  1. Hi Tawlaw, we'll be on the same cruise and I just learned you can request a hand held shower wand on your medallion app under My Preferences then Accessibilty. I requested one, will see what happens. I guess you can always ask your room steward. See you on board!
  2. Just watched a video from Let's Go Travel Tips and a viewer told her that for their upcoming cruise (2/20/23) on the Discovery for which they booked Princess Plus, the special desserts and juice bar would not be available and that they would get a $10 credit per day instead. Don't know if this is for all ships or just that one.
  3. I think anyone can change it. We just touched it lightly and it lit up. Touched it again and it went off.
  4. Just did this excursion last month and loved it. It was the Marival Resort. They have 3 pools (adult, family and fun and games). They will set up lounge chairs and umbrellas on the beach if that is what you prefer. They will come around and take drink orders (open bar) and the lunch buffet was huge and very good. Would do it again.
  5. Just returned from a Princess cruise thru the Panama Canal. Ice water (plain, orange and cucumber) and cold wash cloths at each port, including the tender one. They also had a tent set up with some seating. Very much appreciated in the hot and humid climates.
  6. When we went out of San Pedro in Dec we needed to show either our passport or medallion to even enter the building. Port security was checking for one or the other before allowing you in.
  7. Just got off of the Emerald and no soft serve there either, they hand scooped but I don't know if it was gelato or someother type, it was just ok.
  8. If they are updating to add shelves that's great. I kept some toiletries on the area next to the sink by the fridge.
  9. We just got off of the Emerald and were in aft facing suite D737. Really liked it except that there were NO shelves at all in the bathroom. I lke sitting on the balcony and listening to the wake noise. You can feel the vibrations when the ship is docking but otherwise just the usual rocking of the ocean.
  10. You might want to look into Seahorse.com for a tour of their facility. We did it about 12 years ago and it looks like they have expanded since then. It was very interesting and we had a seahorse wrap it's tail around our fingers. One of the best tours we've done.
  11. The last 6 aft mini suites on each side of Emerald deck are fully covered. (see the deck plans). They are partially over Club Fusion but we have never heard any noise coming up from there. I love the fully covered balcony.
  12. Just got off the Emerald after 30 day B2B Panama Canal. Had a chocolate donut almost every morning with my tea at the IC, ususally around 7AM.
  13. We rent an oxygen concentrator for my husband and use Special Need at Sea. Very reliable and reason able. I would call them and ask if they service the Charleston port.
  14. Following - we'll be boarding her on Sunday.
  15. Thank you so much, that makes me feel much better. Happy Cruising!
  16. Hi, We'll be flying into LAX for the first time and will be using their wheelchair assistance. When we get off the plane I know they will take you to the baggage claim area. Is that as far as they will go? We will be arranging for limo or black uber service and I know we need to go outside and across a street to a waiting area. I was told that there is no seating there for while you wait for pickup. I don't know if my DH will be able to stand that long. Any advice? Thanks.
  17. When you pull up to give your baggage to the porter, find the people with the wheelchairs. They will come right over to assist your DH and escort you both thru security and check in. They will then turn you over to a Princess employee who will take you up the gangway and wherever on the ship you want to wait until the rooms are ready. We use this for my DH as he has problems standing and walking up ramps. There is a separate line for security and checkin for those in a wheelchair. pr
  18. Thanks, ok for us, I watched a travel agent YouTube video. She got an annoucment from Princess. They are not grandfathering anyone in as far as the new add ons go, not getting the fancy desserts, exercise classes etc. You will have to upgrade to the new price if you want those.
  19. Jinpasco - are you on the 12/18 Panama Canal. If so, see you on board!
  20. I pack several pods in a plastic travel soap dish, no mess if one breaks. Also several dryer sheets in a small zip lock bag.
  21. Hopefully this will spread to other ships as well.. We splurged on an aft facing full suite for our January '23 Panama Canal cruise on thee Emerald and I am really concerned that we will not be able to use our balcony because of the cigarette stench. It will also open up the promenade deck for full walk around.
  22. We last cruised from SF in July and also several times before covid. When we got out of the taxi there were several people with wheelchairs waiting to assist. They took my husband into the terminal and thru securtity and check in. There was a separate line for handicapped in security and also one for check in. They then escorted us to a waiting area to hand us over to a Princess employee who wheeled my husband up the gangway and onto the ship and to wherever on the ship you wanted to go. It was greatly appreciated as my husband can't stand for any length of time and the incline on the gangway is too much. We usually get to the port around 11AM. Hopefully it will all work out for you.
  23. Guess we'll be going back to the basic fare. The new additions don't interest us.
  24. I don't think so, I booked directly with them and their boats were small and would take 6 at most. We did see a much larger boat that Princess used and there were probably a dozen people in the water at one time with more waiting to go in. Our captain was very careful around the whale sharks, as was our guide.
  25. I did this several years ago (pre-covid) thru LA Paz VIP tours. It was probably the best excursion I have ever done. Small boat, there were only 3 of us. Our guide, Anna, was great. We snorkeled with a whale shark and then with sea lions. Check out their website lapasviptours.com. I would definitly do it again.
