  1. Looks like your view is glitchy. I just looked at an upcoming cruise and note that my small calendar has highlighted dates (whereas tours doesn’t). I can click on mine and it takes me to the tours for that date. Since yesterday (Saturday) was O web maintenance day, see if yours is fixed. If not, you can always try a cookie dump and see if that works. BTW, I’m doing my search using safari on an iPhone.
  2. There’s at least one premium line (Oceania) that has a “price drop match” guarantee up until the day of embark if you originally did a BoB.
  3. Adding yet another set (or two) of hands on your luggage (especially when it’s “free”) is just asking for trouble.😳
  4. Oceania provides all booked cabins with at least one complimentary wifi account with unlimited data except streaming is blocked (though you can pay extra for that). Starting Oct. 1, 2013, every cabin gets at least two of those complimentary accounts. And please don’t post that O is “expensive.” If you add all of O’s inclusions to any mass market fare at their extra price, you’ll be quite surprised at the comparable bottom line.” And that’s before you figure in all that you don’t get (or want) on a mass market line (e.g., mediocre food, thundering herds, incessant announcement and pesky photogs…..

  6. It’s not disabled. See my post above about how to turn it on with the Remote.
  7. If it’s one of the newer Samsung TVs, I seem to remember that it’s one of the symbol buttons on the remote (the 🔼 one?) that turns on the “closed captions.” In any case, try the various symbol buttons on several movies from the “On Demand” choices. it worked for us last month on Regatta.
  8. Click on the calendar icon and it expands to show current bookings. Worked fine for my most recent cruise in July/August 2023.
  9. MARSEC policy changes over the past decade have seen far less access to “behind the scenes” experiences - particularly when it comes to MAROPS areas like the Bridge and Engineering. And neither of those areas are really appropriate for small children. As an alternative, why not cruise from/to a port with docent tours of retired ships (e.g., the Midway aircraft carrier in San Diego).
  10. Perhaps you haven’t noticed but, when you turn on an O TV, the volume is set quite low yet is audible for many folks who have no hearing issues. I consider it a passive reminder to be considerate of your neighbors and/or to wear your hearing aid(s).
  11. Never use the Cart. It is very glitchy - particularly in the display of prices in the checkout list. If you do the math yourself, the bottom line price in the Cart MAY be correct. But, there are no guarantees it will work. Also, the Cart does not generate the all important “pre-purchased shore excursions” PDF (the one with all the purchase math displayed). Do your your buys over the phone with an O Rep.
  12. 3 days!? That’s not a “cruise.” That’s a “boat ride.” Add a “0” to that “3” and then you’ll have a cruise!
  13. Just did SFO to NYC on Insignia in July/August 2023. All was well with no itinerary surprises. IMO: Other than conveniently/enjoyably getting you from one great city to another (for extended land stays) one or two Canal crossings is plenty if that’s your objective. Zzzzzzzzz😑
  14. We’re on Regatta right now (day 20 of a multi-segment cruise) the only regular sports viewing on cabin TVs is Sky News Sports.
  15. This thread is a “Roll Call” which is supposed to be used only by folks on this cruise. There’s a “live from ….” thread where you can pose your question about sports being shown on TV. That said, we’ve been on Regatta since Seattle (on our way to LA right now) and the only TV channels with any kind of regular sports broadcasting are euro-centric (e.g., BBC and Sky News). To the best of my knowledge, there’s been no US football (college and pro) shown at all on our two segments. However, in the past, we have seen the Super Bowl on Oceania.
  16. Let me guess- you’ve never wanted one of the four corner extended balconies on Marina and Riviera. Booked within minutes of new bookings opened.
  17. BoBs are auto-assigned to the TA you used for the current cruise unless you choose to self-assign it. Although I will most likely transfer it to the same agent, there are situations (e.g., COVID’s negative impact on TA continuity) where I might want to use a different agency or agent. Self-assignment allows me that 30 day buffer to deal with any possible issues.
  18. Your best chance to get first shot at a popular cabin is to be onboard an Oceania ship when new bookings open. The O Club Ambassador can have all your info and deposit in place plus have your preferred cabin ready to grab the moment bookings open on her direct connection to the O servers in Miami. You can then transfer it to your TA of choice within 30 days. There’s also the bonus of a BoB in that you get a BoB discount, extra SBC and a “price drop match” guarantee.
  19. All depends on how you book multi-segments. 1. Separate cruises (2 booking numbers and no fare discount?) Cruise credits are per segment days per chart. 2. “Extended Journey” (2 or more segments marketed as a single cruise with best aggregate fare discount; single booking number?) Cruise Credits are per total cruise days per chart. 3. “Custom Cruise” (2 or more segments not marketed as an “extended journey” but with approx 5% discount per segment; single booking number?) Cruise credits (and O Club perks) are per segment. Though the fare discount may not be as robust as the extended journey one, the added O Club perks per segment can be substantial if you are a Platinum (or even just Gold O Club member)
  20. Each time you get an updated O invoice (as in after tours purchased or final payment made), there should also be the latest Shore Excursions PDF attached. Often, there will be changes and it will possibly be more accurate that the O website tour shopping pages. (That’s another reason to not use the web cart, which is also very glitchy). You can also just call O every so often and ask for the newest PDF.
  21. And get the updated versions as they come out - sometimes monthly +\-. It can change often with additions/subtractions.
  22. Yes - we were onboard for Hubbard last week too. It’s late in the season with a lot of floating ice (including calved parts that are underwater) inside the tide line. And Regatta stayed outbound of that tide line last week and this week. You may have noticed/heard that most of the Alaska tour boats are custom built and have reinforced metal hulls. And, you can hear the stuff that you can’t see as the tour boats encounter them.
  23. Motoring Cat -not sailing. “Up close and personal” at the Hubbard Glacier. FWIW, in 2013 (or 14?), we got this close on Regatta itself! But the ship today does not get that close. In any case, each time we’ve done it, it was spectacular.
