I beg to differ; in the fact that it varies ship to ship, that ship might different Covid protocols due to the number of cases on board or how the master of the ship is conducting protocols at the time.

I meant that they are sending you that amount, that they show as a charge, referred to corporate finance, to zero out the books . That is how they do the ledger entry to make it credit back to you.
Let me make it simpler: the package works out VERY well for my husband and myself. It also works for Princess due to the pour cost of liquor. Win /win. For some, it doesn't. I understand your post very well. So do others.
Maybe not for you; for a lot of people it is a win for both Princess to make money and for the passengers to come out ahead, no clouding, unless, like your signature says, you remove tips...then, yes, it becomes downright muddy ...😠
