^^ The ones that sleep 5 will look like this...possibly mirrored left to right.

^^ That's a forward-facing Family Oceanview. It only sleeps 4. It's one of the **700 staterooms on Joy.

As you walk in, the bathroom will either be on the left or the right. As you continue to walk, there will be a bed which can either be combined into one bed or split into two beds. Next will be a curtain that separates the bed from the living room. A sofa bed that can sleep one or be extended for 2 will be near the window. Above the sofa bed will be a pull man bed in the ceiling. Both sleeping areas have a TV.

Specialty Dining Package Gratuities Question
Two Wheels Only replied to spumonisowner's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Was there any alcohol involved? 🥴 -
If you log into MSC with your MSC account and click on MSC Voyagers Club, you'll see "My Past Cruises point details" with the points for each cruise. It might not exactly add up to your total but it will give you an idea of how many points that you received for each cruise.

Even on land, one Starbucks might not have items that another Starbucks has. It happens.

Were the children wearing diapers or potty trained? That could have been the problem because diapers/untrained babies aren't allowed in the pool and even though you were using your own "pool", that potentially fecal-contaminated water could have ended up in the actual pool. Where was the bucket being dumped?

As a Yacht Club guest, you will get the internet. The cabana that you had previously booked is less expensive than the Yacht Club cabana so it seems that they refunded the original one and it is up to you if you want a Yacht Club one. The specialty dining should have stayed as it was. I've also purchased a dining package even though I was a Yacht Club guest so it's perfectly fine to have both. Perhaps they feel that you will no longer want the package and refunded it.

Onboard spending points don't go to both people.

Joy - Aft Balcony bed location question
Two Wheels Only replied to GadgetGod's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
It's probably bed near closet but I don't have a visual confirmation. The 2 surrounding staterooms are bed near balcony. -
It had to be said. 😁

MSC’s Frustrating “New” Cancellation Policy
Two Wheels Only replied to amygutman's topic in MSC Cruises
My guess is that if the cruise can be changed to an earlier date, the price would be lower since there are often price drops as the cruise line tries to fill the remaining staterooms. -
NCL's false advertising (-40/50%)
Two Wheels Only replied to MiniJeffrey's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
WE (savvy cruisers, CC members, etc.) know that the $1,000 cruise isn't really a $2,000 cruise marked down to $1,000 with the sale but the noob cruiser thinks "...wow, I'd better book now so I can save a thousand dollars....". It's all to make the customer feel like they got a great deal. Those BOGO deals seem better when the item is overpriced. If Walmart has an item for $2 but Publix has it for $3.80 and it's BOGO, the person who shops at Publix sees the "You saved $3.80..." on the receipt and feels better. The reality is that the Publix shopper saved 20 cents buying more than they probably wanted/needed. If the "feeling of a great deal" makes the shopper continue to go to Publix, the store will easily make back that 20 cents on some other overpriced items. NCL wants to lure people in the same way. -
Sofa beds can differ depending on class and category and even by ship within the class. Here's the Breakaway 2nd bedroom with the sofa bed extended for 2 and the pull man bed above it. Since the pull man won't be needed in your case, it will be in the ceiling and out of sight. With the sofa bed extended, there is limited space to walk and the door to the bathroom cannot fully open. We don't know if the size or the mobility of the mother-in-law is a factor. The sofa bed can also be used at the standard width to give more walking room and more room to open the bathroom door.

Ship?

NCL's false advertising (-40/50%)
Two Wheels Only replied to MiniJeffrey's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Publix and Winn-Dixie already do that. -
The OP mentioned it... It wouldn't really matter to me all that much but some people are bothered by it.

If you want to look straight down to the water, it can be done. The downside is that others will be able to look down and see you. The M6 staterooms on deck 8 have the best view straight down to the water but those extended balconies are about 2/3 exposed and can be seen from above. If you're close to your balcony door, you can't be seen from above. If you select a higher balcony such as deck 15 and are at one of the "bump out" sections, you'll get a decent view down because of the angle and won't be seen from above. The downside is that you'll be far away from the water and will have to deal with noise from above. Which is more important as far as looking down to water or not being seen from above?

MSC’s Frustrating “New” Cancellation Policy
Two Wheels Only replied to amygutman's topic in MSC Cruises
Yeah but since I usually book 1-2 years in advance, I don't want to let NCL hold over a thousand dollars of mine for that long. -
MSC’s Frustrating “New” Cancellation Policy
Two Wheels Only replied to amygutman's topic in MSC Cruises
I'd rather have MSC's Yacht Club deposit stipulations instead of NCL's Haven down payment amounts. For my family of 4, Haven deposits are 10% for each person which is more than double the amount needed for a Yacht Club deposit. NCL's Haven deposit used to be $2,000 for a family of 4 ($750x2 + $250x2) for most Haven suites. The 3BR Garden Villa had an even higher deposit amount. On 2 occasions, I booked a Royal Suite on MSC for only $99pp for guests 1&2. Even with $199pp for guests 1&2, it's still much better than NCL. -
Joy - Aft Balcony bed location question
Two Wheels Only replied to GadgetGod's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
If asking about bed location, the pattern from port to starboard is the same. Balcony size/depth is very different -

Deck 12 Joy aft-facing B1s.... 12358 - bed near balcony 12360 - bed near balcony 12362 - bed near closet (narrowest balcony) 12962 (Wheelchair accessible) - bed near balcony 12960 - bed near closet 12958 - bed near balcony -
I asked for clarification (post #5) and the OP stated that they selected the stateroom (post #7) so we are guessing that the others were already booked and (maybe?) NCL opened it up to anyone. I agree. There are some missing details so we're giving different possible scenarios as to what might have happened. We won't fully know if the OP doesn't come back. I hope that the OP doesn't feel as if we were on attack mode if the OP did nothing wrong.
