We don't have a favorite, but if it is worth it or not is a personal decision. We like the Steakhouse once a cruise if the ship has one.

Carnival website does not list any more sailings for the Triumph. First sailing renamed/refurbished as Sunrise I saw was November 2019.
-
I'm glad we bought the insurance. Had a medical emergency 4 days before cruise date and had to cancel.
We got all our $ back.

yep, what Crooked said. The water view goes all the way to the horizon.

I would dress as a tacky American tourist.

....... I assume it’s no more dangerous that Belize and Roatan?
You're going to "assume" something that may endanger your life, or your families? Do your research. Don't rely on opinion boards like this one, nor on news outlets. Murders are getting closer and closer to the tourist zone in Cancun. When will it get IN the tourist zone? Who knows. Situational awareness is your best friend.

Going on the dream at the end of March and looking to catch a 10:55am flight home in Sunday after the cruise. Don’t have FTTF or platinum. What time were you off the ship? Is this doable? Thanks!
March could have lots of fog on the river, taking longer to get to NOLA from the Gulf, which is normally 6-8 hours.

We had aft balcony on deck 8, Sunshine September of 2015. No breeze, no shade. No joy. I'll never do aft balcony again. It didn't help that we didn't do our research before booking, and the deck directly above had loud thumping salsa music until 2-3am every night. We're more early risers, not so much on late nighters.
-
Remember, check-in time is NOT the same as boarding time. We cruised out of NOLA a few years back, with check-in of noon. Arrived at terminal at 12:20, went right in, then waited about 15 minutes before getting called to the slooooow moving serpentine line to board the ship.
-
Last I inquired, the time allotted is CHECK-IN TO THE TERMINAL time, NOT EMBARKATION. You may sit inside the terminal for a while after check-in, prior to embarkation.

We had 3 ports cancelled a few years back due to hurricane in the area. We went to 3 much better ports, IMHO. Hope for the best, expect the worse, take what you get.

If I had known having grandkids was so awesome, I would have had them first!

March can be VERY foggy on the Gulf and the river. Could be a delaying factor of when the ship arrives at the port. good luck.
-
No surprise, as winds were gusting to hurricane strength....74mph+

Depends on what time the ship actually docks, gets thru customs, and all the previous passengers get off the ship. Some days can be faster, some slower. There is no set time.
-
It looks like you have plenty of time to discover what excursions are out there for your ports and see if you can find things that would be che;).....
Thanks captain obvious. I was looking for 90 days, 180 days, etc., whatever the number may be.

How far in advance does NCL post their excursions? We are booked for Norwegian Joy late September 2019. First cruise with NCL, several with another cruise line.

We will be getting off our cruise on the Norwegian Breakaway on February 17. The cost to fly back to Boston that day is crazy expensive. Any thoughts on if Mardi Gras is the reason for this? The flight down is only 185 p/p plus tax but the flight back is $522 p/p plus tax.
Feb. 17 is a Sunday. Almost all flights are more expensive on Sundays, but Mardi Gras may factor into it. Price the flights on Monday or Tuesday, plus hotel for staying a night or 2 post-cruise. Which is less expensive?

Travel Insurance. We booked a southern Caribbean cruise, then the islands were hit by hurricanes. We changed to Panama Canal cruise after paying $50 each change fee. 4 days before Canal cruise, we were hit by medical emergency, and had to cancel. 4 days!! Carnival returned some $$, and travel insurance will return balance except for the $218 (less than 10% of the total) we paid for the insurance.

Depends on where you sit also. Not much breeze down around the pool, but much breezier on upper decks where you can still see the screen.

KHOU was the TV station. Their reporter did a awesome thing helping that elder lady.

As said, it's check-in to get into the terminal. If you show up prior to that selected time, you may be waiting outside in the sunshine, or the rain. We try to show up just AFTER our selected check-in time, then proceed right inside the terminal. Proceed thru Check-in, then wait inside until called to board the boat. Most cabins are ready about 1:30-ish. If you time it right, you can go directly to your cabin.

Best can only be determined after trying them all. Otherwise, it's just conjecture. Thats like asking what is the best rum, or tequila, or even the best beer. Everyone has different tastes.

Sounds like a question to ask carnival directly. I would ask carnival, then call again a different day to see if the responses are the same.
How choppy is the Eastern Caribbean in early November?

Hurricane season ends November 30, but then, Mother Nature doesn't go by a calendar. If there is a storm in the area, the captain will sail to other ports to keep passengers and his ship safe. A few years, we skipped 3 ports, and got 3 much better ports!
