  1. I appreciate that, thank you and I ask in earnest to please help me understand that appeal. We are really struggling to see it.
  2. I hope you’re right!! Dinner at 7 is annoying but breakfast at 8 would really be tough. We are early risers who love breakfast and prefer to go out over getting room service.
  3. Unfortunately, I am hard pressed to see the appeal to SB at this point. We are still looking forward to our cruise and we will have our usual terrific time. Just read on a different thread that cruise critic was banned on the poster’s recent cruise! That says it all. While we love Regent and Oceania, we’ve been on many different lines and I’ve never seen breakfast unavailable before 8am and dinner at 7pm. And a pastry in the bar at 6am is a junk food snack, not breakfast. Earlier in this thread someone said that one has to adapt and change to make do on a SB cruise but we have not had to make do on other luxury lines.
  4. It’s not that so much. I think we are just realizing that SB doesn’t sound like it’s going to be a good fit for us and we have spent quite a bit on a very long cruise. We always have a good time and will certainly enjoy our trip but I think we will stick with Regent and Oceania moving forward. But anything is possible!
  5. It’s not all about what time Europeans eat or that if I’m hungry I can snag a cucumber sandwich at tea time. Or that I should take a nap or something. My guess is that you don’t want to join us for breakfast at 6am anymore than we want to wait till 7pm for dinner. We are learning that the meal times are late and quite limited on this line. At least we will have a coffee maker in our suite and can make ourselves coffee in the morning. Curious to hear the answer on Lobster Thermidor at TK Grill.
  6. Is there a way to get coffee before 6:15? We are up by 5am so will we have a coffee pot in our suite, a self serve machine somewhere, or early room service?
  7. We see on the website that dinner starts at 7pm and as early risers, that’s late for us. What time is breakfast and lunch served? Thank you.
  8. Wow! Thank you all for these exciting comments and gorgeous pictures. Looks like my hunch was right and that this is going to be our favorite dining venu. Breakfast sounds great too. We don’t usually like to be cold but the thought of bundling up and dining by an outdoor heater in Greenland is very enticing!
  9. Earth and Ocean looks very interesting to me but I don’t see much here on the boards about it. Please share your thoughts and experiences! When the weather is too cold for outdoor dining, what happens? Is room service an option? Thanks so much.
  10. Thank you so much for the great photos and information!
  11. Very useful, thank you, and the gorgeous picture is a bonus! I am going to add some kayak tours to my shorex today. You were lucky that you had them included, sometimes both in a day, on your cruise. Theses tours are extremely expensive on our cruise. The Iceland and Greenland segments of our cruise don’t include the perks of the arctic cruises, not sure why.
  12. For those of you with experience in Ventures by SB, do you prefer the kayak tours or the zodiac tours? There are locations where both are offered for essentially the same tour. We are new to SB and I’m trying to finalize my shorex. Thank you!
  13. Our experience is the opposite. We are finding Seabourn far more expensive than Regent. We respectfully disagree with you. We very much prefer the old world wines, especially from the Saint Emilion region. Thank you for the well wishes and we always manage to enjoy ourselves. Hoping the ship is still not full. Breakfast on the pool deck sounds great! What dishes are featured? We have several stops in France, 2 days docked in Bordeaux, so we will have options but at the price we are paying? SB should be getting those provisions!
  14. Thank you for posting that wine list, John. That selection is shockingly bad for serious red wine drinkers. Regent’s red wine selection puts that to shame.
  15. We’ve done 2 post Covid cruises (Regent and Oceania) and had a marvelous time on both, despite the expected challenges that we flowed with. Covid or not, can anyone tell me how in the world there are no French reds (our primary drink) on board? If we have to buy our own when we dock in Bordeaux, we will, but hopefully SB will provide like a 5 (let alone 6)* cruise should.
  16. We are less than one month away from our first Seabourn cruise so I’m just about speechless after reading this. We will be on Quest for 38 nights in a very large suite and I feel like we are about to experience our most expensive mistake ever. We are reasonably good at making lemonade out of lemons but …..
  17. We were in that suite over Christmas and it was very quiet, no noise problems.
  18. Thank you so much for this fabulous live from report! We are looking at a similar itinerary in 2024 so this is as helpful as it is enjoyable to read.
  19. Your review is a great read and very balanced. Thank you for bringing back good memories!
  20. Thanks, all, feeling a little better about our upcoming Seabourn trip. We’ve been really second guessing it but since we are well into the penalty phase now, we will think positive and enjoy!
  21. We are going on our first Seabourn cruise this summer … as a fellow regent lover, why do you feel this way about seabourn?
  22. We are considering a cruise itinerary that includes Trinidad and Tobago. This thread is a shocker but geared toward Trinidad. Is Charlottesville in Tobago also unsafe?
  23. We are considering Ocean World for our excursion in Puerto Plata and hope to snorkel there but I can’t find much, if any, feedback or reviews. If you’ve been there, please chime in with your impressions, thank you!
