  1. My hubby uses an Inogen portable concentrator and has no problems. We also rent a room concentrator from Special Needs Group for use in the room to give the Inogen a break. Be sure to bring extra canulas etc. The rental will come with one and a longer hose (I believe 25 feet) for getting around the cabin. They deliver directly to the room and will pick it up at the end of the cruise. The last cruise was 28 days and the rental fee was $383. Well worth it for us. I hope everything works out well for you.
  2. Princess has wheelchair assistance to take you from the terminal to wherever you want to go on the ship while waiting for rooms to be ready and also reverse when disembarking at the end of your cruise. Just ask when you get to the terminal. There should be wheelchair assist to take you through security and check in and then they will hand you over to a Princess employee to take you onto the ship. My husband uses this because the gangway ramp is too much for him. He's ok once he's on, just needs to take it slow and stop to rest every once in a while.
  3. We had it on a sea day last month on the Crown in the MDR. Only found out about it when someone mentioned it; did not see it advertised.
  4. We just did the 28 day South Pacific on the Crown, getting back on April 14th. We thought the ship was fine, The Caribe Cafe area was always open for seating and certainly not flooded. We had a great time and the crew is absolutely the best.
  5. We've stayed at the Doubletree twice in the past 6 months. My hubby has some mobility issues and has a little difficulty getting into their shuttle so we asked the front desk to book us a taxi for the morning of the cruise, which they did. Cab was there on time and it's just a short ride to the terminal. If you're there a day early, their shuttle will take you to shopping or restaurants if you want. A good restaurant is the 22nd St Landing which is walkable if you are able. (a little pricey but good). There is also a restaurant in the hotel for breakfast and dinner.
  6. @Yehootu Hi - me again - those are our favorite as well although for the South Pacific we splurged on a full suite. (50th anniversary). We were in E733 so probably pretty close to you.
  7. Hi @Yehootu we were on the cruise as well. I guess you missed the desserts that were out at lunch one day towards the end of the cruise. They were in the Carib Cafe and, WOW!, there was such an array of cakes, pies and all sorts of other goodies. The only way I found about it was I saw a guy with a plate piled high with all sort of good looking things and I asked. A crew member in the main area didn't know anything about it but another passenger let me know. I didn't need dinner that night.
  8. We used Lansky car service to go from LAX to Doubletree in San Pedro. It was expensive ($175 which include tip) but worth it to us. My hubby has mobility issues so going to another lot for taxi, uber etc was not feasible. We used airport wheelchair assistance which took him from plane to baggage to waiting at curb for the car. I know you can order Uber or Lyft large vehicles that can pick you up curbside but for us the car service was easier. May try Uber or Lyft next time.
  9. I always bring my Kindle, I put it in a zip lock bag when not reading to keep sand and water out. There are usually other people from your cruise on the beach and I try to stay close to them; it seems everyone looks out for each other. Easy to do on Princess because they let you take their towels off the ship and they are all blue and white stripes.
  10. We just returned from a cruise out of LA. My husband has some mobility problems and the easiest for us was Lansky Limo. It was more expensive than the other options but very convenient. We would not have been able to fuss with getting a shuttle to another lot for a cab or regular uber or lyft. Car services like Lansky and Uber Black can pick up curbside right outside of baggage claim.
  11. We prefer the aft facing suites as we like the sound of the wake.
  12. We're on that cruise as well and also requested the hand held shower head, we'll see soon.
  13. Hi Reno Dave - Welcome to Cruise Critic - I'm Mary from Spanish Springs. Hope you enjoy your cruise, lucky you missed the snow we've been having the last few days.
  14. Also looking to following along. We will be boarding the Crown when you return. Aloha!
  15. No, excursions are not a "must". You can walk around the ports yourself, take public transportation to some places, always places to eat and drink. Google each port for info and try Youtube for videos. There will be lots of other passengers doing things on their own. I hope you have a great time.
  16. Hi Apsara4 - I see you are rather new to Cruise Critic. Have you joined our roll call? It's pretty active. See you on board!
  17. I'll be interested in any info as well. Our cruise will be stopping there for 2 days in April and none of the ships excursions sound very good.
  18. I tried one of the ice cream sandwiches from Scoops on the Emerald last month. It was good but melted a little too fast. There was a charge of $3.54, not covered under the Princess Plus Package.
  19. YEA! - I'm so glad this is working out for you. Enjoy your cruise and the warm weather.
  20. So sorry to hear that, in good weather you could drive but so iffy now. They did however lift some restrictions in Mono county, but still would need chains in some areas. But who know what conditions would be in So. California in the mountainous areas. We're in Spanish Springs and only had about 1/2 inch.
  21. Hi Phoebe2m - We'll be on the Crown in a few weeks, was the pub lunch listed on the daily patter or just on the posted menus? Thanks.
  22. We are the same way, won't book an exposed balcony. We do love the fully covered ones on aft deck 8 on the ship we sail.
  23. Following - as we will be boarding her on 3/17/23.
  24. we'll be doing this is a few weeks (3/17/23) and it may turn out to be our favorite. But for now it is an Alaskan cruise tour we did on Holland America about 10 years ago. It was my husband's retirement present. Flew into Fairbanks a few days early and rented a car and went exploring. Met up with the group, train to Denali for 2 nights, train to Anchorage for 1 night and train to Seward to board the ship. I'll never forget the amazing scenery; just beautiful.
  25. We just did B2B from LA on the Emerald in Dec/Jan and had a great time but it was hot and humid. I was told that there were 2 sloths in the small park like area that you have to go thru in Caragena; I walked around there for an hour looking up into the trees but never did see them, lots of beautiful birds though. Hope you have a great cruise.
