  1. I believe you have to wear long pants and socks, so check on that before you pack.
  2. If you google the Galveston webcams, you can see her on the Cruise and Marina cams. Looks like a gorgeous day in Galveston today.
  3. Yes, their cruise was round-trip from Galveston to Cozumel and Costa Maya.
  4. @smokeybandit my family of four stayed at the Pan Pacific in June 2022 in one room, so there are definitely rooms there for four people. @surgie I don't remember if the beds were queen or full, but I'm pretty sure they were queen.
  5. If you're on a cruise and book another one while onboard, what do you get? Reduced deposit? OBC? I read somewhere that you can then transfer the booking to your usual TA or maybe that RCCL does that for you. I'd appreciate some basic info. Thanks!
  6. You may have already gotten some info by now, but there will be very little floor space to try and put a mattress on the floor, not to mention it would be difficult to get the mattress off the pullman bunk. The pullman beds do have rails on them down the sides, so you can't really roll off.
  7. You don't mention the dates, but we were on Adventure this past New Year's Eve from Galveston and that was the actual departure date. They had formal night on NYE, the first night of the cruise. Lots of photo opportunities, lots of folks dressed up even fancier than a usual formal night, lots of younger kids dressed up to match their parents. You wouldn't normally have a formal night on the first night of a cruise, but they took advantage of it being NYE.
  8. There will be announcements made in the Cruise Compass (the nightly newsletter) if the paper version is delivered to your stateroom or in the app, if the ship isn't doing paper, so you'll know the night before, if not earlier than that about the times. Third-party excursion vendors will know what time your ship will be in port; their business depends on it.
  9. We were on Adventure this past January (2023) and didn't have to make any show reservations.
  10. If you're on Facebook, follow the Port of Galveston page and they have discount codes on there all the time.
  11. @harryfat1 I'm only two paragraphs in to your introduction and I'm already hooked. 😄 And we have zero plans to cruise on Navigator, but I'm still reading!
  12. We're on Harmony in January, first time on a ship large enough that entertainment reservations are required. Which shows usually require reservations?
  13. We did the all-access tour on Adventure this past January and the screenshot that @killtheump posted is the same info that we got. Long pants, closed toe shoes were the main thing. Also, we were wanded by a ship security officer twice during the tour, so be prepared for that.
  14. We went to Playa Mia this past January (2023) with our kids -- ages 30, 25 and 21! 😁 They all loved it and yes, there's lots for younger kids to do.
  15. There's at least one other fairly recent thread on it. Do a search in this forum and you'll see lots of replies on it.
  16. @roupa yes, I could have explained that better. To the OP, you can always get alcoholic drinks or sodas on an individual basis and they will be charged to your onboard account. You don't have to buy a beverage package for that. DH and I don't drink that much so we'll get maybe 3-4 drinks over the week and the beverage package is never worth it for us.
  17. Also know that you can have a perfectly wonderful cruise without paying for any of these extras, other than the cruise fare, port taxes, and daily tips for your stateroom attendant, waiters, etc. The daily tips are per person per day (roughly in the $16-18 range) and will be charged directly to your stateroom account. Also, you'll pay for any excursions in port, either RCCL or private vendor excursions. We've cruised 10 times and have never paid extra for any beverage packages, specialty dining, or any of that. I'd have to cruise lots of times before I'd consider paying extra for food and drink when there's plenty of food and drink included in your cruise fare.
  18. @texasts we are on Harmony in Jan. 2024 in 11604, almost directly on the other side of the ship from 11198. 🙂
  19. If the cruise is still a year away, seems like the RCCL excursions wouldn't be available yet. But as OCSC Mike said, there are lots of independent tours in Alaska that are great.
  20. I have the same question. This is my first time to follow a deployment thread from the beginning so I don't know where the "new" information is coming from.
  21. Noticed this afternoon that the GGG link is now updated to July 11 and 12. One day when we're retired, we'll be able to take advantage of some of these.
  22. I don't know anything about Royal Up but we were in an aft junior suite on Serenade (sister ship to Jewel) last summer (June 2022) and we loved it. It was on 10 under the Windjammer. We would occasionally hear people talking but it was never too loud. Rarely heard any chairs scraping. I can't tell you what to bid on, but I got very spoiled to that aft balcony.
  23. @Tree_skier when I posted, I didn't realize it was a 4-night sailing.
  24. One difference you might not expect (especially with little kids) is that RCCL doesn't have self-serve laundry rooms like Princess does. You can have laundry done in the hot water and hot dryers by the staff, at a cost per item or a once-a-week stuff-everything-you-can-into-this-plastic-bag for $30-35.
