ground crews. Without ground crews there is no one to park the planes, drive jetways, get your bags on/off planes, or scan boarding passes. This causes many delays that snowball throughout the day. Sometimes HOURS.(Another reason morning flights are best!) 👀 8. When flight crews get delayed we time out. We can NOT fly longer than 16 hours. It's illegal. So it doesn't matter if you have a wedding to get to, when we are done we are done. The way things are now, there is no backup crews, so when this happens your flight cancels. (Now you are starting to see why those morning flights are best!) 😴 9. Avoid connecting in Newark. It is literal hell. You have a 50/50 chance your flight will cancel or miss your connection. They have been canceling flights at their starting points just to keep the planes out of Newark because there just aren't enough people to manage the planes, so the gates stay full. Also, the restaurants are expensive, so it is not a great place to be stuck. 💩 10. Be nice. As stated above, we are overworked and tired. We will not help you if you are mean. No one cares that you are going to miss your cruise if you are an *****. So even if we can help, we will save our help for someone nice. Tensions are high. Our patience is gone. If you make us mad - you will not be flying on our planes. We will leave you behind without a second thought, and laugh about you later. 🥰 11. Being drunk on an airplane is a federal offense, so don't overdo it. If you drink too much at the bar waiting for your delayed flight you risk not being allowed to fly at all. We are too tired to deal with your drunk ass when we have legitimate issues to deal with. 🍻 12. Get trip insurance if you have a lot of money invested. I hate the whole idea of this, but I also hate the idea of losing money. Example: I was working on a flight yesterday that waited over an hour for a gate. A family of 8 missed their flight to Rome. The only flight of the day. They were going on a cruise which they would now miss. They were all crying, there was nothing I could do. (Also a reason to fly a day early!) 🛳 13. Flights are FULL. If you buy cheap seats you will not be able to sit with your family. It says so when you purchase your ticket!! Flight Attendants aren't there to rearrange the whole plane just so you can sit with your family because you tried to save $100 on a third-party website. 💸 14. Speaking of third-party websites and saving money..... Like I said flights are FULL. If a flight is oversold, and no one volunteers to give up their seats, who do you think is the first to be bumped? You guessed it, the family that saved a few $$ by using sites like Expedia, Kayak, Hotwire, etc. 🤷‍♀️ 15. Pack smart. Don't be "That guy" Don't hold up boarding because you have your extenders open till they are busting and you can't figure out how to make it fit in the overhead. (Passengers are stressed too, they can be aggressive when boarding a delayed flight) 🛍 16. Take showers, brush your teeth, leave the perfume off, don't eat stinky food (Caesar salad and tuna fish I'm talking to you!), and bring headphones. Trust me. These things sound basic but add to the stress on crowded planes. If you are stuck on the tarmac for 3 hours after a 4-hour flight, you will thank me for this. 💜 17. Bring a sweater if you tend to be cold. So tired of half-naked girls asking me to turn the heat up. NO. Wear clothes!! Side note: If you dress like this and ask for heat, there's a chance I will turn the AC up. 🥶 18. That's not water on the bathroom floor. For the love of God wear shoes to the bathroom!!! 🤮 19. Don't tell a Flight Attendant they look tired. We are and we know. You may cause us to ugly cry right there in the galley. 😭 20. Happy Travels!
  3. So, your 3:30 appointment is Amsterdam time, correct (we, too, will be in Amsterdam), and it is a Zoom meeting. I have Zoom on the iPad so that is comforting. Reviewing: Book 2 appointments at a set time, they email the confirmation with the link, click the link at the correct time, and test. That sounds easy enough. 🙂 Then the anxiety of testing negative, not positive. 🤞🙏 Thank you for your help and reassurance!
  4. One thing that caught my eye is that you can book 2 people at once with the Lifecenters. I'm assuming that it is one login? Do you have to register with the website ahead of time, or is it strictly done through Google Meets (yikes! something else to learn!) day of? We'll be in Europe, so we'll need to figure out timing with a 6 hour difference. Maybe we'll get lucky and precruise testing will be dropped by the fall. And it can all be done on an iPad, right?
  5. My sisters were on the Koningsdam May 28-June 4th. One had towel animals every day, the other only on gala nights. I think it must be dependent on who your steward is and how busy they are.
  6. Definitely something that I did not know. Thank you!
  7. Thank you. This is reassuring. It looks to be an easy system and cost effective, using the free government tests (green box) And, since we would be contacting them from The Netherlands, there is even a way to book it at the time that I'd be doing them ie. I don't have to figure out the time difference.😄 Having DH testing positive two weeks ago prior to our Koningsdam cruise, I am definitely a weeeeeeee bit anxious....already! 😔
  8. Have you done these? I’d need to book two separate appointments, but can they monitor both at the same time? Or would I need to book one 30 minutes after the other?
  9. Thank you for packing us in your suitcase! I've enjoyed the cruise!
  10. 🗺️ Good Friday afternoon! Thanks to all the keepers-of-the-Daily! DH and I are now testing COVID negative, with the only lingering after-effect being the coughing. Not a productive cough, merely an irritating cough. 😡 It is an absolutely gorgeous 🌤️ day in southwestern Ontario-sunny, 23ºC with partly cloudy skies. I note that the heat is coming middle of next week, so I will enjoy the cooler (14º-15ºC) evenings. DD is in charge of supper tonight. I believe it is spaghetti and (turkey) meatballs. I am enjoying having her take over 1 meal a week. That, and, because DH and I have been out of commission for the past month, she has had to fill the Rav4 with gas. She is learning that owning a vehicle does not come cheap! 👩🏻‍🏫 Praying for all those on the care list and everyone that need it, but especially for @Heartgrove at this time. Cheers all round-especially for those that are getting stronger in their recuperating! Blessings to all!
  11. Good morning from sunny southwestern Ontario. Thank you all who participate on the Daily thread, and especially the keeper of the lists, wines and recipes. Happy Shavuot and Happy Pentecost Day to those who celebrate. The celebratory days are important to our world. I like the quote, but, like @puppycanducruise I hope people are tactful. The meal sounds delicious, but DD is cooking tonight so we'll see what she has in mind. Thank you @grapau27 thank you for both the sermon and the significance of Shavuot. Prayers for your family @Heartgrove as they travel this difficult road. Since we are still testing positive, we remain in quarantine for a little longer. I wonder if we will just keep reinfecting each other like a vicious circle? I'm going to call the Health Unit tomorrow to get clarification for hubby, since he tested positive the first time 10 days ago. Prayers for those that need them, whether they thing they do or not, cheers for the celebrations, and blessings to all!
  12. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Canada-New England is on “the list”.
  13. We were to upload the proof of vaccination when we did the Air Canada checkin. My husband's didn't take, so we needed to show it at the desk. No problem, and when we flew back, the proof was already noted on the file.
  14. Thank you to everyone for this family thread! I'm just checking in to say the DH is feeling much better. Naturally, I am now testing positive for COVID but that happened after we got home from Vancouver. Thanks to @Cruzin Terri for thinking of us yesterday. I have a mild sniffles, an itchy throat, and a weeeee bit of a headache. The first two are normal for this time of year, so if DH hadn't tested positive, I wouldn't think to have done the same. I've mentioned that one of the most disappointing parts of this whole thing is not being a a BHB when my sisters are getting their first taste of HAL. Today, I got a message about a 'free cruise' (basically a casino deal) that one sister got. I reassured her that the offer was a good and legit and both are now booked for next summer. I, again, won't be with them because it overlaps my Voyage of the Vikings, but I was soooooo excited that she got the deal! Prayers for those who need them, cheers to those celebrating, and Blessings to All.
  15. Darn! It I’d known that I’d have booked the cruise a week later and actually been able to go!
  16. We’re actually booked on the Volendam from FLL to Vancouver. It will be the first time on the Volendam for us. I’m looking forward to trying the smaller ship. I love 💗 the other sizes of ships so we’ll see how this goes….if it does.
  17. Thank you for the Daily and all that it entails. Shawarma might just be on the menu today-chicken, though. I’m not a tofu fan, unless I’m eating hot and sour soup. We had a cruise booked to Hawaii earlier this year, but dropped it for the Panama cruise and then rescheduled it due to going to Cairo when my grandson was born. The Panama cruise is rebooked for next April. Maybe the Hawaii cruise is what I will book in lieu of this failed Alaskan one. 🤔 Another thought is back-to-back Boston to Montreal/Quebec. Does HAL test for COVID on turnaround day? Happy Memorial Day. I love the idea of giving blood @HAL4NOW. Remembering the sacrifices that our soldiers made so that we might live in a free country is important. And, for my Ontario compatriots, so is voting. You can still vote early at the returning office, or vote the day of. Vote for whoever you connect with with respect to philosophy and costing of their platforms, honesty and transparency. Whoever that is…vote! Sending prayers to those who need them, even if they don’t think they do. Cheers to the celebrations. Blessings to all.
  18. @CatinMyLap we have a 5 day isolation period here in Vancouver and then will fly home on Wednesday. Yes, it was FlightEase that booked the flights once my TA was able to connect.
  19. First the good news. We had our initial flight cancelled in the middle of the night just prior to boarding. FlightEase was quick to obtain a new flight for me without issue. The new ticketing was emailed promptly. Now for the bad. When we had to cancel our travel agent did the cancellation. She gave me a phone number to call for FlightEase because I had all the information that they would need. The first time I called I had a wait time of “less than four hours “. At around the four hour mark the hold music went to dead air. Nothing. 😭 The next day I tried again. I tried right just before seven (weekend hours) and I got a “wait time of less than one hour“. I had by this time given my travel agent the information that she would need to book me. At the two hour mark of waiting on hold, I emailed her frantic wondering if I was possibly in a system of another world. She informed me that she was on two lines with them both with a “wait time of less than four hours”. At the three hour mark on hold I got an email from my travel agent that she had secured the dates and times for the flight that I need. I never was able to connect. I believe there is a 24/7 emergency number. Next time I would call that in the middle of the night.
  20. Good morning! Thank you for the Daily, the lists, meal and wine suggestions. It’s a cloudy and cool day here in Vancouver. Another layabout day, when I should be cruising. DH and I flew to Vancouver to join the Koningsdam with family on Thursday. First thing we did was get the COVID test done. I tested -ve and hubby tested +ve. We had pretty much been hermits for the 10 days leading up to the cruise, but for a family birthday party (all part of our bubble). It seems as though one of the munchkins was asymptomatic. 5 days of quarantine here at the hotel, and then we will go home. Not the way things were planned and the process of getting in touch with FlightEase was painful. There HAS to be a better way! On the positive side, my sisters/brothers-in-law are experiencing why I love HAL for the first time. I’m looking forward to their impressions. Be well everyone. Prayers for those who need them, whether they know it or not. Cheers to those celebrating. Blessings to all.
  21. We are weathering this at the moment. Flew to Vancouver to join the Koningsdam with family. I tested -ve and hubby tested +ve. We had pretty much been hermits but for a family birthday party (all part of our bubble), but it seems as though one of the munchkins was asymptomatic. 5 days of quarantine here at the hotel, and then we will go home. Not the way things ere planned. 😞 On the positive side, my sisters/brothers-in-law are experiencing why I love HAL.
  22. Heading to cruise on the Koningsdam on Saturday. I was on the ArriveCAN app which I had filled out a few weeks back. Today, I was able to click the embarkation date and time, fill out the health survey information, submit and received the QR code at 96 hours (not the 72 as stated on the government website). I’ll delete it and do it again tomorrow to make sure it is in the proper timeframe, but thought it strange that the app allowed me to submit it early. Unless I’m misunderstanding the government requirements.
  23. Good morning and thank you for the Daily, Rich. It's a bright but cool Victoria Day here in southwestern Ontario. We had unexpected fireworks just behind the house across from us last night. I'm guessing some families went together because the display was a good 10-15 minutes, and went high over the rooftops. It was a delightful surprise for us (but not so much for the old cat). Swimming with the turtles in the Caribbean was a sight to remember ❤️. Fingers crossed that a cure can be found for those with digestive disorders. The salad sounds delicious, but will need to wait, since our fridge is full of leftovers that need to be eaten before we head to Vancouver later this week to board the Koningsdam. My favourite drink at Walt Disney World 15-20 years ago was the Milky Way. Simply a chocolate shake with peppermint schapps. They discontinued the drink, but it was sooooo good on a hot Florida day! I'm going to have to go back and find the lemon garlic pasta recipe @ger_77! It sounds delicious, and I have some nice shrimp that would marry well with it. Prayers for those that need them, even those that don't think they do. Cheers to those celebrating. Blessings to all.
  24. Thank you for those suggestions. I have a few masks packed but will up them. I'm hopeful that the VeriFly app will work for me. I did have problems uploading pics. Although I am travelling with my sisters/hubbies, I said that I want to use the VeriFly app since we have another cruise booked in the fall, and I want to see how it works. DH and I have sailed the Koningsdam twice before and this will be the first HAL cruise for my sisters.
