  1. I guess I may not be paying attention. I haven't seen anything like this.
  2. I had no idea what am Azipod was so I looked it up. Azipod is a brand name. Could Princess be using another brand of thruster pod?
  3. Simple solution - I like it. I should have thought of that!
  4. My wife and I were on the Royal earlier this year. It was a little bigger than I liked. Our other cruises were on the Ruby, Crown, and Grand. We haven't had any problem boarding at San Francisco. Disembarkation is a different story. For some reason, rideshare is limited to a relatively small area with no place to sit. It was a zoo and a half when we went to get our Lyft after leaving the Royal.
  5. I believe the easiest way is the best way. Thus, I prepay the tips either directly or through a package. Pay once, be done with it. The average pay (base and tips) on Princess (according to https://shiplife.org/) is about $2600. Add in the free room and board, stewards do pretty good. Giving a steward a tip at the start of a cruise is, in my humble opinion, just plain bribery. Tips are for work done, not work to be done.
  6. I wouldn't leave a vehicle at any BART station - security sucks.
  7. Amazon. Look for a scanner that can get radio frequencies between 156 Mhz and 174 Mhz.
  8. Not weird at all. I have taken my scanner on cruises. Also like to listen to air traffic control.
  9. My brother got me this for Christmas one year. It has a great variety of sauces. It's a great way to discover new sauces. https://amzn.to/3N0RoXA
  10. I run into the circle from the depths of hell myself. In fact, I was wondering why my phone had lost so much power over a couple of hours. It's because that circle was still circling. The only way out is to force stop the app!
  11. Has anyone tried to order the medallion apps on the website? If so, do you know if they run that store on a Commodore 64 or a Vic 20? That has to be the slowest website store I have ever seen!
  12. On the Royal in April 2023, we had an excursion that met on the dock then everyone walked over to the Hornblower dock. (I do not recommend the Hornblower San Diego Harbor cruise. It's actually 2 back-to-back harbor cruises. On both segments, the captain says they have been authorized to accept tips.)
  13. Rule 6 doesn't eliminate the use of large children, nor adults, for that matter.
  14. Your tickets, delivered to your cabin, will tell you where to meet..
  15. I submitted my request on Friday, 2 June, in the evening. I noticed the credit was on my account this morning (7 June). Not bad considering the cruise itself isn't until January 2024.
  16. Yes, yes I am a VIP with Princess. I am a member of the exclusive <cue reverent music; all present bow> Platinum Captain's Circle. <continue reverent music for 5 minutes; all present may stand when music ends>
  17. Gosh darn it! Now that you mentioned it, I do remember reading about this
  18. I received an email from Princess saying I can now book my flights for my cruise! Yea, thought I. I was able to find flights for my wife and me for only $661 roundtrip each! And it would take only 6.5 hours! In spite of the fact that San Francisco Airport (my destination) can be seen from Oakland (my origin), wouldn't you agree that flying between the two is better when you make a stopover in Los Angeles? Further checking indicates that if I go to San Jose, the fare (again, via LAX) is only $427! (Disclaimer: Yes, I know people, at least sane people, wouldn't book flights like the above. I just posted this to put a little bit of levity on the board)
  19. I'd gave to sell it immediately upon winning it. Can't afford the income tax on $100,000!
  20. On our Mexican Riveria Cruise in December 2019, we had a package for $189 that included all [hots not only on a Princess shaped flash drive but also printed out. They had a similar promotion for cruises previous to ours.
  21. I guess I'm lucky in that I can totally tune out others around me when I'm reading. I hear them but, to paraphrase an old saying, the sound doesn't go in one ear.... or the other.
  22. i usually wrap him in recyclable plastic bubble. Yes, I do wipe down the bubble, too.
  23. My CVP got me the premier package for about $80 more than what I originally had. Original: Standard cruise fare to which I added Wi-Fi (one device), Classic soda package, tips CVP: Premier cruise fare - this includes Wi-Fi (4 devices), tips, alcoholic drinks, etc., plus additional OBC (The Wi-Fi will be handy because I always had dickens of a time switching the Wi-Fi between my devices on my last cruise when I had only a single device plan).
  24. A quarter is about 0.955 inches in diameter.
