  1. Sometimes, size does matter. I don't ever get shoved aside...and my wife clings closely to my side when in crowds. I take no credit, good genes from my parents!...and lots of Cream of Wheat growing up!
  2. Yeah, it'd be nice to see the Steelers win their seventh! Go Steelers!
  3. Just curious. On the last few cruises we took, we ate our evening meal in the Solarium Bistro, but never had a reservation. As recently as this past February on Wonder we didn't reserve there. Is this something new, or have we just been that lucky? Thanks for the review and the great pictures. We've been eying the ABC itinerary, but haven't found exactly what we want...so the search continues.
  4. 30,000 steps/day is quite a goal! The walking track is one of the most attractive features for my wife and me on the Oasis class ships. I wish you success in meeting and surpassing your goal! Walk a few laps for me! God bless!
  5. Well that certainly makes my mind up; this is utterly ridiculous. Gratuities certainly are getting way out of hand and not just on cruise ships... Thanks.
  6. So educate me, what about a Thermal Suite pass would require a 20% gratuity (aka service fee)? Do they do anything to or for you? Isn't it just a steam sauna that you sit in? What am I missing? Thanks.
  7. Hi All, We're booked on Quantum of the Seas for an Alaskan cruise next July. Our last port before returning to Seattle is Victoria BC. We've booked the Butchart Garden tour through the cruise line. We are scheduled to dock at 5:00 PM with the tour starting at 5:45 PM; the information provided states 1 hour 45 minutes to tour the gardens. If the tour bus leaves at 5:45 PM as scheduled, when would we return to the dock? I'm asking because we wonder if we'd have a little time to traipse about Victoria a bit before having to board by 9:45 PM (ship leaves at 10:00 PM). Thanks much!
  8. Is this a specialty venue or is it included in the cruise fare?
  9. The wife has been reading some things that suggest hotel rooms and such in Alaska are really not dark enough to sleep if one is somewhat sensitive to light, so they suggest taking some eye coverings. I'm curious to know if the cruise ship (Quantum of the Seas in this case) are really that light during normal sleeping hours, say 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM. I never really had an issue on the Caribbean cruises we've taken, but then again I've never sailed in the land of the midnight sun. Thanks.
  10. The worst meal I ate associated with a cruise was the dinner I cooked the night before we left the house.
  11. Anyone drive from Seattle to Mount St. Helens? We'll be in Seattle a few days before our Alaska cruise departs next July and were thinking about driving down there one day. I understand the road to the observatory is closed due to a landslide that damaged it severely. Any word on if they expect it to be re-opened by June, 2024?
  12. How far is it from town to the cruise ship dock? Is it walkable for someone who routinely walks 4-5 miles a few times a week?
  13. Would Quantum of the Seas fall into the big ship class?
  14. The cost of a couple's massage went UP by $40 for our Alaska cruise for 2024.
  15. I checked RCI this morning and our sailing does appear with available cabins; it wasn't there yesterday for some reason...maybe a website issue. We do have traditional, so it's good to know we can make those arrangements. Thanks.
  16. Our group four Alaska 2024 may grow by one more couple who would have to book outside of Royal Caribbean (RCI doesn't list that sailing on their website any longer - I presume due to no vacancies). Cruise.com does have cabins available so these folks may book through them. My question is, can I have RCI link their booking, made though Cruise.com, with the rest of our travel party's bookings made directly with RCI so that we can all be seated together in the MDR? Thanks.
  17. I booked ours on August 17, 2023 for our July 2024 Alaska cruise. I checked back in a month to see if fares had changed and they went up about 50%!...
  18. I'm wondering if our group of ten travelers with linked bookings will be seated at a table of our own for evening meals in the Master Dining Room, or if we'll be seated at a larger table with others? One of the hidden jewels of cruising can be meeting and getting to know other people at dinner; the wife and I have enjoyed this on a couple of cruises of our own. With a group of ten, what are the chances that we'll be able to share a table with strangers? Thanks.
  19. How long of a walk was this mileage-wise?
  20. Thanks for your response. We do live about 5 hours from Atlanta. I will check with the hotel we've reserved to see if they offer long term parking and a shuttle, that would be ideal! The ATL website wasn't very helpful to me, but perhaps I'm just not looking in the right places. I'll shop around for other parking options. Again, thanks!
