  1. I think for the most part the shared table is a relic of the old era of cruising from when dinner was the major event of the evening. Nowadays people eat basically nonstop, especially on cruises, so it's nothing special.
  2. If I had as much of my money and personality tied up in $CCL as some on here, I'd tell myself that every other ship is ugly too. Stockholm Syndrome I believe it's called.
  3. Mardi Gras definitely has digital photos for sure. It's mostly some of the older ships that are still printing all the photos.
  4. It depends on the ship but yes. It is not fleetwide yet. They will print photos if you wish but you can also just buy the download.
  5. Is the same cabin on Elation also fully accessible? It's fairly common for fully accessible cabins to not allow bed arrangement changes otherwise they won't be fully accessible anymore when the floor space changes.
  6. I wonder if they actually did have a room for you had that platinum member shown up...hmmm...I guess it all worked out so it doesn't really matter
  7. Very good point - this was not a pillaging of public space like we saw with Sunshine.
  8. The Excel class really seems to be catering to the YTD crowd. As with all cruises, the evening entertainment is centered around dinner so no matter which seating you select you'll be able to make one of the show times.
  9. Right, the Pride is the only exception to the rule so far since the restart that I can think of.
  10. Right, I'm cool with getting my cabin assigned at the pier. But to wait after boarding? After all these stories of overbooked cruises (granted not CCL but still...) - no way, they'd put me in the presidential suite or something. I'm not getting on that ship without a cabin number. If that's a problem, they can deal with my credit card company if they refuse to give me my money back.
  11. I am OK with letting Carnival assign my cabin a lot of times, the cabin location isn't usually a big deal to me. But I still want a cabin. I feel like that's reasonable. Are you seriously saying that not having an assigned cabin for 5 hours of a cruise is acceptable to you? Being forced to carry on all your luggage and lug it around all day during crowded and busy embarkation, not being able to make any purchases, all of this is acceptable to you? It's the cruiser's fault because they were being cheap right? Give me a break.
  12. That was exactly my point. They may easily run out of that particular flavor during the cruise, or the delivery doesn't arrive in time to make it on the ship, etc.
  13. In recent drydocks, Carnival hasn't been replacing carpet or upholstery. They've just been doing the hull inspections and repainting that they're required to do. I think the only recent exception to this rule was the Pride where they also ripped out a lounge to add more staterooms.
  14. Carnival carries it fleetwide. However if that one particular flavor of soda is a make-or-break for you, I strogly recommend that you bring on a case for your cruise.
  15. Oh I firmly believe that Carnival deals with lots of folks every cruise who don't like their guarantee cabin assignment.
  16. Wow I can't believe it's possible to board the ship without an assigned cabin. How do they know where your luggage goes, how do you know where your muster station is, etc?
  17. Lido and the BBQ place above Lido is it for embarkation day lunch. There are a lot of choices besides the buffet though. Pizza, deli, guy's burgers, etc. If you want specialty coffee like cappuccino etc., that is at the coffee bar on deck 5 promenade. It should be open on embarkation day, although not always immediately as you board. It should open at some point though.
  18. Yes you can. If the OBC is loaded onto your account when you book, like a casino offer, then you can use it for pre-purchases. If it isn't loaded until you're onboard like from a TA, then you'll have to wait to spend it.
  19. That is interesting, not sure how that is possible. Something is wrong, that's for sure.
  20. Yes, they've gone through and added fridges to all the rooms fleetwide by now.
  21. Unless things have recently changed, Faster to the Fun is sold as a shore excursion on day 1 of the cruise at the embarkation port. It may also not be available for a cruise that is more than a year away. So if it still shows sold out under shore excursions, just check back every little bit until it becomes available. While FTTF does still occasionally sell out, it's more expensive these days and doesn't do as much as it used to so the mad rush to buy it ASAP is mostly over.
  22. In general Carnival hasn't been doing anything to their ships during drydocks except what is required to keep them seaworthy (scrape off the barnacles and repaint the hull). So don't expect any more than that. I think the only recent exception was Pride where in addition to that, they ripped out a lounge to add more cabins. They might do other small things like add an ADA lift to the main pool if Glory doesn't already have one. Drydock details will be added here, but probably not until after the drydock is done. https://help.goccl.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1473/~/carnival-glory-(gl)-fact-sheet
  23. It's entirely possible your cabin won't be assigned until you arrive at the pier. Happens every cruise I'm sure. It is what it is.
