  1. I must be blind. I just went to NCL.com and could not find anything to do with a veteran's discount. I looked under My Account and tried the Help button. I wish all cruise lines would use the same method for determining military history. I've used ID.me and the one that HAL uses, I forget its name. Plus whatever Princess uses, which is the one I use the most often. If you can send me a link to where that veteran's section is it would be appreciated! Doug
  2. Dang, I've sailed with NCL a lot as I said earlier, and if I've even gotten a military discount it was transparent to me. I will check with my TA who booked those NCL cruises, including the one coming up next March. He may have gotten a military rate for me and just didn't mention it. Doug
  3. You're getting a military discount? Is it a special cruise that offers that? I'm retired military and cruise NCL about ever other March, but I've gotten a military OBC like many other cruise lines, nor a special 10% military rate as far as I know. We sail NCL out of New Orleans since we can drive to that port. Doug
  4. Ours is, Brilliance of the Seas. But ouch! So some ships you cannot even pre-order from that meager triad! That's really rotten. 😳 Doug
  5. A good question for your cabin steward since he could be the fellow tootin' them come midnight. I know it's pretty late when they start moving the bags. We are always in bed at that time on all past cruises. But then we get between the sheets about 2200/10PM. If you are worried about those packed bags taking up too much room in your cabin, we have put them on our balcony if we're packed early. Of course, it helps to have a balcony... and decent weather that last night.......😉 Doug
  6. I used to know this but forgot. We have TriCare for Life with my USN military retirement. I believe it is valid outside the USA, but only as a secondary payer. I never count on it for anything though, I buy insurance as if I didn't have it. Doug
  7. I don't see where it varies by ship at that link. All one can do on that page is choose between the three spirits offered. Clicking on one of those three then shows fields for the ship and the date appear and are for selecting your cruise. Or are you saying that once onboard I might be able to order a bottle for delivery to my cabin? Princess is/was like that; either pre-order, or order from cabin service once under way. We're still working on how we're going to handle the adult beverage situation on the Brilliance....but we have lots of time; our sail date isn't until October of 2024. 😎 We also need to figure out if we can bring soft drinks with us when we board. Anyone know? Doug
  8. Thanks for that link. Looks like I will very likely be packing a RunRunner for this cruise! I do drink "sippin'" rum occasionally in place of scotch or bourbon, but only the good stuff, aged 8 yrs and older. I'm not sure how the Bacardi Gold would go down.....might try a bit before we sail to see if I can tolerate it. I don't mix anything but perhaps a wee bit of water in my spirits. Their "mixers" would probably be used with lunch on the patio perhaps. Doug
  9. Jeez, I'd hope they offered more than those three! I'll have to check online, I could not remember where that section is, but your "Royal Gifts" reminded me......gotta go check..................thanks Doug
  10. Yeah, I've done that in the past. I'd pack an empty RunRunner and order a scotch after lunch, neat, then take that to the cabin and pour it into the RumRunner for later. I might do that every day although I might not have a drink in the cabin or balcony that day. Sometimes, rarely, we'd have our drink in one of the bars....such as when it was raining, etc. If it turns out I had scotch left at the end of the cruise, I'd just take it home with me in the RumRunner. Worked very well. Doug
  11. Can we order a bottle of booze for cabin delivery? I know the selection would be very limited, and the price very high, but sometimes the convenience of a bottle in the cabin trumps quality. 😉 Doug
  12. Same for me regarding "hard liquor" in general. I wish I could bring a bottle of my favorite scotch with me when I board. I would have no problem at all paying a reasonable fee to do so. On cruises where one can order a bottle for cabin delivery, the choices of brands is usually limited to stuff I'd prefer to use only use as paint remover!😎 Having said that, can anyone answer if I can order a bottle of "paint remover" (scotch) on an RCI ship? Seems like I did that many years ago on the Serenade and Silhouette, but like many things going south, my memory has holes in it also........🤔 We don't have a drinks package on our next RCI cruise. Doug
  13. It's been several years since we sailed on any ship without a beverage package. For our next RCI cruise, which isn't until the end of 2024, I'm wondering how and if I can order a bottle for the cabin? We don't have any beverage package on this booking. I know we can bring a bottle of wine each when we board, but that we cannot "legally" bring spirits onboard. I also think we can bring a six-pack or so of soft drinks? On Princess, HAL and Carnival I've ordered scotch pre-sailing. I THINK I did that once or twice on Celebrity, but it's been several years ago before we started getting some sort of beverage package mixed in with our cruise price. I hope RCI allows passengers to order a bottle for cabin consumption. If not, that's a big problem for me. 😳 We like our drinks on the balcony in the evening before dinner. I'd rather not have to go to the bar to get something for myself. My wife will already have her wine in the cabin. Doug
  14. Ever had to file a claim? If so, with which company did you make your claim? I've had two policies a couple of times now, but never had a claim. Usually I've gotten the cruise line's policy because it's a good price and has CFAR, but I have additional insurance for more generous medical, evacuation, etc coverage. In my nightmares I can see company A saying, no, you should file with company B, not us. Surely there is some legal logic with which company to file first? I'm sure it's not up to me, that would make too much sense!😉 Doug
  15. We ended up booking an aft view cabin for our October 2023 cruise. I am not comfortable booking any "guarantee category", so we went with our next favorite cabin type. As to other passengers peering into our balcony, heck, they have to suffer the consequences! I look quite shocking in the morning with my first cup of coffee. If they look, I am not responsible for their reaction!😳 Doug
  16. Thanks, I'll ask my TA for a copy. I occasionally get something similar to that from other cruise lines when there has been a change to the air travel I've booked through the cruise line. The last time we cruised on HAL was several years ago so I don't recall if I got one from them. Doug
  17. I know from past experience that my TA has always said I need to apply myself for both my military and my shareholder credits; which makes sense to me. I have no trouble doing that, so it's never been an issue before. The final invoice (and others) I get from my TA, marked Paid in Full, lists the credits that HAL provides such as beverage package, gratuities, specialty dining, etc but has never shown my military or stock benefit. No big thing, they (if the cruise line offers it/them) have always shown up in the past on my account once I board the ship. Sometimes even earlier, as in t he case of my last Princess cruise. I think I've seen it on prior Princess cruises prior to sailing also, but I cannot remember. I'll get on the phone with HAL later this week, and hopefully get a verbal okay that I will receive the military credit. Doug
  18. If I drank enough coffee to justify that $139 I'd never be able to sleep! 😁
  19. In our experience (wife and I) with NCL, it's best to have both cards in hand when ordering a drink for two people. That isn't always the case, depends on the bartender, time of day, how crowded it is, etc. As the cruise progresses, I was asked less and less for both cards. There is no "time limit" on time between drinks. I can't answer about the bucket of beer, etc. Doug
  20. Thanks. The only paperwork I have on this cruise is from my TA, and I booked it before I applied for the military or shareholder credit. I suppose I will just ask him for an update after I've submitted my request for the shareholder benefit. However, in the past he's not included that or the military credit on his invoices. Shareholder credit - Weird. So where does the shareholder credit show up? Doug
