so true.  Pre-pandemic, Dr. E had the best muster drill routine.  Our grands loved it, as did I.  For our Panama Canal crossing on the Miracle, Chloe was the CD and she was a joy to talk with. Love her energy.   Also memorable is Mike Bing Bong Walker.   So while a CD can’t break a cruise for me, they can enhance it.

I remember this name.....Mike Bing Bong Walker

I was having a nice time by myself on Mardi Gras and after a day of boarding and enjoying the ship, I got cut off from their small sized drinks at the piano bar.  If you ask to buy a drink, they so you can’t.  I’m not some crazy person.  I’m just enjoying being back in the ocean! 🙂 Guest relations said if I didn’t buy the package you could have another drink.  Not a matter of intoxication.  You just shouldn’t have bought the drink package. If I didn’t buy the drink package, I could buy more drinks. Makes sense.  🤪🤷‍♂️👀🙃

Now that the kiddos should all be back for the new school year, I'm thinking that the cruise lines should just simplify their cruising policies for us all:  100% Everything cruise...

With the scientific data showing that death rates for fully vaccinated people are almost Zero, cruise lines should just state for ALL cruises until the end of the year are only allowed for:

    1.  100% fully vaccinated cruisers

    2.  100% fully vaccinated crew members

    3.  All guests must sign a death/holdharmless waiver, thus no legal action against cruise line for any reason

    4.  No masks required anywhere onboard ship

    5.  No masks required at any destination ports.  If local ports balks, I'm fine with just cruising between Texas & Florida, and cruise lines' privately owned islands (ex:  half moon cay...)

So by simplifying these policies to allow fully vaccinated cruisers to CHOOSE to freely cruise & accepts the minimal risks to travel with other fully vaccinated guests, who also make the CHOICE to go cruising.  For those who don't like these policies, can CHOOSE the many other cruise lines.

Please, please, please do not reply with political, pro & anti vaccine arguments on this post.

I'm just offering a simple suggestion...

    Thoughts...?

I believe in Carnival current policies and feel they need to stay in that direction until Nov.  Then they can reset the bar if needed.  I sailed in July and will in Oct and glad they instituted the pre-test for all VAX.  Plus certain times a mask must be considered (indoors).

Look at the daily hit in Florida for new cases - over 20K for the past week plus.

Things will improve, in time and then I would agree to move on.

Or if they would go 100% VAX for 100% sure, tehn hmmmm, so you have a point, not being negative to your thoughts - I kind of like it, we just aren't there yet imo.

I don't care about the cruise director.  But that is the great thing about cruising.  Enough options for everyone to find things they enjoy about the experience and also things they don't really care about.

To each to their own....my side differs and they do make a difference in the brilliance of the whole cruise package....I've sailed many a years and make the cruise what it is.....I won't come saying we never had a bad cruise.....I'm sailing on this ship again and stuck with him, and will just for go most things he is involved with....

  5. Best advice is to leave the young ones home....heard parents say there kids were bored and couldn't get off the ship unless on a bibble tour in any of the ports we visited.....

Twenty-seven people sailing on Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Vista ship have tested positive for COVID-19. Of those who tested positive, 26 are crew members and one person is a passenger, according to a news release from the Belize Tourism Board Wednesday.

Carnival spokesperson AnneMarie Matthews confirmed the positive cases and additional info in the tourism board's statement to USA TODAY.

Matthews said positive COVID cases were first announced last Wednesday during the previous cruise that disembarked last Saturday in Galveston, Texas. It's unclear how many people were positive at that time.

"We are managing a small number of COVID cases on board Vista," Matthews said. "Guests on board both the previous and current sailing were informed and, specifically on the current sailing, the Captain has made at least two announcements related to this."

Really - we haven't heard about this - get a life as its been posted way too much.....

  8. Well for those that cruised since the 1980's - yes showing my age....our Festivale CD was great and cruised him at least 3 times when we started as there wasn't much in those days....but what would you know.....

We have adapted and accpeted the old and the new CD's through the years with many cruise lines.

Especially the newer CD's.  Why do you all follow John Hearl then if that doesn't make a difference?  Seems hypocritical imo.

Emma Watson was one of out favorites and happy for her baby and staying t home....she was there for you, not her....

Yes they add a differentiator to add the value added....

Therefore WHY the constant change who's up next.... because it makes a difference...look in the mirror....

    Later gator

  9. Crown was not available at the Horizon Piano Bar....AJuly 24th sailing....tried several nights for shots to give to the piano player....

OMG - Hound Dog taken down by a young lady too.....he was so loud and obnoxious....good for her calling him out!!!

You know who you are HOUND DOG

Sorry if these have already been covered.

Me and my wife are scheduled to sail on the Vista on 8/21. While we are super excited, we are also a little worried if a huge covid breakout were to happen. Does anyone think there is any chance of ship not being allowed to dock for several days like when covid first started? I'm thinking w/ all who are vaccinated now that may not be as risky to happen.

I know the Delta variant seems  maybe spread more so than earlier covid, but there's going to be covid cases pop up all around us no matter if on a cruise, at work, at the store, etc. Maybe just wishful thinking but I really don't think the positive tests will go up substantially on ships due to number of vaccinated.

Also, does anyone know for sure if you were to test positive on the ship but drove to port, would you still have to quarantine before being allowed to leave for home. What are y'alls thoughts?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I'd suggest everyone have travel insurance that covers Covid as well....in these times a few extra bucks as an ounce of prevention is sure worth the cure.....roll with the punches you can't pre plan the plan that is ev er changing.....we drive to the port - did July 24th on the Horizon and doing the same again on the 30th of Oct......ages 65 and 62.....common sense goes a long way.....
