  1. I like it how people ask what the forecast is on an internet message board, but cant google hurricane forecast for 2017....LOL. Im not bashing the poster, but most answers are rite at your finger tips, just start typing.

Same could be said for almost every question posted here, not just about weather. The answer can be found on the carnival web site faster than waiting for replies here

  2. We sailed out of NOLA last year, headed to Key West and Bahamas. There was a storm headed there so we got rerouted to Roatan, Costa Maya, and Cancun. Darn the bad luck!!! Captain kept us safe. On our previous cruise out of Port Canaveral, we had 50 knot winds according to the TV. Never felt any rocking, rolling, yawing, pitching, nor any other motion.

  3. Ugh! When it was all said and done, when I went to book FTTF, it was sold out after all. So just chose 11am boarding (earleist) and hope for the best.

It's possible for it to reopen. Quantity of FTTF's depends on quantity of priority diamond, platinum, wedding parties. Carnival can prepare only so many cabins "first". If the number of priority people don't fill up the allotted "first" group, then more FTTF's will be opened. Someone's cabin has to be last.

  4. Our last cruise was thru NOLA. No FTTF. Arrived about 20 minutes PAST our scheduled check-in time, and we were sent right into the air conditioned terminal to front of the line.

I guess I just understand why anyone would put themselves thru the stress of getting there early and having to wait outside in NOLA heat and humidity. As long as you board before the deadline, the ship isn't leaving without you.

  5. If you've left your auto gratuities on - the recipient of your cash "bonus" may KEEP that bonus tip for themselves.

If you've removed the auto gratuities - the recipient of any cash you tip them MUST turn that cash into the tip pool.

And, contrary to what some may say - an employee isn't going to risk getting fired for pocketing some little cash tip a passenger who opted out of paying the auto grats might slip them.

I'm curious as to how anyone else knows if or even who I give a cash tip too, besides the recipient?

We prepay the tips, but usually give our room stewards and our MDR staff individuals extra cash. Once, we even bought a toy for our room stewards small child back in his home country.

  6. What are the best cocktails to get on board the Carnival Sunshine?

    Eric

That's like asking who is your favorite cruise director, your favorite ship, or your favorite child.

That's why they make chocolate and vanilla. Everyone has different tastes.

  7. I have "beyond zero" interest in ever doing a cruise from Galveston (or anywhere else on the Gulf of Mexico). Same goes for NOLA (though I'd have no problem flying there for a food getaway....

Some of us, maybe even many of us, feel the same way about going to california for any reason, not just for a cruise.

  8. Ever been to Mobile in August? HOT and HUMID, and it's in top 8 cities of U.S. in annual rainfall. Be prepared. With that info, I would not arrive at the terminal until absolutely necessary just so I don't have to wait outside in the elements until my check-in time to go directly inside to the a/c.

  9. Right from Carnival web site, FTTF FAQ page:

Q: Is there some sort of control on how many people can purchase FTTF, i.e., if huge numbers of people purchase priority access, then how will you be able to accommodate everyone?

A: Yes - the program will be capacity controlled and closely monitored to ensure excellent service for FTTF guests and VIFP Diamond and Platinum members, as well as all guests vacationing with us.

  10. Park at Fulton Garage near the port. Cheaper than port parking. Free shuttle to and from port.

MY OPINION HERE :>. Don't arrive at the port until your check in time so you won't have to wait outside in the sun.

September is quite warm and humid in NOLA, unless it's raining. Then it's wet and warm. When you arrive right at, or just a few minutes after your check in time, you will be directed to go right upstairs to the air conditioned area and proceed to check in.
