  1. I presume you mean texting to someone off the ship-I had no problem with my Android (just got off Prima)-you need to enable WiFi calling if your carrier offers it (I'm on T-Mobile) and select WIFI preferred. You also need to make sure you activated and connected to the external internet (not just the NCL ship wifi for using the NCL app)
  2. yes, but this way it counts as an internet purchase and I'll get more cash back on my credit card 🙂
  3. Reservation made- we'll see how it goes tomorrow -:)
  4. so far Wed looks to be the nicest day we'll get: https://www.accuweather.com/en/bm/hamilton/2595/daily-weather-forecast/2595 I would have liked to go in late June, but this is the last trip for Prima to Bermuda
  5. Thanks for confirming that the option is new and I'm not going nuts-I was pretty sure I didn't see that when I looked a couple of months ago
  6. you can make a reservation: https://nycruise.com/manhattan-terminal/parking/
  7. Does any one know if a two bedroom suite is treated differently (w/ 3 plats)?
  8. I don't have the offer yet (hoping it comes soon) but does anyone know if onboard spend counts?
  9. You can also get a quick breakfast at the Local, on other ships I always enjoyed breakfast at O' Sheehan's
  10. Thanks-as you say, it is worth a try, but first I would need to get the 60,000 points-right now I only use the NCL card for NCL spend since I get much higher cash back amounts on several other cards.
  11. Thanks! was just curious, I also don't really care about the meal, as on any future cruises (if we go NCL again) we will get the Platinum voucher. We do like to choose our location, and wife is Diamond with CET so we would not get that discount. I also have to think about if it is worth using the NCL card and giving up the higher cash back I get from my other cards.
  12. I have a couple of questions- When you do this can you still select your balcony cabin or is it assigned by NCL? Do you get the same "free at sea benefits" as if you booked the balcony direct (2 specialty meals)?
  13. And of course, hope all improves with FIL so this becomes a moot point..
  14. I would think this is spot on- the whole point is that insurance is not for covering an event that is likely to happen-right now you have a known situation that could cause you to cancel the trip- No matter what, I would see if you can get an extension on final payment due to this from the cruise line
  15. Yep, magnets on the ceiling work great if you have to run the cord from the other side of the cabin
  16. I was just on Oasis-there was an outlet on my side of the bed, but it was slightly behind the bed, I didn't even see it until I asked the cabin steward for distilled water and he pointed it out. I always have an extension cord just in case, never had it questioned. Do not bring a power strip-with or with out surge protector, as those would be confiscated/questioend
  17. 100%. We had the Key on Oasis Mar-5 sailing. Got it mostly for the internet and reserved seating in the shows since I knew sailing was at full capacity. The Key lunch was very good, once we finished, we figured we'd go check on the room-as we were hitting the call button for the elevator, the room ready announcement was made over the PA
  18. Yep, the only thing you can do to reduce effective cost is use of discounted gift cards, or a cash back credit card
  19. Yep, from what we've heard about MSC, my travel CEO/Chairman of the Board (DW) has said that if I suggest them, we would only go if in yacht club (their version of haven). I do like what I've seen heard about Ocean Cay, and the look of the MSC ships.
  20. Your thinking is correct-if you cancel, the port fees and service charges are refunded, so you would only be "out" $1,270.80, and that would be the amount you can claim from the insurance company
  21. You can mention to any one around you that you'll be back in a bit
  22. Yes, I agree-but at least those of us willing to pay would have the option. And if done correctly, the non-paid for chairs would be cleared if not occupied
  23. The best solution for me was what I did on Oasis of the Seas (RCL) 2 weeks ago- They have "Casitas", which are daybeds with roofs that have to be reserved before hand (and cost $$), but with the ship at capacity, well worth it not to have to worry about it I'd would not even mind having to pay a bit to reserve a chair by the pool- another idea is if they could set up "cubbys" by the pool-just to have a place to put a towel or two while in the pool
  24. One answer is to implement some sort of chair check in system-every chair could have an assigned number, and you need to see a staff member first to check you in-
