  1. Deck 4 aft seems to be the usual quarantine area. No regular testing . People get sick.
  2. Icelands coast is beautiful....but unfortunately a rising number of passengers will not be able to leave the ship... First the usual part of deck 4 was closed for quarantine. Than both sides aft. Then one side aft of deck 5, later both and yesterday evening portside of deck 8 aft . But with less than 5 % of people wearing masks no wonder.
  3. We joined a "free" walking tour today of this company: https://www.politicallyincorrectfreetours.com/ and had a lot of fun and gave a higher tip at the end of the tour than we planned because it was so good.
  4. We even took the brochure at the port about the service, but there was nothing like a map or description where to catch the bus....we had time and thought it would be easier to check everything without heavy suitcases
  5. Hi Hallasm, I ve got a question. We tried to find the bus stop at orientkaj for the new free electric shuttle. There are 2 ships at oceankaj, so it should running. We were unable to find it. We found the temporary (lots of construction outside orientkaj metro) stop for no 164. No 25 was not written at the stop but seems to use the same stop. But no sign for the shuttle. We took the 164 to oceankaj and saw the sign for the cmp shuttle, but no bus. Where does it stop at orientkaj? Thank you
  6. We have been at the covid test and tried to upload the results within the 3 day period into verifly, but the app refused and wrote 48 hours, even if Holland Americas policy is 3 days. (Europe cruise, no greek port)

  8. Even if it is a bit off topic - in several European countries the communist party is a fully legal party and even if not participating in the parliament it is often successful on the local level. In Italy, the communist party has a long tradition, also in France. And in several countries of the former Eastern bloc that are now part of the EU, the communist party is still one of the many parties running for election. From 1997 to 2002, the party was involved in government in France under Socialist Prime Minister Lionel Jospin. In the present, the party is the largest communist party in Western Europe in terms of membership, with about 135,000 members. After World War II, the Communist Party of Italy (CPI, Italian PCI) was the largest CP in Western Europe, with 1.8 million members. From 1998 to 2000, Massimo D'Alema, the Italian PDS, was the first prime minister in a Western European state to come from a (former) Communist party. Greece: The still Marxist-Leninist KKE in particular, but also SYRIZA, have regained importance in recent years. In the May 2012 parliamentary elections, SYRIZA became the second-strongest party with 16.8 %, while the KKE (Communist Party of Greece) came fourth with 8.5 %. The Portuguese Communist Party was involved in government until 1976. So - yes - there are many democratic countries where a communist party is quite active and even involved in government. But - at the moment ESTA /the US is more interested in your social media accounts and your employer and your parents (why the heck are they interested in my parents - one of them is dead and the other is old - I am old too) than your membership of a party: https://nnuimmigration.com/esta-questions/
  9. I would gladly spend the fees for american ESTA for anything else. And they collect the money since 2010.....
  10. Hi, we join this trip, starting on monday. Maybe we will meet onboard.
  11. We have two days 😅, i am sure we will make it....
  12. Thank you very much for your fast reply! We have enough time to go to the Valby Center, it would have been a little bit more convenient at the airport. We will test in germany too, but there are a few days in between, so we feeling more safe to have an additional test, even if it is not necessary to embarc the ship (we think a 3 day old test is worth nothing....).
  13. I am looking for the last informations to have proper actual covid results at embarcation and do not find the free test site at parkdeck 5 at Copenhagen airport. Is it closed? I am registered and used the search function at https://sts.covidresults.dk/ Thanks a lot for help
  14. Hi Rochelle, we are on a similar cruise in June ... There is HOPP - E-Scooter Company (if you like) https://hopp.bike/ Then public transport is available: https://visitreykjavik.is/public-transportation http://www.publictransport.is/ Maybe you would try to rent a bike? https://icelandbike.com/bicyclerental_reykjavik.html The Nieuw Statendam is at Sundahöfn / Skarfabakki- one part of the port. (New Port) There is a tourist office at the port. From Skarfabakki it is a 45-60 Minutes walk into town There should also be a shuttle bus that takes you downtown in 5 minutes operated from the pier and easy to pickup as you dock (sometimes the shuttle is free by the cruise ship but normally there is a single fee 800 ISK). You also have the options of a finding a public bus for 460 ISK bus no. 16. Finally there are plenty of taxis waiting at the port. Small taxi is about 2.500 ISK for 4 pax.
  15. It seems to me that they have imported an outdated database during the update or before - because there was an error with the date of birth in my account (which was also in the app) I have clarified this error a few weeks ago by phone, in all accounts the date was displayed correctly - but yesterday was suddenly again the wrong date in the app. When I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, I couldn't log in for something like 30 minutes. When I was able to log in again, the correct date of birth was shown.
  16. Bus from central Reykjavík From Hlemmur square, take bus no. 4 and stop in Hamraborg (15 min). From there take bus no. 35 until you stop at Hafnarbraut (4 min), which is the nearest stop to Sky Lagoon. Follow the signs and walk for a few minutes down Hafnarbraut until you reach Vesturvör. Walk along the ocean and you will arrive before you know it. Visit straeto.is for more information. https://www.skylagoon.com/getting-here-hours/?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_term=%2Bsky %2Blagoon&utm_campaign=skylagoon-s-brand-europe&utm_content=&gclid=CjwKCAjwv-GUBhAzEiwASUMm4s1u5aFelWjmlXYgBKaegTvFW3q1tW3g515lGN0E4BTZWxdl7lQRohoCGHYQAvD_BwE
  17. Apparently, doctors in Germany are much more reluctant to prescribe paxlovid: only 9000 prescriptions have been registered since april, even if Paxlovid is manufactured in Freiburg/Germany for the world market, according to a report by the reputable Tagesschau from 1 week ago. Doctors here prescribe (hopefully) what makes sense, not necessarily what the patient wants.
  18. Maybe this Museum is something you enjoy: https://louisiana.dk/en/ The Sound coastal route takes about 35 minutes from Copenhagen’s Central Station and 10 minutes from Elsinore. You get off at Humlebæk Station and from then it is a 10-minute walk to the museum.
  19. Since Paxlovid is treated by some here as if it were an over-the-counter drug, I plead for these users to read again the indication - but also the side effects. And read very carefully what contraindications there are. There are good reasons why paxlovide should only be prescribed after careful review of the medical record. In particular, the partial component ritonavir blocks important degradation processes in the liver. Therefore, experts suspect interactions with numerous drugs during the treatment period. Also, paxlovid should not be taken in cases of severe liver and kidney disorders. Interactions are suspected with certain: Prostate medications (eg: alfuzosin). heart medications (eg: amiodarone, bepridil, dronedarone, propafenone, etc.) cholesterol-lowering drugs (e.g.: lovastatin, simvastatin, lomitapide, etc.) antihistamines (e.g., astemizole, terfenadine, etc.) gout medications (e.g. colchicine) erectile dysfunction medications (sildenafil, avanafil, vardenafil, etc.) cancer drugs (e.g.: neratinib, venetoclax, etc.) antibiotics (e.g.: fusidic acid, etc.) Painkillers, sedatives and migraine medications (eg: pethidine, diazepam, midazolam, dihydroergotamine, etc.) Neuroleptics and antipsychotics (e.g.: lurasidone, pimozide, clozapine, etc.) and many more. This list includes only some of the drugs that may interact with each other. The topic of drug interactions is therefore an important part of the medical consultation prior to a possible Paxlovid treatment. A physician in an onboard hospital does not have the information about a patient that one's primary care physician has and cannot assess whether the use is appropriate.
  20. Never never never would I take that risk. The beginning of the journey is a weekday. The scheduled arrival of Ryanair is at 14:00. Until the suitcases are unloaded and you get through customs and passport control, passes at least another 30 minutes (rather more). In the middle of the day - a car from the airport to Oceankaj takes about 45 minutes in the best case - but then there must be no traffic jam or accident on the route. I would rather calculate 1 hour and still consider that optimistic. Public transport is 1 hour and more. The Ryanair flight from Dublin today, for example, is delayed by 1.5 hours..... I looked at the flight history on flightaware and the machine is often 30-45 minutes late - more often than it is on time.
  21. I suspect the shipping companies are planning for the best and expecting the worst. So they try to plan theoretically the classic routes "Baltic Sea" with St. Petersburg and everyone who books a trip of it must be aware that due to the war and sanctions changes are to be expected. I'm sure alternative routes are already in the drawer for 2023 as well.
  22. I think whether you like Tivoli or not depends on your expectations. Tivoli is in no way comparable to amusement parks like Disney, Universal or Six Flags. It is an old-fashioned park, nostalgic, with partly historic rides, in the middle of a big city. Many Danes visit Tivoli without riding a single ride - they go to one of the restaurants, walk around the park afterwards, watch the guards or attend one of the concerts at Tivoli - many are included in the price, some cost extra.
  23. I also don't understand why they don't offer that anymore - because it would be a real differentiating feature that Holland America has over other cruise lines - precisely because they invest in very versatile art and each ship is themed very differently. And on each Pinnacle Class ship, over $4 million has been invested in art pieces. Of course, all shipping companies now have art on board - but it's often very predictable. With Holland America, visiting a new ship always means completely new exciting art.
  24. It is a pity that the guided tours are no longer offered - there was also always a brochure for it. I had it given to me a few times at the reception and did a tour with the explanations about the ship and enjoyed it very much.
  25. In some countries it is forbidden to collect sand, shells or stones and take them home (Turkey and Italy for example), in other countries it is strictly forbidden to import such things and then there are of course e.g. shells and sponges where it is forbidden to take them home for species protection reasons (giant clams etc.). That's another reason why I don't take anything home in the meantime. The fines can be very high!
