  1. There were different things in the “bad bins”,,,, mostly food. The most unusual thing The Bird saw were sea shells. There were passengers being disembarked this morning. Not sure why.
  2. You want to be on a lifeboat before…. Rose: I’ll never let go, Jack. I’ll never let go. I promise. … and she cuts you lose.
  3. Today the Escape is calling in Cozumel. As yesterday, Mexican customs and border control were inspecting bags. Today, the inspectors and dogs seemed to be targeting food. Yesterday, in Costa Maya, they were confiscating various contraband items.
  4. If the Captain kindly asks you to disembark when you are far from land, follow your muster station instructions carefully. You want they reserved seat on a lifeboat. You don’t want to miss your boat and end up in a crew raft.
  5. Here’s The Bird’s live post from the Encore last month with all things Encore.
  6. For those of you who are “above the law” and ignore the admonishments in the Freestyle Daily and signs on the gangway, Mexican customs and boarder protection were doing inspections of all bags being brought ashore. They had several large bins of confiscated items.
  7. Here’s an Onda menu. Be advised that Onda is not on the Escape. It is on the Encore and Prima.
  8. In the port of Costa Maya, performers preform the Dance of the Flyers (Danza de Los Voladores). Remember, they risk their lives climbing up the 30 meter poll and flying, just tied to a rope, for tips.
  9. We’re sailing this week with just shy of 4700 passengers. The ship’s capacity is 4266. So we’re at about 110% capacity. But,,, just under 200 young cruisers this week (mostly infants and small children,,, not as many teens).
  10. The Aqua Park features The Aqua Racer slide (that takes you out over the edge of the ship), a family slide, and two free fall slides where the floor drops from under your feet. The Aqua Park also includes the kids splash area and family pool.
  11. The Spice H20 is the adult only sundeck. It is also used at night for theme parties. The water feature on the Escape, The Grotto, is the best water feature in the fleet. Unfortunately, it also has one of the two smoking areas on the ship.
  12. It is hard to understand how people can attribute rude, self center, inconsiderate drunks who push their way to the front of a line to the bartenders. The bartenders did not raise these spoiled brats. Just last night, a very drunk kid spouted off, when I cut him off from jumping the line, that he was 21 years old and asked how old I was. Back of the line kid, if you were my grandkid and acted that way, you would be off the ship flying home.
  13. We are currently on the Escape and Veuve has been remove from all bars. It is only available in Le Bistro by the glass and by the bottle. I spoke with the Food and Beverage manager who said that they can’t get enough to stock the bars. Vueve is becoming hard to source and what they can get (versus their old volume buys) is expensive. They are keeping it in Bistro, for now, since it is the signature drink there.
  14. It depends on the bar. They are not permitted to have glass on the pool deck. Which would include all bars on the pool deck and the buffet bar. In general, glass is cheaper, so they will serve in glass everywhere possible.
