  1. And this is the point of the change in the Egypt Visas. The Canadian government has made it difficult, if not impossible, for Egyptian nationals to visit our country. Decisions are made arbitrarily and without recourse for or explanation to the Egyptian applicant.
  2. Thanks for all of the information. My mind is still staggered by the $150 fee for Canadians. Everyone else in the world pays $25 US for their visitors visa. Our government really needs to get this fixed for us. 😡
  3. Yes. The shuttle is actually across the street at the Royal York, if I recall correctly. She flew from Billy Bishop.
  4. My sister just used Megabus a couple of weeks ago. London to Union Station, free shuttle over to Porter Airlines. https://ca.megabus.com/route-guides/london-to-toronto-bus?gclid=CjwKCAjwo9unBhBTEiwAipC111w7QQz_6GaFZAppBIz5mrDwmM3mbxplcW6yzym4Sb_eQavumfcmPRoCOI8QAvD_BwE
  5. Now if only the Canadian government had addressed the issues that Egyptians have getting visas to enter this country, we would not be in this mess. I speak from experience. My son-in-law (10 years) is Egyptian. He has applied twice for a visitor's visa to come and meet our extended family. Both times he was denied, despite his having: a job, a home, family in Egypt, a supportive letter from me detailing the events of the visit and a promise to get him back on the plane to Egypt at a specific date and time. I had our MP look into what we could have done differently, and they found nothing that should have triggered a denial of visa. It was an arbitrary decision by someone with too much power. At this time, I think the best course of action is to contact our government directly to negotiate with Egypt NOW for the convenience of Canada's citizens. Visas are only good for 6 months. That has always been our experience, just to get simple answers.
  6. Thank you for this information. I have considerable onboard credit, and would like to use some of it for a pre-booked tour, that is now full. What you have written makes it easy to understand and follow the process.
  7. Actually, it is! The people are very friendly and helpful. The security is there for your sake. I never feel I’ll at ease there, and the Nile River cruise is spectacular.
  8. I had my laundry bag held up for a few days on our last cruise. After waiting 2 days, the cabin steward knocked on our door to say that I had miscounted the number of items (I had) and now that he'd talked to me, the laundry would be brought to the cabin. It was there within an hour of his confirming with us that I had miscounted. When something happens, your cabin steward is your best friend. 😉
  9. This is our first cruise as 4⭐ cruisers. I know that we have priority boarding, but is that priority at the stated time on the boarding pass, or is it that I can board whenever I wish? Our boarding pass has us at 1:40 in Group I
  10. Unfortunately, by the time I get the tv tuned, the announcements are over or pretty close to that. LOL We've never seen or been told about a switch. I'll be searching that sucker out in 3 weeks. 🔍
  11. Wow! I've never had that happen on any of the ships we've been on. In fact the ONLY announcements in the cabin were the first day and any major issues (please ignore the crew practice). Even the Captain's announcement of the day had me jumping to the door to hear it. Perhaps that CD was new?? If that is the case, I hope someone complained and it changed her approach.
  12. LOL That's the truth! I miscounted once and they had to touch base with me. But I've never had anything LOST. Love HAL laundry!
  13. Thanks, Ruth. I figured that's what I should do, but I could never find a note on any of the pages to say Customer Copy
  14. So, I've always wondered. Am I supposed to keep one of the sheets with the list of what I have sent away? Nowhere does it say to do so, and I never have, but then I don't have an actual record of what is in the bag. I like the idea of snapping a picture before I hang it out on the door or leave the bag on my bed.
  15. I have worn a nice pair of black slacks with a "dressy" (er) blouse. I did not feel out of place at all. That said, I now have a dress that travels, wears and washes like a rag that I take with me.
  16. I needed $300 each for our 35 day South Pacific. So we have $600 paid for the cruise and when I look at the amount owing in November 😯 Great idea! Thanks! That and the lower deposit required. Definitely Canadian (and US, Australian etc). When we were on the Rotterdam last fall, I was pretty sure that I would be booking the 35 day South Pacific cruise for 2023.We bought a number of FCD first and then later went back and booked the cruise once I was certain the type of cabin etc that I wanted. The FCC was very good on that cruise. (He didn't mind me saying over and over....on THIS (Canadian) credit card, not the one on file. 🤣
  17. We did the Rotterdam TA last fall. It was scheduled to leave from Amsterdam, but because of water levels, it left from Rotterdam. DH and I spent three days in Amsterdam before the cruise , and then 5 of us on the roll call shared a vehicle to Rotterdam. (The train is too much for us at this point in our lives). It was fine. Rotterdam is a wonderful port, and should the opportunity arise for me again, I'd like to spend a couple of days there as well.
  18. Good morning from SW Ontario, where, after a vicious storm, the weather is sunny, bright, and will go to a very comfortable 24ºC this afternoon. Alexa tells me that it might rain, but our little village often misses rain that the city we abut gets most of the time. Happy Birthday to your DH, @Sharon in AZ. Thank you to all of the list keepers and thread keepers. DD has converted to Judaism, so I am grateful for the vegetarian options and will keep those recipes handy. Prayers for those that need them-whether they know it or not, cheers for all those celebrating, and blessings to you all.
  19. I was really surprised to see the medallions on the bed. They came close to the end of the cruise, pretty close to that 100th night, but I was expecting to get them the following cruise (at a ceremony??). I did want to flaunt the missing ⭐⭐⭐⭐ pins, though, when I embark next month. Now how will I convince the gatekeepers that we get to go in the "special" check in line? 🤣
  20. So, kind of like the snap, crackle, pop in Rice Krispies.
  21. We didn't even get our pins in May. 😭 We did get our 100 day medallions, but no 4 ⭐pins. It took 15 days for our mariner status to change online.
  22. We are newly minted ⭐⭐⭐⭐ mariners and we'll be on the Zaandam in August. Hubby doesn't drink wine unless it is as sweet as pop (soda). I like mine sweet too, and we drink homemade brew from the UBrew wine store. We tend to drink the lowly muscato of the lowest Sommelier package when we are on a cruise. We did do a chocolate/wine tasting on Disney which I really enjoyed. But I think this will be one to watch, listen, and try to remember "kiwi". Now to plan what I will wear to such a high-faluting event.
  23. Please let us know if it ever does work! I was hoping for a Mother's Day sale, then an Independence Day Sale on the gift cards. Sadly, nothing came about. Booooo
