  1. Twice now, once last year on the Getaway and on June 15 on the Escape we have returned back to our cabin to find several officers going through our cabin without our prior knowledge, both on port days as it was. We had not reported anything missing, nor had we reported any problems with something inside our cabin. This last time they were taking pictures as well. They all had the SURPRISE look on their faces, as if they never expect the cabin occupants to walk in while doing this. My husband was not happy, so down to guest services we go to ask about it. Took them a full day to even acknowledge we wanted some explanation. Turns out, its standard protocol for NCL to do random steward efficiency checks and they will enter your room at any time they feel necessary. We thought they should have a better system than that, so suggested they print that info on their dallies so all passengers would be aware of it and to possibly expect such a thing during their cruise. Granted those cabins are their possession, but when you pay XXX$$$ you tend to feel that it is yours for the duration. If it's happened to us twice in three sailings, don't think it might not happen to you. The other thing that we realized was that our cabin steward had to do a crew drill that same morning so of course he got backed up with his usual duties for the day, so they likely were strictly try to catch him slacking off on his duties because of it. We felt bad for him. like he was set up!

  2. We sail Sept 18, and I noticed earlier today it was no longer there for booking, as it previously had been. Guess that means there also won't be a magician show in Fat Cats later in the week either? Wonder what they'll use the room for now? Hope they decide to use it for something entertaining on our sailing, as I've never been in the room. Supper club free, with or without meal, as we had on Escape?

  3. We sail in Sept and have made reservations in the Tropicana room for 5:30 with MDQ res the same night at 7:30, so yes, you should be able to do this. Only reason we picked Tropicana is the Burn the Floor dancers do "Things that swing" at 6 pm this night and the following night "Leading me on" as well. That is, if the schedule remains the same as it has been. Last time we sailed the Getaway there were people all lined up outside the Tropicana waiting to enter to get seats right up front. We got great seats with the dancers right in front of us were awesome. You might want to choose a different restaurant on these nights if you aren't interested in this, as you say there are eight of you.

  4. Would you recommend one vs the other parking spots you mentioned in Miami? We usually leave our car parked at the hotel we spent the previous night at, then shuttle or taxi to the pier. Last time we couldn't get to the pier via our shuttle, till around noon, and we like to get there earlier. What time did you arrive to board and were you satisfied with the parking lots as far as feeling your car was safe, etc.? Thanks

  5. Sailed in aft balcony on the Escape and I seem to remember the couch had storage drawers filled with linens under the cushions, so would leave me to believe that No, it doesn't pull out into an actual bed, just a couch. We only had two in the cabin, so didn't really check it out to be sure, sorry. I do remember thinking it would be a very small cabin for myself, daughter and the four year old, though.

  6. You'll likely need to leave the waterfront area of Cagney's for a better aft view at sunset time. We've made reservations for Cagney's later in the evening, but may see you around for sunset. Hope we get our meet and greet organized soon for this sailing. Happy planning

  7. We saw the picture sign of it earlier in the day while dining there back in June on the Escape. We did specialty that night so didn't try it, but looked like the usual fish they offer along with a couple fried shrimp and maybe one other fried item, perhaps scallop? I'd have given it a try, looked like it could have been tasty. If you decide to check it out, please let us know

  8. Haven't been on the Sun, but in our experience on other ships, I'd be likely to try neither of those two - sorry! Although La Cucina would be my choice just to order something different. Really didn't like the lobster I ordered, but the calamari was crispy and pretty tasty, Moderno did have a good salad bar so that made up for the meat feast

  9. We've taken a shore excursion to a lodge where we ate unlimited crab, still talk about how great that day was, absolutely fresh and delicious. Think it might have been Ketchikan. We've also gone out on a boat to catch crab, which was fun because we had a small group of kids they brought along for the ride. The kids were so excited, it really added to the experience

  10. Pretty sure it's just whatever temperature they'd normally do. You'd be surprised at the size of those machines and how much they stuff into them. They had one machine broke on the Escape and you couldn't believe the piles of stacked up sheets and towels everywhere! Another suggestion might be to photo what you send. I'd wished I had after they brought me someone else's shirt and had to spend time trying to remember what I was missing. Ours came back hung up in the closet on plastic hangers, not folded, which I liked much better. Thanks for the idea of hotel's plastic bag, we always take the one from the pre cruise hotel and use it to fill onboard anyway, might as well put inside that paper bag

  11. It's called Blu! Want to mention that I've never felt that Celebrity is such an upscale cruise line as people seem to think. Years back, yes. Now they're actually trying to downplay that image in hopes to attract some new younger pax. They've relaxed their dress code and do these nightly events that you can never get in to see, crowded in the atrium etc. Forget ever getting near the Martini bar, there's just not enough seats, but the bar sure is fun. I recall on my last time just walking around looking for something to do, not what I think of when I sail. I no longer care to spend endless hours in the sun, so that makes a difference in my experience too. Good thing we're all free to do what we want and have a good time....

  12. We're actually about to take our fifth cruise in a years time on the Getaway for the 2nd time. 4 NCL and the Reflection balcony hump cabin (Nice!) this past Jan as well. Had another Reflection cruise scheduled again for same cabin for Jan 2017 but cancelled after the first one to go on the Escape, which we had a blast. We love Celebrity and we're Elite with all their benefits, but always end up with drink promo which we pay to upgrade for the better items and get their Ultimate dining pkg, so we end up paying $600 addt'l either way. We just got bored with the same old stuff and menus Celebrity has. Same old entertainment for the past years and nothing to do other than watch another sales pitch/activity. My husband is your age, I'm younger and for us we just have WAY MORE FUN on NCL, and we're Platinum so enjoying those benefits as well. I think it's just good to mix things up once in a while to get the biggest bang for your buck. I know we'll be back to Celebrity/Royal again, but at the moment enjoying something different. Hope you enjoy your cruise

  13. Thanks for the Epic bathroom description, SuiteTraveler. I've been cruising since '91 and early on was a travel agent/owner that attended every Cruise a Thon they had in Ft Lauderdale or Miami back then. Part of that perk was getting onboard as many ships as you could to see cabins, etc. during turn around day. This is the first time I've heard of any cruise company designing their bathrooms like this. I'll have to start researching the Epic further, but for sure won't be sharing a cabin with my daughter and grand daughter with that arrangement. I'm hoping to get a Solo for myself. I've just recently within the past year come back to NCL after a 10 year absence, so never kept up with the NCL boards till lately. Been giving all my cruise funds to their competitors. OP hope you get your pass and have a great cruise!
