First leg ends tomorrow. I will be glad to get to slightly warmer temps
cd Roy Perez is leaving the ship. We are getting brand new cd who comes from regent. I did not catch his name but I think he goes by initials like jb or jp. I will report back. Maybe some of you know who it is?
We have been on Cunard but only in Queens grill so. I really can’t answer The Cunard board is a great place to post your question. It is a wealth of information
cunard is Sui generis
nothing else like it
and it is not for everyone
I have spoken to every relevant officer on board about the issue. The current dress code is unenforceable and they look like fools. Other lines like regent and explora are resort casual which is what most cruisers prefer. Younger passengers might not even own a tie!
the common sense solution imo is to go formal optional. Those who want to wear tuxes and gowns can do so. everyone else can either wear jacket or smart casual those nights (no jacket). This will not cause the sky to fall.
But there is not an iota of enforcement. Jeans and sweatsuits in view in Atlantide on formal nights. I spoke to first time ss cruiser today. She was aghast
This first leg of itinerary boring
I thought these small Icelandic towns would be interesting
they are not. Lol
also am hating the cold
last time we were in iceland in July we had fab weather
cold impacts our dining choices. Pool grill and hot rocks too cold. I prefer not to eat with blanket on me
cant blame cruise line for weather
There have been food and service glitches but they have been resolved to my satisfaction
second leg is uk so should be better port wise and weatherwise
every cruise is different.
my last regent cruise was Cape Town to Buenos Aires. Really can’t compare.
we enjoy ss regent and just had fab cruise on seabourn
Because the policy on board is to ignore those who ignore the dress code. Once a passenger sees that he has no incentive to dress up on the next formal night
a rule that is not enforced is not a rule at all
if some lone asked me about the dress code on this ship, I would tell them what is stated but also that there is no enforcement
Remember this is one cruise. And it’s a cold weather cruise in Iceland. People are wearing parkas and wool hats.
it might be different on a transatlantic, Mediterranean or Caribbean cruise
this cruise is very different from my 2 prior cruises on the Moon in many ways
I really don’t care what others wear. But I was asked to comment on whether the dress code was enforced. The answer is no.
are most people compliant? Yes
Are most guests dressed in formal attire? Tuxes and gowns? No.
So I had a meeting with the exec chef about some food issues and I asked if he ever makes tarte tatin ( my favorite)he replied special order only and you shall have tomorrow night
