It's going to be fun walking around the buffet with plates of food looking for someplace to sit
You can barely find a seat at the buffet and the pool now, and in the rain......What a mess!

Funny!!! :)

Whew, good to know. Wouldn't want to get banned for something so silly. Mine was good, too...it involved The Most Interesting Man in the World sticking pretzel rolls down his pants [emoji13]
I would like to see that.......post please LOL

Glad you deleted that.......I wasn't sure where you were going with that post :)

Washy washy crew on the way in and blocky blocky crew on the way out! :D
LOL.......It's so true!

Some people really just don't know how all this works. I'm sure people don't do it so others find out everything they can about them. OTOH, one can't live in a box either. Just need to be careful.
Harriet
Human beings are social animals. I am new to FB, and twitter I only used for NCL. I agree one has to be careful!
I would hate for Cruisers on CC to be so paranoid, that they stop posting live from the ships with photos.
-
But remember when you post on that type of fb page.....the potential for every single fb user on the planet to see your personal stuff is exponential even on a closed group fb page.... You do not know who else is a member
So you are potentially giving up your real name and cruise date..... And possibly your home town and your kids pix/profile pix etc ....to complete strangers.... But that just mho of course
Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Of course I didn't put my name, location or personal info on the NCL FB page or twitter. But I did put a link to CC, but I guess people could always go to the Roll Calls if they want to see when people are traveling.
I did have a great girl Amy from NCL post her email and she fix my problem....We will see when we get onboard.
-
Some people here need that lesson. They post here and post there, revealing their name, their location, etc. It's crazy.
I guess you're saying we shouldn't join the CC Roll Calls either. I never thought of that

If you ever thought a restaurant/venue was busy before, just you wait. Apparently many people like to spread around the ship or their room from casual take out places or to have their dessert later after dinner time. Now that they can't, you'll find most of them jammed into restaurants at similar times. Good luck getting a table. Have fun with any service you're expecting to get.
Anyone want to bet how many housekeeping staff will be put to pasture because the ships will magically stay cleaner now?
I think if you advertise Freestyle you have to kinda, sorta be Freestyle too otherwise the nomenclature means nothing. And if your company doesn't mean anything, well, how far are you going to get from where you are today? And will it be in the right direction? NCL, you will need a LOT more than first timers to keep your upcoming megaships packed and operating profitability to pay the note.
I understand a business needs to generate revenue and hopefully make a profit, and for a new CEO especially to differentiate and take things to another level. But they should remember that they are the commodity, not the customer.
The customer is the guest. NCL is in the hospitality business. We give NCL discretionary income for a vacation that is supposed to be relaxing and out of the ordinary day to day life. Someone up there ought to get that message loud, clear, and soon before they end up with some capacity problems.
I agree with you the ship is going to feel even more crowded then before.
Absolute madhouse!

If you read the official general post and what others have said about the buffet - you can still get food and take it elsewhere. Tell me, how are they going to police the buffet? Don't worry, I can wait.
This from another thread, regarding who said what -
What the OP posted, turned out to be exactly right! Thank you Footballparent for giving us the heads up.
Maywell the new rules on NCL say you are not allowed to take food back to your room. If you have a problem with that then you need to cruise on another cruise line.
Here is the link that is on Cruise critic news:
http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=6346
(4:20 p.m. EDT) -- Norwegian Cruise Line has banned "takeaway" food from its ship restaurants, main dining room and buffet areas.
In other words, if you want to bring food to someone in your cabin or bring your dessert back to your room to enjoy later, you won't be able to do so.

Folks, we need to draw a distinction between raising prices for things already priced (e.g. booze); and removing things which were advertised as free or adding 'convenience charges' to things that did not previously attract them.
To continue the Disney analogy - if they state that the "Ride of Doom" is included in your AI cost and then you arrive and find it is not included, it is an extra charge; that would constitute an offence under most consumer protection laws and a breach of contract at the very least. Their only defence might be 'force majeure' - the ride is unsafe or unserviceable so could not be provided at all.
There is no offence or breach of contract for price increases unless they advertised the price of booze at the time of making the contract and they were included as a term of that contract.
I was talking about the fact that the UDP/promo included the Cirque dinner free the first night.
NCL did take that away and most won't realize it until they are 90 days out and try to book it, Unless they read these boards.
As seen below.
-
It seems like every week there is some sort of new fee and people find out halfway through a cruise they are on and report it here.
They will find out the first night if they have the UDP and Cirque Dinner was included free the first night.
NCL has decided as of July 3rd that is no longer included.

I don't have a copy of the complementary breakfast but it's the same as it always was....that thingie we hang on the door, remember?
Here's a copy of the new Room Service Menu. Blow it up and read the fine print at the bottom in regard to service fees and 18% gratuity fees:

Harriet
Thank you Harriet. Yes I remember the door hanger menu, and the other food that use to have no charge.....and the $5 Pizza.
-
In the same analogy, you purchase the daily meal plan for Disney, except when you get there they tell you in no longer includes breakfast or lunch, you have no problem with that??????
Seriously?
Where do you people come from?
Agree!
-
When someone purchases tickets to Disney World, does Disney tell them that they raise the food prices seasonally or when they raise the prices of their merchandise in their stores. No, they don't announce these things, customers find out when they are in the parks.
If you buy a Disney all inclusive for next year do you think they are not going to honor that, if they raise prices?
No way would Disney pull that!
-
Crazy but I just put a courtesy hold on a 3 night Anthem of the seas for next year, I haven't even looked at another cruise line since the early 90's until a week ago. I am not saying I am ready to abandon NCL/CAS because they have always been good to me and my family but I do plan on looking at other options if things continue as they have been.
I still think of what a waste of money the Revel was when they insisted on no smoking, they could not recover even after back peddling on that, it was to late to attract the people that actually spend money in the casino. I go to AC all the time and had no interest in walking in the front door of that place because of it, I know others felt the same way and look at what happened to them.
2.4 billion to build, that was a very costly mistake if you ask me.
I agree....I hope NCL gets it together.
-
Pizza is no longer being offered 24/7 anywhere on the ship.
Haven/Suites call their butler and he/she can bring you a pizza at no charge pizza is now on the room service menu and can only be delivered to cabins.
Harriet
Are the new room service menus available to view?

That's what we were looking at too - the Havana suites.
It looks like a cool ship. I like those family cabins for people who have young kids they have a separate lounge. I'm looking forward to hearing more about it.
-
Not my experience but give it a try. It may differ between ship's.
I would try the Vista...It makes its debut in May 2016.
The Havana Cabana suites and private pool look really nice. Even the Havana insides look cool.
I am still hopeful NCL will get it together and maybe by the time I go on my June 28th cruise things will be back to normal or better.
IMO the way they went about these changes are a turnoff. I have only sailed with NCL and have been loyal to them and CAS since 2006.
-
I'm thinking we might be using our comps we got for carnival
Yes we really are.....It's worth a try. I have read on the casino boards that the casino is good.
-
NCL will soon regret this move. Not many people are going to order room service now. The restaurants and buffets are going to be even more packed then before.
The worst part is when people are feeling ill they are not going to pay for room service for 2 or 3 times a day.
And now family members may not even be able to bring a meal to the cabin for them.
What is NCL thinking UGH
-
I've read a bunch of comments about traffic being unbelievable in Miami... so I want to get some info on this before I buy my plane tickets for our Sky cruise.
How much time is reasonable (cautious) to plan getting from the airport to the NCL pier; and from getting off the ship to the airport? I guess the second leg needs to account for getting our luggage and getting through customs (assuming no strip search!! LOL!!)
Also, for a 5:00 departure, is it advisable to fly in the night before?
Thanks!
I would fly in the night before, if you could.

If it were me and I had booked with a UDP added as part of the booking promotion I would be insisting that my children also received the included UDP. If you had made the booking under the promotion going on at that time and had booked 4 adults in a cabin then all would receive the UDP.
Why would they even think about discriminating because they are children. As the 3rd, 4th or 8th passenger in the cabin, the charge for them whether full price. 50% off or free would have been the exact same for a 3 year old as a 53 year old. They received no reduction when booking. I would not be letting them get away with this if I was in the position.
I donb't agree with charging children from 3-12 full price in the specialty restaurants but they are entitled to do it. It would have been better had they given proper notice and possibly grandfathered in the folks already booked but we know how great NCL can be with that. They need to fix their website and T & C's and allow the UDP to be purchased for kids. But not giving the promo to children in a cabin is just BS. To all the parents potentially affected by this I hope you make sure you get exactly what you deserve.
Rochelle
I agree Rochelle. The two adults in my room have the UDP and the 11 year old has the Childs dining package.
What does that mean? This was booked as part of the promo.
-
I'm curious how this will work with Teppanyaki where there is no kids meal option. $118 dinner while on a cruise for which we've already paid for our food seems very steep. While we had planned on a few specialty dinners I'm rethinking that now. I have to say I'm not thrilled with all these new $$ changes... very annoying.
I agree.....this has become very stressful :(
