  1. once you get your air info, log onto the airlines website and see if you can choose seats or upgrade ( both for a fee usually). Also, pay very close attention to the baggage rules. Coming back from Athens, we were on an airline where we had to pay for overhead bin space. Even though there was space in the overhead, if you didn't pay, you could not put ANYTHING in it. Your personal item HAD to fit under the seat in front of you.
  2. You should be able to access your account online from the brokerage company you purchased them thru. Go online, print out your statement , then send it over to the appropriate division at NCL. Make sure to black out your account number. The OBC usually shows up in about 2 days ( or sooner).
  3. For my March cruise out of Miami, Im staying at Riverside Hotel in Fort Lauderdale. Boutique style, but nice. Flying into Fort Lauderdale, taking ride share to Hotel. On day of cruise, taking Brightline to the closest stop to POM ( or ride share direct). I think my room is priced around $250? Last time I stayed at Pullman Hotel, Blue Lagoon. Shuttle provided to/from MIA. Option to purchase transfer to POM on day of cruise
  4. like folks have said, supply and demand. With the new RCCL ship, that's an extra 6,000 plus passengers. If you have 2 big cruise ships , sailing away on same day, you have at least 10,000 folks that need hotels in the area. I once stayed at a very nice AirB&B a few years back for about $150.00 per night. Now it's close to $500 per night. So I now go into Fort Lauderdale, or stay by the airport. Also, EVERYTHING has gotten more expensive.
  5. remember the puzzles on the back of kids cereal boxes ( my fav was Captain Crunch). As for the topic, I only take my cell one when on a cruse ship. I use it as my camera ( even thought i have a really nice digital camera). The phone is left in Airplane mode until I get on land in a port, then I connect to the port wifi, check emails, respond if I need to, then turn airplane mode back on. On sea days, I just leave my phone, turned off in the cabin. Never take laptop or notebook. Even my emails say I am away from the computer for X days, will get back you when back in town.
  6. there is only 1 place I go to for chicken Fried Steak ( and I don't go out to breakfast except when traveling), and that is Family Pancake House in West Bremerton, Wa. Just the right amount of seasoning and thickens in the gravy. Whenever I get to Bremerton, that's on my list. I dont even try anywhere else, always dissapointed.
  7. cant tell you the distance..but I use Rome2Rio app. Plug in beginning and ending point, gives you many options, as well as how long it takes for travel. I think it even shows a nap for the travel options
  8. I rode the carts on Bliss. I think I came in last, or very close. Just stay to the right, and the speedier ones will pass on the left. I personally won't do it again. Im not a speed racer on the freeways, so I didn't feel the need for speed on the track. There is Booster button you can push if you want to speed up and pass. I found it funny that the carts have racing engine sound effects.
  9. I believe I have gone to the terminal without e-docs. I have told agents that I dont have a computer ( traveling pre-cruise) so I cant download any docs. I pull up my reservation on the NCL app, then do a manual check in at the counter. It's been awhile, but I believe that is what I have done a few times in the past. Make sure you write down your reservation number before you leave for your pre-cruise, that way they can look up whatever they may need.
  10. that's the problem with the big ships. They usually cant dock in town ( i say usually, but there always exceptions). They seem to dock in commercial areas, or in docks the cruiselnes have built just for their ships. I do miss walking off the ship, right into town, and just walking for hours. Dont stress the transportation details. The night before, all the info should be provided in the daily planner. If not, go to guest services, and ask how/where you get transportation into town. You can also attend the onboard port information talk in the theatre the day before. They who'd be able to tell you everything you need to know. And if not, it's a good place to ask your questions, as other folks might have the same question. Enjoy your cruise
  11. and that's why I use GPS wherever I go. Im always confused with the names of things.
  12. I have a cruised planed for 2025. Leaves Miami. Im flying into Fort Lauderdale ( I can use my miles, get a non-stop, arrives at 6:30pm). Staying 2 nights in Fort Lauderdale, then thinking of taking the Brightrail ( I think that's the name) to the closest stop to POM. If I understand correctly, there will be some walking from the stop to the port ( probably just get a ride share at the train stop to take us into the port). Is this a doable plan?
  13. just my opinion. I feel it is security related, and that's why we re-enter. Although, when I do travel by air, the airlines have my trusted traveler information on file. But like I say, I dont care if I have to re-enter
  14. I will never do inside cabins again. I will consider ocean view, with picture window. But i really need a balcony. I get up early, my partner sleeps later. I need a place to sit and have my coffee, until he wakes up. Then we will head off to breakfast together. Also, when he is getting ready, I have a place to sit and be out of the way. My conundrum is if Haven is worth 3X the price of a balcony. Only did Haven once, because I wasn't getting off the ship for 14 days.
  15. I would rather have to re-enter all that personal info, than have it stored on file, which can be easily hacked. It's much worse to keep changing passwords and trying to remember which site uses what password.
  16. I assume it's $15-25 per person. The reason I say that is because if you ask for a deviation, they take the $25.00 transfer fee off your statement. But as stated before, call NCL to get a correct answer. If dont use their transport, make sure to do walk off ( taking your own luggage), and be off no later then 8am. LAs is approx. 20-30 min from port ( unless the fwy is backed up). Security lines are a different story
  17. I like to do Specialty dining on sea days, and if there is no production show I am interested in seeing. Tell your server at wherever you are dining of you plan on seeing the early shows. That way they can get you out of the restaurant in time.
  18. Cunard cruisline has Trans Atlantic cruises ( New York- Southampton) which are all sea days. 6 or 7 days straight across the Pond. But then you have to figure the airfare getting back. Look into reposition cruises from your home port. They are 1 way cruises, some have lots of sea days, some dont. you can search for repositioning cruises, 7days or less. Something will pop up.
  19. I stayed at Pullman Blue Lagoon. Pretty cool being out by the pool area at night, watching the planes land. They have shuttle to/from MIA.
  20. its nice to have sea days after port intensive cruises. Gives time to unwind after going non-stop in port. Also sea days gives you time to explore/enjoy the ship. And sea days gives you time to organize for disembarkation.
  21. I don't get off the ship when in Mexican ports. Acapulco is dirty, Cabo is a big upscale shopping mall, Puerto Vallarta is the only nice town to stroll about in. Mazatlan is boring. Being from Los Angeles, its like we already live in Mexico.
  22. Like folks have said, Berlin is about a 3-4 hour train ride. I think someone recommended Rostock. Lovely town, interesting history ( it was levels during WW2, the rebuilt to original specs). That would still give you time to explore arnemunde when you get back ( apparently the Lighthouse in Warnemunde is the only thing to do)
  23. just asking, and I dont know if its offered, BUT, since you are driving up, why not pay for parking at Pan Pacific itself, instead of YVR? I had read somewhere that there are 750 spaces available, for a fee for cruise passengers, and best to pre-book. Seems easier the parking at airport, then getting an uber. Especially with mobility issues. Just a thought
  24. that's the reason they dont want them on a jury. They know the rules of law, rules of civilization, and they have reasoning powers.
