  1. It is, like so many other things on Carnival, allowed de facto because they're not doing anything about it.
  2. nobody wants to hear your music except you! Not difficult to understand…
  3. it’s a shame how far the service has declined on carnival, when it’s considered discourteous to ask the waiter for a special request.
  4. so the answer is no and move on. No big deal. It’s not disrespectful or discourteous to ask. There was a time when guests were valued on carnival and were encouraged to ask for whatever they wanted. I am aware those days are long gone.
  5. there’s a big difference in asking and what you’re describing.
  6. My recommendation is to set everyone up with a cash account during check-in, and at some point between check-in and embarkation you can always go back in and add credit cards if they want (or they can do that themselves onboard at the kiosk or guest services). Yes you can skip through most of the check-in process just to nab an arrival time, then go back and complete the rest later.
  7. The photos are sold either way, whatever works for you.
  8. I don't think it's discourteous at all to ask for a certain menu item from the previous night. It's not a big deal. It's either yes or no. All they would have to do is open up a box of Mrs. Paul's and throw it in the fryer.
  9. JH posts it on his facebook page but usually not until close to the end of the previous month.
  10. The crew probably thinking, "at least they're not beating the snot out of each other or smoking pot" Choosing their battles.
  11. Bad idea. When and how will that $500 be refunded for one thing?
  12. I will be honest my wife and I will usually do the MDR pretty much every night, then hit up the buffet just before it closes for a second small helping of whatever we loved. I do know the fried oysters are on the buffet, but like I said I can't remember if the calimari is.
  13. The first night is one of the nights my wife and I always do the MDR...we love calimari, brisket, sweet & sour shrimp, and tiramisu. I know they have the brisket on the buffet but I don't remember if they do the calimari up there or not...
  14. Have not been on an Alaskan cruise on Carnival since the COVID restart, so hopefully someone may chime in with more recent experience. But I haven't heard of any issues either, certainly not on the level of the short cruises out of NOLA or NYC.
  15. You mean fights and what not? That's not typically affecting the Alaskan cruises as those tend to be longer and more expensive (the Alaska port fees alone can be more than some caribbean cruises). But it's still Carnival so you're still getting the Carnival product and clientele.
  16. You never sign up for a boarding time. You pick your arrival appointment at the pier during online checkin, which starts either 14 or 16 days before your cruise.
  17. Second night, and usually the 6th night but the second one can vary a little bit depending on the specific itinerary.
  18. That's not just cruisers, it's an entire generation of people. The reason comedy is dead.
  19. At least they brought back priority boarding, I really didn't expect to see that return. But it's a shame we lost the cabins being ready early.
  20. Carnival has partnered with KultureCity to make their ships sensory inclusive. You can check out a bag of sensory needs items from Guest Services.
  21. Policy coverage is ever changing and is different from state to state. It would behoove anyone interested in travel insurance to closely read the actual documents that the insurance carrier provides you with, rather than secondhand information on the internet that could well be inaccurate in regards to your specific circumstance.
  22. It's fairly common if you're in a room that has upper berths but only 2 booked, Carnival will move you out into a room without upper berths so someone who will use those upper berths can have the room. That's one common reason why this happens. But as Blerk said they could move you for any reason whatsoever, or no reason at all. I notice that when I book guarantee rates, I am often assigned a cabin that has upper berths even though I only book 2 people.
  23. A company that can only compete on price is not a good thing when they're $30Bn in debt and still not turning a profit, some three years after the start of the pandemic.
  24. I do agree, $1 per drink is my standard (whether it's alcohol or just a soda or water), and what often happens is the bar waiters seek me out and ask if I'm ready for another before I am even half done. I just keep a cache of $1's in my shirt pocket and peel one off for each receipt I sign. Easy peasy.
