  1. Think everyone should change their tagline to: "We love kids, just not when we're on our geriatric cruise..."
  2. We took this bus tour last Aug. It was Awesome! Highly recommend it. Bus driver was great. If you're concerned, Just don't look out the window. It actually snowed on top of the mountain peak in Aug...
  3. Spent a week onboard the USS Pintado (SSN-672) as a Midshipman, summer of 1985. Longest week of my life...!
  4. Once the SheerID is in my profile, when I search for future HAL cruises, it says: Military Appreciation Onboard Credit of US$100 per stateroom has been applied
  5. Carnival has my DD-214 on file since I've faxed it in many many years ago, & has always applied OBC to all of our previous Carnival, Princess, & HAL cruises. So just completed this new SheerID, so HAL has applied it successfully to our upcoming August cruise & hopefully P&O will too...
  6. Don't book the front side of the ship, since that's where the most damage is when it hits an iceberg....😁
  7. You have a 5:15pm international flight to get to your cruise & a 8pm flight back home after your cruise. Would you even consider showing up even a few minutes late, at 5:30pm & 8:30pm respectively, for your flights...?
  8. We have previously done both the Rhine & Danube rivers cruises separately on Gate 1, then we did the 2 week Viking Grand European cruise, which combined the Rhine, Main, & Danube together. All great cruises. We're now booked on Viking's Cities of Lights cruise for next year, which adds 2 nights each in Prague & Paris onto the 7 nights cruise on the Main river. My wife is now hesitating on this one since she says we're redoing the same cities of Nuremberg, Bamberg, Wurzberg, & Heidelberg Germany again. Maybe only Mainz, Cochem, Trier & Bernkastel Germany & Reims France that we haven't visited before on the Grand European before. I still like the trip for its' numerous river cruising experience, plus we got great pricing since we booked it on our last Viking ocean cruise, got great discounts, plus free (meaning included) international airfare. Since we plan to visit family in Amsterdam & London after the trip, figures it's a great value also. So for those who has done the Grand European & Cities of Lights already, are there much overlap of the Cities on the Main river...? Thoughts? Thanks,
  9. We called 4 weeks before our cruise last August. We took their offer to upgrade from interior to balcony for $250 per person, which was about half the price if we've booked balcony in the first place.
  10. I emailed HAL last week to double check & here's their reply: From: World Cruise Res <world_cruise_reservations@hollandamerica.com> Dear Mr. ____, The Military Appreciation Benefit of $100 USD onboard credit was added to your booking ____ on November 4, 2022. Thank you for sailing with Holland America Line. Best Regards, Jennifer Hudgins World Cruise Reservations Holland America Line Phone: 800-522-3399 Fax#: 206-270-6080 www.hollandamerica.com
  11. I paid a little over $700 for 100 shares a few months back. Already received $600 OBC applied on previous & upcoming HAL, Princess, Carnival cruises. So will break even on our next P&O booking...
  12. Make sure u sent it to the correct email address: World_Cruise_Reservations@hollandamerica.com
  13. Yes, we sent in request last Thurs, & we received email confirmation on Fri for our upcoming Aug 26, 2023 HAL cruise. Here's the email reply: "Thank you for contacting Holland America Line in regards to your Carnival Shareholder benefit. Holland America Line has applied the shipboard credit amount of $100.00 to your reservation _____, and it will be credited to your onboard account upon embarkation."
  14. We were on the Rotterdam a few months ago & Yes, we attended that presentation & was quite impressed with it...
  15. For Ocean cruises: Our earliest was 7:20 am, took 10 minutes to disembark in Ft Laud. Latest was 1 pm, 2 days later, because of fog in Galveston. For River: Earliest was as 2 am for early morning flight in Budapest. Latest was 1pm for later flight in Amsterdam, they allowed to stay onboard for lunch.
  16. Our group of 14 just came back from a 7 nights Valentine's week cruise. We all agree to pool our cash "tips" together for our Waiter, Asst Waiter, & Section Head Waiter, who took care of our tables of 6 & 8 in the MDR. Also "tipped" our cabin attendant in cash. All with cash "tips" half on first day & half on 6th day. We "tipped" extra for lobster night. It took less than 2 minutes at customer service desk to remove auto grats for all 7 cabins at the same time on the first day. We all also "tipped" extra at breakfasts, lunches, & tea time for our group. In all, think we all cash "tipped" 20% over & above the auto grats amount if we just left it alone, but everyone believed that we truly received Outstanding service for all staff. This is our preferred way to "tip" as a group. We've done it this way for 10+ group cruises, from groups of 12 - 40. Not right. Not wrong. Just the perfect way for us, & don't really what others feel about it...
  17. On the HOLLAND America's ROTTERDAM, cruising out of AMSTERDAM, with lots of Europeans onboard, there were lots & lots of smokers onboard. The entire Sea View bar were mostly packed, with no extra sitting chairs avail. Great bunch of friendly folks enjoying their fav vice. Our group smokes only cigars, so the only space for us is the outdoor bar, no indoor spaces, including the casino. There are literally hundreds of other public spaces avail for the anti-smokers, including all of our spouses, to spend their time, without venturing into our One allowed outdoor space...
  18. Just came back from cruise. So what do we do with the 2 Medallions itself? Trash it? Smash it? Burn it? Shred it? Are there residual personal info still on it...? Thanks,
  19. "you will wait in the Elite area..." & get to watch the lowly commoners breeze thru the Green Lane first...
  20. Go to: OceanReady Travel Checklist Personal Info & Documents Complete all 5 items
  21. Will do. I've already bought 2 dozen fake silk roses from Amazon for under $20 to bring onboard. But they look cheap & fake. Then saw these real fresh roses on sale at Whole Foods....
  22. No worries. Yes, we were able to it for our HAL Rotterdam cruise to Norway last year too, but tulips from Amsterdam port. Different cruise line, diff foreign port, nice(r) security. But just can't find info on Princess out of Galveston...
  23. Yes, tried that already. Pls re-read my 2nd sentence from my orig #1 post above: "Didn't see that we can pre-order flowers online." 24. Great. Thanks for the info that we can order flowers once onboard, did not know that. Yes, that's why I asked because there's not an exact policy in writing from Princess. Seems like it varies from port to port, state to state, security personnel, etc...
