  4. Not necessarily. It's expensive to desalinate water at sea, so ships will often take on potable water from the local water supply while in port.

With the old pagers they couldn't guarantee they would work on another deck or any further than the lobby bar and seating area between the MDR and theater (except for Spirit class which only has aft MDRs). Now you can wait for your table for instance while playing in the casino, in the comfort of your own room, or a lounge not as crowded as the lobby area. Big improvement IMO.
  6. Betting both black and red (or even/odd or 1-18/19-36) hedges the bet in the event one comes up more often than the other in a session. In OP's other thread on the Carnival board, a cruiser who's a casino pit supervisor said some casinos won't allow you to bet like this.
  7. Same response as to the same question you posted on the Carnival board. IF they let you play this you'll lose in the long run; the best you can do is break even if green never comes up. Presumably you're looking to get rated as if you're playing $50 a spin but I think they're unlikely to rate you at all because you're basically wasting their time with an (almost) even money bet, and the house is only going to win (statistically) 1 in 19 spins.
  8. Yes, the water from the faucets is potable and comes from the same source as, for instance, the water and drink dispensers at the buffet.
  9. They would have the right to charge you regular rates (including single supplement). Whether they catch on that he no-showed and if so whether they charge you more is another matter, but you're intentionally planning on him no-showing, you should prepare for that possibility. Probably wouldn't deny you boarding unless they caught it before leaving the homeport and you refused to pay the additional charges. But personally I'd be worried the whole cruise that they'd figure things out at some point and charge me the additional amount, to the point that I wouldn't even be able to enjoy the cruise.
  10. Also keep the cabinet door open when possible (e.g. when you leave the room) so the warm created by the fridge (actually a cooler) doesn't keep recirculating in the cabinet.
  11. Post-restart it's also happened if the dancers but not the singers were sick with COVID. Granted the cast work unmasked in such close proximity to each other that they usually get sick together or at least initially all get quarantined at the same time due to having potentially exposed each other.
  12. Not sure how's it's inexcusable when Carnival calls the cast "singers and dancers." There are usually 2 females and 2 males who are clearly the lead singers. They do some dancing but the rest of the cast are clearly dancers, not singers. Yes they're probably lip-synching, or if they're singing they're not on a hot microphone anyway. But in any event, in my experience the quality of the shows usually hinges on the lead singers. The backup vocals are likely pre-recorded just like the rest of the music.

  14. Not universally true. I know that once it's put out on the buffet it can't be served again. I imagine there's a limit on how long, once cooked, food can be kept at temperature until it has to be thrown out. But it's not unusual to see food on the buffet that's obviously leftovers or somehow re-imagined from the last night's MDR menu. For example, there is often beef stir fry on the buffet. I've noticed that the kind of beef used varies, possibly depending on what MDR beef dish was on the menu last night.
  15. Ummmm no. Two completely different animals. Now what they do serve in the MDR are Caribbean lobsters (also called rock or spiny lobsters). They are harvested much smaller than Maine lobsters (which is why people are saying they're only 4-6 bites). But the menu MDR only says lobster, not one pound Maine lobster, and you can order as many as you want, so I never understand why people complain about complimentary lobster in the MDR.
  16. Each Plat or Diamond can take a certain number of guests. Yes to priority tendering at HMC. Used to be you could go to Guest Services anytime and they'd send you to the forward elevators where there was a dedicated employee with an elevator key to take or send you down directly to the deck where they were tendering. Last couple of cruises they only did priority tendering for a specified time frame after arrival. If you're not ready to go ashore in that window, you either take a number like everyone else or wait for general tendering when a number is no longer required.
  17. I meant that lobster is only served in the MDR on one of the two formal nights on a 7-day cruise, notwithstanding the inconsistencies in what Princess may call them (i.e., Princess's website calls them both formal nights).

  21. That's one of the risks. Even if Carnival ignores your weed, the authorities in any port you visit have the right to come on the ship with drug dogs.
  22. Crown had filet on the buffet one night last month. It was actually pretty good, not overcooked or dried out. Biggest problem was they didn't have steak knives at the buffet.
