Comedians usually don’t stay on a ship for more than a week or two. Since the return from COVID I’m noticing some of them staying on ships for a month. Keep an eye on my comedy schedule. I try to update it on Friday or Saturday. The comedians that post their schedules publicly get added. Right now I have Jorge Solano for your 10/30 cruise.

  2. Question

We sailed the Horizon July 24th and are cruising on her again October 30th.

The main reason for the repeat is the Piano Bar Entertainment - Eden Parker and Jeffrey Munks.  In addition to the ports of call and a 8 day vacation.

However, we enjoyed the comedians, but wondered if they will have others on board instead.   They often repeat with the same type of shows; hence the question.

    Thank you for your time.

OK, got the announcement from  Carnival today.  It's all getting real.  We're scheduled to cruise on the Mardi Gras, leaving Thanksgiving weekend.  With the testing, and wearing masks indoors, I'm questioning how enjoyable it will be.  I like the Playlist Production type entertainment, and the live music at the bars in the evening.

For those who sailed with the masking policy, was it as fun?  Originally, I didn't think it would bother me, but now I'm wondering if sailing in November with these guidelines might be like a death by 1000 cuts.  Would you sail again with the masking?  The alternative would be going to Disney.

if you go Disney you will be masked up - we just got off the Disney Fantasy and everyone was masked indoors.  Some wore mask outdoors just used to having them on.  Some outdoor crew wear them too.

It is a way of Covid life.

Fun is what you make it - ask yourself how "do I handle wearing mask now in what I partake in".....there's your answer......

We did not wear mask outside

Also sailed july 24th on Carnival and we chose to mask on on our own.....we cruise again on Carnival Oct 30th......

again, it is what we make our cruises - pure R&R at our own pace.....

Not cruising on the PANORAMA again until January 29th (final payment Oct 31st). You cruise pros that have John Heald's ear might know the answer. Look into your future ball and tell me if I will "most likely" be able to avoid the 36-72 hour Covid test before boarding? Otherwise going to cancel. Just tired of all the hoops, restrictions and conditions. 34 Carnival cruises, maybe I've had enough.

Ha Ha Ha - not soon....Duh....

I know our Horizon was changed all around but we have not been officially notified at all.

We were got a Carnival letter in an email yesterday....when we booked the Oct 30th trip we figured this would go to Curacao instead as Bonnaire which has been closed.....we'd rather go to Curacao as our preference but we feel for those that really wanted Bonnaire....we just don't see them opening for some time - 2022 at best....

Sorry for the change for you - they should have sent you a notice.....seems so much correspondence some things may fall through the cracks but this is important.

Praying for a better world in 2022......too many have left us.....we heard our old pastor is being pulled from support today and may all our prayers be with him, family, and church....so sad....

Those were the words from my PVP in February after I booked my November 2021 cruise on the Liberty.

That was after three COVID cancellations.

This one will go for sure she said.

Seven months ago, who would have guessed?

I took the refund this time.

At least my Sept cruise on the Magic is still a go...

Please order a crystal ball from Amazon - that will have all your answers ......in this world - expect the unexpected.....

**Asking for a friend we are traveling with, my kids are fully vaxxed.**

Carnival's website is not clear regarding exactly which ports unvaccinated kids may leave the ship if not on a Bubble Tour. The Covid-19 protocols page states that unvaccinated may go ashore on their own when stopping in private ports of call "like Half Moon Cay and Princess Cays". Does anyone know if the cruise developed port areas right off the piers at Amber Cove or Mahogany Bay are open to unvaccinated kids under 12? Since both areas are restricted to ship passengers, it seems like not difference between the port area and the outdoor areas of the ship.

If anyone has sailed recently to either and can confirm yay/nay it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

ARUBA, DR, AND CURACAO - Not getting off unless a bubble tour - ship bound......probably more like that everywhere else too

I know there is another thread about this but it simply references the CDC recommendation.  People need to know this is now official with all sailings after 9/13.  So you now must get a test within 2 days of your cruise not 3 days.  Things are rapidly changing and we need to make sure everyone has the most up to date info.

Thanks....I did not pick up on the 2 day requirement just yet....we sail late Oct and figured it may happen....you're right, people do need to know and thank you!

I am currently on Carnival Magic. I have about 25 Carnival cruises behind me.

I will agree with the OP. The buffet is VERY limited compared to what Carnival used to provide. I can excuse closed stations, etc. But the offerings here are poor compared to pre-covid cruises.

Yes, I believe it will change as things move on, but truth is truth. Today the buffet is not what it used to be.

Out a Pandemic like this and the company is trying to sail and trying to survive???

Give me a break....I don't mind the popcorn $3 cost, but agree Bacon ,makes me wonder....

We all signed up for early the early sailing and we were happy with the July 24th sailed (self protected).....We are on Disney this weekend and on Carnival again Oct 30th...just saying what do you want ?

I'm the first to propose postings but we all need to  look in the mirror, what is your thinking, expectations, and deliverables????

Hoping you all have a great item.....we will masked up and distanced.....an older couple that loves to cruise.....

    SOmeday Diamond....

    A silver spoon.....

  11. Folks - your on Carnival.....what more can you expect.....remember - a lot of the cruise experience is what you also make it.....

If you want upscale - go HAL or RCL or others.....

for us we are happy with carnival to just kick back and not worry about the high and mighty....we are easy to please.....

Hoping everyone enjoys what they can as it's hard enough in these times....never thought we'd see this type of stuff in our older age....

Enjoy life, it's the only one you have....

Well, as expected it's horrible and I mean horrible...... I've sailed Carnival before .... and NCL, MSC, Holland, Princess, and Royal. I've thought my Vista experience a few years ago was bad but this buffet is laughable. Imagine having this huge seating area on the Panorama and like 8 nasty dishes to choose from .... like Chili Mac, some rice, some pasta, some slads etc ..... 2 of the four center stations have no food at all, zilch,, and the two that are being used are the exact 8 awful lunch  items. This is the same for breakfast. They do have a carving for station for lunch which is acceptable ...... Just can't figure out why Carnival offers far and wide the worst and most awful Lido food of any cruise line ..... it's like staring at my old high school cafeteria again with that look of "good god, really?". They have a sandwich station which made me a meatball sandwich which equally sucked . MDR, Jijis,  and Pig and Anchor has been good but as an opinionated post and an FYI thr Lido buffet for breakfast and especially lunch had been a monumental disappointment.

You set your own expectation and meet it, so what's wrong....The cruise we were on had very good buffet food......giad they met your expectation

I beg to differ when you say "Carnival has always requested that guests NOT email the Maitre'd". I have emailed them on the past 11 cruises and received a very pleasant confirmation from each of those requests. Where does it say what you have stated? After 25 cruises, I believe I would have seen, or been told, that by now.

Never - I mean never have we we ever received an email back for the Carnival Maitre D....although they usually has us sorted out before boarding....it's nice to have reassurance in today's COVID world.

Go fish and just power for the chorus....

    What California aftermath?

That's another story...not sure what to say....hoping they had 100% crew vax and waiting 15 days before cruising....the Visita is what brought tears to the eye as far as prevention, but total numbers makes me wonder.....what type of vax for cruise....pax's...repeat type of infection on what type of age / shot type....too many clouds (of unknown) to know and the Carnival non transparency of info makes many wonder....hence the post....

The Vista had a total of 27 cases with an onboard population of 4336. Not intending to start an argument, but it was an incredibly limited and confined case count (that was clearly well dealt with, as it did not then turn into 40, 100, 500, and 4000 cases on board...).

For context, the case rate on board over 7 days was 0.00622*, and can be compared to Houston (right up the road) with a seven day case rate of 0.01983 (averaging 0.002834 per day)**.

Describing it as a "blow up" simply isn't accurate and bears correction whenever indicated as such. In actuality, nearly every part of the entire USA wishes that their case rate was that low over 7 days.

    *source = math, simple division

**source = Houston/Harris County Covid data set, accessed on 8/31/2021

As to the topic of this thread, I also appreciate the explanation of the system flush / sterilization of shower devices.

I agree with you....we are cruising on Disney this Sat...and back on the Horizon Oct 30th....we stay to ourselves...wash frequently...yes and we wear mask....table for two please....I think hanging in groups can be a risk...just stay smart...yes low numbers and I like that they are pre-testing....Carnival is doing thing sin the right direction, they just don't let you know what's going on behind the scenes, not to create a scene, but it would be nice to know true number to squash a lot of this like you said -0 very low - agreed!

Well, they can't notify you in advance of someone becoming ill. 😏

And I'm sure they weren't diagnosed with this on the ship so there would have been no way to tell anyone at that time.

The point is they don't tell you with sick Covid cases popping....I know they are getting them and figured there would be a small pocket - those had coming on and maybe getting in port or off some.....

The Horizon was Green on Saturday and yellow again....

After the Visita blow up, CCL sending a letter means something, but to whom, (selected?)...John Heald has some convenient days off in the California aftermath...what timing...sweep in under the carpet - oh this is fun......

I always sail with my kids but this time we left the 11 and 13 year old home. That being said .....why would they belive that bringing a screaming kid into the relaxation area of the spa was a good idea, allowed, or ok? All the kids stuff on deck is open. They did it on purpose and were trying to get away with it. Many other places one of the adults could have taken this child.

Duh....enough said....just like dirty diapers in a main pool....same clientele.....

  18. Wall i guess for us July 24th cruisers we aren't sick by now so be it?   Although the smell was terrible at certain parts of the hallways on deck 8 midway.

So much for transparency about illness on Carnival

    Always seems after the fact.

So if you sail, be smart how  to travel.  We will mask up inside,m wash frequently.  We spray and wipe down our own room too.  Must have a balcony to flush the air a bit.

I feel for the crew that need the income.

Prayers for this industry and form of vacation - it is the best type of vacation our opinion,

Sailing Saturday on the Disney Fantasy and the Carnival Horizon Oct. 30th so we hope.

  19. Again, just a ploy for saving cost....long term contract - come on - are ya not thinking the next thing is coming up - Popcorn charges - okay - now bacon every other day.

Ya all lost lobster years ago on short cruises....

Just like Southwest 10 peanuts to a bag....

Yes wewe get what we pay for and Carnival is still a good cruise deal, but come on man....

    Go fish....got any PORK

Is this posted in any Carnival ligature?

I've heard of people being turned away with wrong test and want to be sure when we check in.

You won't be there to represent us, but Carnival will.

So would appreciate the help if you could find documentation.

I'm getting too old to be correct anymore....seems to miss a lot.

If not, I'll write to them......

Thank You for your help and post as this is good information to know, just want to be cautious.
