  1. Which is the sensible decision. P&O only ask for the medical questionnaire to be completed as a "box ticking" exercise for their own due diligence purposes. As long as everbody ticks all the "no" boxes, they are happy, and couldn't care less if people lie.
  2. Well, I drink like normal when on holiday, seven or eight alcoholic drinks a day as a minimum, and I am saving a fortune by buying the PP package!
  3. Too late ! You are automatically banned from boarding.
  4. Problem is, we have to tidy up the cabin, before the steward can come in to tidy up !
  5. I suppose you could ask your steward for ice and an ice bucket in the morning, to keep your bottle cold until the evening.
  6. You can still order a bottle of wine, you just give your order to your waiter. Why ?
  7. Yes you do. Or just carry the bottle to which ever bar you want and ask for an empty glass when you arrive.
  8. I can understand that point of view. But on a 7 day cruise, as the formal nights are not on the first and last nights, it does mean that the two formal nights are squashed together, and subsequently loose their "exclusivity". How about one per seven day cruise, and three per fourteen day cruise ? I know that will cause issues with those cruises sold as either 7 or 14 days [from Malta, Barbados, Tenerife], but it might be a workable compromise.
  9. Exactly - I stopped working to escape the rat race, have the freedom to do what I liked when I liked, and to enjoy my life whilst I was still relatively fit and young[ish]. Financially I would have been considerably better off if I had carried on working, but, as they say "shrouds have no pockets". Why should I give all that up for a meagre salary, half of which will be taken in taxation anyway ?
  10. I normally ignore the pop-up banner ads on this site. A distraction, but I understand CC needs to make money. But is anyone else getting the banner ad regarding making Nottingham a "Breast Feeding Friendly City" ? I've nothing against the campaign, apart from the fact that it seems a waste of the the council tax paid by the good folk of Nottingham. But perhaps more importantly, which bright spark decided that us forum members, who, let's be blunt, are mainly not in the first flush of youth, would be the ideal target market for such a campaign ?
  11. That can't happen, because testing is not done prior to departure. And, if a coach passenger tests positive later in the cruise, P&O would have no way of knowing who was sitting adjacent to them on the coach.
  12. Although T1 is currently closed, so only four operational terminals. Sorry, pedantic I know! 😁
  13. Be careful - certain words lead to automatic suspension.
  14. Unless you actually ask to have a test, how would the staff know ? Rightly or wrongly, the current P&O policy encourages people to keep quiet if they suspect they may have Covid.
  15. Basically a singlet, normally worn by man with a half smoked cigarette and a tin of Special Brew !
  16. He may be young, but that is about all ! In fact, some of the points he makes, do make some sense, but not in the way that he articulates them. The Moet Chandon example for instance. Given that I can buy Moet in my local supermarket, his argument is already lost !
  17. Post on the UK ports of call forum as well. The 11:00 from LHR is a no no, and the 09:15 flight from SOU is far too tight for my liking. Anything after 13 :00 from LHR will be fine.
  18. Which we love, but can be a challenge for those who cannot get their leg over !
  19. I think that there should still be one evening per week when people put in a little extra effort. How much effort is then down to the individual.
  20. No, I didn't delete it, is still there !
  21. I've only been posting here for seven years or so, but the feeling about formal nights does seem to be changing. Fortunately, the discussions are not as vitriolic as on some of the US forums ! For what it's worth, I like the fact that P&O try and keep a smart casual ambience on non formal nights. No shorts, wife beater vests, baseball caps etc. However, I do think a move away from formal nights to a 'dress to impress' format is overdue. Black tie for those who wish to do so, or just something a bit more blingy for the rest. And once a week is enough.
  22. Unfortunately, the moment you pressed the "yes" button you were doomed. The decision is final and cannot be appealed. Your honesty is to be applauded, but you should, basically, have lied. If you had joined the forum only a couple of weeks ago, you would have seen that the same thing happened to another cruiser, with the same result. I hope you manage to get satisfaction from your insurance company, but fear that you might be in for a lengthy battle.
