Thank you again for your suggestions. Looks like a lot of choices, I like the Times Square area for the experience.

Autocorrect gives us so many giggles.:')
Yes it does, but it is kind of dismembering you from your cruise isn't it? :p
-
sounds interesting at best.
I know they give an entry to each person that wins a tournament on a regular cruise and that if you wanted to enter onboard the entry fee is $500 or so onboard.
They comped me the cruise and entry, but haven't seen any talk on it this year.
-
Thank you all for the responses
from what I found so far the prices from all 3 airports are +/- $5 pp, so that is not an issue.
I am looking for more convenience on where to stay during a few day visit, and somewhere not too far from the Brooklyn cruise terminal.

Princess $75,000 slot tournament on Regal Oct 26, 2017

Just trying to decide which NY airport to arrive at. LGA or JFK?
we are arriving a few days early, and looking for the airport that would be better and closer to places of interest as this will be out first time in NY and want to check out the sites.
I hear that LGA has some construction happing at the time also.
Also looking at my flights going home, found a flight that leaves at 11:30 at MIA on dismemberment day. I know the commute time is longer than FLL and since this flight is basically a local flight (customs in Canada), and we are both Nexus members (security fast tracked) I don't see that being an issue making it if we do the self walk off and cabbing it.
any opinions would be appreciated.

there are conditions that are REQUIRED
the cruise you want to collect the cash with needs to be booked within 30 days of the cruise
the letter MUST be present and given to the cashier for the cash
no copies or pictures

Planes that WAIT for passangers are usually mated, or connedtion flight passengers. They are not for people that are getting on the fight at the start of their journey.
they have no obligation to wait for you, but if the previous flight in the connection is late, they will wait, or rebook you at their costs
-
Not too early at all
if your flight is for the next day

Has anyone purchased OBC or Casino credits lately? and if they did, what is the current exchange rate?

Just found out a few more interesting facts on this latest offer in a direct mailing from the Prestige Players department. I was told this is who the OPC answers to.
There actually have 4 mini-suites that haven't been claimed yet. Offers were sent out to 30 members, the number of rooms available were only 20. They are awaiting the deadline and will offer the mini's to the next few people on their call up list.
It will be interesting having a car service pick you up instead of just regular bus/van transfers that would make you wait an hour to fill it before it leaves for the port.
The drinks are available SHIPWIDE, not just when playing, or when the casino is open. So basically the Ultimate Beverage Package is included. I know last time, the Hostess was authorizing some high end single malts well over the $10 limit.
The excursions were a choice of 3 that they picked that are listed in the excursions section, prices range from $89 - $189 for 2 people
Total cost in all $220 USD for taxes, $700 CAD in flights, plus tips and gratuities. Not including my casino budget.

The issue is with the machines, they have all or nothing for any accrued points. You cannot negotiate what points you get, and the slot attendants cannot control comps. I have yet to EVER see the casino Hostess/Host chat up slot players.
At the tables you chat up the put bosses and Host/hostesses, and you control what they see you do. even if you don't play a lot, just buy in for a bit, and play every second or third hand, the table keeps track of the time you spend sitting there. Their system works out the percentage of hands you play per hour versus your bet they assume you make consistently.
The Host/Hostess and pit bosses have the ability to comp you anytime.
It doesn't take much money to make you look like a big spender, just the time associated at the tables. The machines track every cent you bet.
I actually talked to reservations, as I didn't like the open balconies on Dolphin, asked for something on Emerald (nothing available), they upgraded us to a suite. Maybe my luck on this cruise is just starting.
The weird thing is, Ocean Players Club has nothing to do with this promo, Prestige Players must be a new department.
-
I just noticed they actually booked it already . They had D308 reserved for me before I even called in.
Actually the key to getting decent comps is not just throwing lotsa money at them. The money is avoid the slots and machines, as you are designed. To lose on them.
Get to know the hostess, know the supervisors. Lower your bets when they are not looking, when they are raise them. The track you by the time you play on the tables, and have a formula to work out how many hands and bets you place.
I usually allocate $1000 for gambling per cruise, and rarely lose more than that. Most of the time you will break even, and sometimes take extra home.
That's part of the experience, they have comped me specialty dining and excursions all the time. Drinks are a given too
-
This offer should also include free drinks - not just while playing in the casino but all over the ship. The AIBP. That's what Carnival does and in reading the invite, there's no restrictive wording about the drinks so I think it's the full beverage package.
If they are following to the letter, you'll also get asked what complimentary drink you'd like in your cabin when boarding. ie bottle of your favorite spirit!
offer doesn't say you have to be playing like most casino offers, but in the small print it says you are responsible for costs.
I'll have to ask about that

All ships have craps
Smoke free casino is on Formal Nights
-
You go through cbp at canada place, there when you get in the ship. To get off and back on land you need to deal with cbsa, then cbp back to the ship.
not a quick on/off process.

They can still track or "rate" your wagering by knowing your name or cabin #. Vegas casinos do this all the time. You can ask the pit boss to be rated before you sit down to play at the tables.
They keep track of what you buy in with, but at the same time, they have electronics on the table that track how long you sit there. Also you will notice the pit bosses always looking at a tablet, they are tracking you then, and making adjustments.

Not a good idea. Last time I travelled from SP to LAX back to YVR. We arrived at the airport at 10:30. We weee the first to walk off and a cab. The port had a few ships in at the same time at SP also.
We had pre clearance at LAX, and barely made it for a 11:30 flight. Not worth the stress.
Too many factors you aren't in control of. CBP delays due to additional ships, freeway closures, LAX congestion
