  1. Funny thing is, when we dropped the luggage of at FLL. the porter said that he didn't know if he could check our luggage all the way to Alaska. But he did. There were 3 legs, each on a different airline, but apparently, they knew we were going on a cruise, and got special handling. I was surprised that our luggage also made it. Thing were different in those days.
  2. Like many, my most memorable was our first. The Crown Monarch, out of port of Palm Beach. I think the year may have been 1991, but I'm not sure. The bug bit on that cruise, 7 days western Caribbean. The second also quite memorable. The night before, we drove to Fort Lauderdale. Next morning we flew from FLL to Anchorage, where we boarded a bus to Seward, of a 7 day southbound to Vancouver, on Princess. the year was 1999. Never again will we fly to the cruise on embarkment day. Early on, we learned something each time we cruised.
  3. We go over to the other Fl coast to watch the gran kids while DD and SIL go away. He "cut the cable" a while back, and DW cannot find the channels she likes. That would never fly in our house. She likes our cable, turn the TV on, click the guide, sees all of the channels to see what is on. Happy wife, happy life. we do have access to a lot of streaming services through our cable box, a lot free, like Amazon prime , Peacock, and I do subscribe to YouTube, and our son has a Netflix channel we can watch, but rarely do. She pays no attention to those. I have things I watch , which I record since a lot are after bed time, and watch them when I want.
  4. I am sitting here on my computer, DW in the other room watching TV, she changes channel, and every other sound is a beep. guess she is watching BD reruns. More beeps per second than any other program. I wonder if anyone completes a sentence with out at least one beep.
  5. Geez. Local new media reports NCL dropped their pre cruise covid test as the headline. Then the article goes on to say it doesn't apply to the US, Canada, and a couple of other places. I wonder how any people read the headline, and not bother with the rest.
  6. I thought that they went up to the antennas and connected directly, not through the ship wifi. I saw that too.
  7. THe last sentence talked about wifi connectivity, which has nothing to do with Starlink. Starlink will only affect internet performance . Running a speedtest will show what connection is being used for the intermet.
  8. And how did you know it was Starlink being used?
  9. WE don't know what happened to the individuals in the recent incidents, , but what OP talked about has been the policy for the over 20 years of my recent cruising.
  10. sounds like it might be good news, we'll have to see how it works with thousands of connections.
  11. You know its old when you see Bob responding
  12. If you ban smoking in the casino, smokers will choose a cruise line that does. RCG gives you the option of cruising Celebrity, so chasing the smokers away from RCI too will have a negative impact on the CEO's future.
  13. When you book your cabana, the concierge will ask for a list of all people in their party, regardless of C&A status or stateroom, and the Barefoot Beach concierge will have that list, and they will have access.
  14. Suites have first dibs on renting the cabanas. They can invite anyone they want to join them And any cabana not being taken by the suites are available. RCI will not pass up the chance to make money, and an empty cabana makes no money. It does help to have access to a concierge to make the arrangement, so being Diamond helps.
  15. Our Connecticut house, the gutter started falling down, so I got new gutters with leaf guards. Problem solved.
  16. but then it would change, and everybody will be on the wrong page.
  17. Don't most ships have a spiral staircase from the promenade to the casino.
