  1. Except it doesn't show my name it could look like anybodies position statement. The actual monthly statements as well as the Trade Confirm statements that look more like printed docs show my name and account numbers. I would assume they would want to match that stuff up.
  2. Question about documentation to those with experience. I just bought 100 shares for an upcoming cruise but I did it in an IRA that only kicks out brokerage statements on a quarterly basis. I expect one of those will be available at the end of September if need be. However has anybody ever sent in a Buy Trade Confirm Statement which shows your name and purchase of 100 shares? Unfortunately screen shots probably would not work in my case because they do not show my name on any screen with the purchased share summary.
  3. There is a big difference between in ship wifi and ship servers and ship to internet stuff.
  4. You should be complaining about their Wi-Fi technology then and having local servers.
  5. Speaking of apps and you may already know this, we are booked on the Southern Australia Circumnavigation leg and it appears they now force you to use smartphone apps for getting the ETA Visa. Oceania sent us an email saying they can no longer do this for the passenger. It was was a nice wizard walking through all the steps but it is not like my 2016 trip where I did it through a website. This one wanted to read the chip on my passport and scan my face amongst lots of other questions. Still it was only $13 or so and good for a full year vs 3 months or so in the old days
  6. GEEZ - Thats because they can't hire people not because of the APPS. Example: We had a favorite seafood restaurant that has been here for 40 years just close down and consolidate it's staff with another location because they could not get enough servers and cooks.
  7. Possible but please don't tell we all have to live our vacations one way!
  8. Other cruise lines can do all this. This is not an excuse. Information should be provided in all the forms possible. We are all not the same. Just because a number of people prefer to live their lives low tech does not mean the hi tech people should have to follow suit. Sometimes you just don't want to carry paper with you. In an ideal world I would like access to the menus off ship when we have a late/over night departure. I might choose to eat in town or go back depending on the menu that day. Thats in an ideal world lets not discuss technical hurdles. Also in an ideal world you could put in a custom meal request for something on the app Having a reminder on my smart watch telling me to go to a spa or some other appointment would be nice. I shouldn't have to add the appointment manually to my calendar because the app should know. Likewise if they are running behind I would be notified as well.
  9. Yes I can tether my iPad and/or mac to my Magenta iPhone. No extra charge. Up to 10 devices. One example is We had a power failure at the house My iMac is on a UPS. I switched the Wifi connection on the iMac to my cell phone and was able to do a few things before the UPS drained to zero. The wife also used the iPad in the car tethering to her phone while we are on long day trips. This is one reason I don't pay for the cellular option on my tablets. I haven't tried it but I wonder if its a way around the single login on Oceania by tethering to the phone which then uses the ships Wifi.
  10. Some folks will always be Low Tech but many old folks are surprisingly Hi Tech after we are all on this forum talking to each other so that must mean something. The newer phone and watch devices are especially helpful to the older generation with their heart and oxygen monitoring and fall alerts. To me just being able to find something when we are going somewhere is a marriage saver. The find your partner app is especially helpful if you want to know where your traveling companions are for a get together.
  11. Onboard you would use wifi to connect to the ship data. Many people when they travel look for free wifi spots at coffee shops and other places. They also buy travel sims for a nominal amount of money for the countries they are traveling in. Newer phones support something called eSims where you electronically add a second provider to your phone when traveling. Airalo being a good example. In fact think about it. You are in a strange place and wish you had a map or some device to help you find that cool restaurant or entertainment venue. BAM this little device tells you how to drive/walk/train to your location and back WITHOUT having to worry and get lost.
  12. It’s simple those that want to use the app can and those that don’t don’t. It’s not one size fits all but times are changing and you have to adjust to the next generation as they are your next set of passengers. At some point there may be a tipping point but Oceania should not ignore the changes occurring in the rest of the entertainment and travel industry. IT has given Us the ability to do things we could not do 20 years ago. You can search for things and find better options whereas before you took what you got.
  13. Seriously I am not trying to make fun of anybody but we are all cruisers who travel and if you have a better or equivalent cell plan I would like to know about it. It's something we all use (at least I think we do). I have a senior plan and I did not think Verizon offered that (at least in California). I have free international high speed data not just texting and I did not think that was an option on Verizon either. In addition to the other things listed I would like to know if there is something better for me. You seem to imply there was something close. This thread is about apps and its under cruising - two things where cell phones intersect. FYI my rate is $90 total for 2 lines for all the above stuff. There is a cheaper plan for $70 for 2 lines that includes slower international data and no Netflix but I felt the option was worth it for me.
  14. But there is no app whats to discuss?
  15. Please, I am curious can you match up the Verizon features to my list and tell me your monthly bill for 2 lines.
  16. The new phones coming out this fall will have satellite backup to your local signal. T-Mobile is great in that I can use it on my 55+ discount plan that gives me: 1 year AAA $10 monthly discount of of YouTube TV Included Netflix Included International data Discounted senior plan for me and my wife 1 year Paramount Plus $10 of of Philo TV And satellite access coming to new phones - https://www.t-mobile.com/news/un-carrier/t-mobile-takes-coverage-above-and-beyond-with-spacex
  17. Not a problem. We both use 1password - All passwords are in an cloud encrypted vault accessible to both of us including all our 2 factor codes on our phones as well as our tables an desktops. There is always a local copy. The cloud is for syncing changes and updates. That cloud also allows document storage as well as data attributes like licenses, URLs, Vaccination Cards, ... I also have a document stored in the encrypted that she can read that explains all the stuff I know about the house.
  18. To each his own. I love knowing everything is in one place. On my phone I can check my home: Security Cameras Water Usage and notifications for leaks Irrigation circuits All the light switches and schedules Solar Panels Furnace Washer/Dryer status BBQ Propane tank level Car status Door locks Credit cards Fast food order and pay All my streaming and DVR recordings All my photos and backups of passports/medical/licenses/... All our calendar events of what has and will happen. Old receipts from places like Costco are all online Why should I want to carry around dailies. Maybe I am on a shore excursion and need to make a decision of eating at the port, or eating at the ship. Contacting the ship for an emergency or other question Confirmation of some request without looking at a phone message. Exact port times and back at ship rules. Where to meet for things I am sure I can think of a lot of other things.
  19. This one area Viking seems way ahead of Oceania. On Viking you can see all the extensions, shore excursions, and book specialty reservations well before you leave your house. Once you are on the ship seeing the menus and daily activities amongst other things as well as your complete personal calendar. With Oceania it seems the only thing I can do is submit passport info and book excursions on a browser before I leave. I haven't experienced the TV yet as our first cruise with Oceania is upcoming. This does seem an area they are behind pretty much behind everybody in.
  20. We did Celebrity Sydney to Auckland back in 2016. We paid for the off ship overnight excursion getting off in Milford Sound and reboarding in Dunedin. We stayed overnight in Queenstown. They took us to many stops including Sheep shearing in Queenstown and the Kawarau river gorge bungee jump sight. We definitely got to see a lot of New Zealand south island and the transition from snow to rolling green hills. There was an upscale option to ride in a minivan vs the bus with a more intimate tour that I am still curious as to how much better it was than our motorcoach ride.
  21. We were supposed to be on your sailing but came down with Covid just before the sailing date in addition to some other issues. Any stories to share? Is there much quarantining going on?
  22. Worse yet - I can't understand them half the time!
  23. If they did move it I should still be open it in its new location. When I tried to open it under the notifications list representing the last poster that referenced me I get permission denied.
  24. The guide lines state decisions are final and no notification to any participant will happen. I am hoping that posting this reference doesn't get this thread removed https://boards.cruisecritic.com/guidelines/ Posts may be removed from our forums at the sole discretion of Cruise Critic without notification to the author or discussion participants. We may also MOVE a post to our Floataway Lounge that has veered off the original topic. All decisions regarding post removals are final. .
  25. If that was the case I wish they could just delete that post! I am sure it was helpful to others with varied but close situations.
