  1. HEY NOW! We're thinking of trying a cruise on Regal Princess for several reasons, but as we enjoy a robust crowd, we are wondering if we'll be bored. We mostly hang around the pool area, does Princess have anything going on around the pool during the day? Im going to post in the Princess forum too, so woah woah woah stop the clock.

Any info would be appreciated! Thanks

  2. I had a spa interior last year on the Vista and really enjoyed it! It was convenient, had the nice toiletries and spa access. And, i was surprised that not having windows didnt bother me. It was a good lesson as we usually get a balcony. I now include spa interior cabins in my normal searches now. Enjoy yourself!

My wife and I got off the Breeze on May 4th and we booked it again yesterday for next September.  Plus, we have two more cruises before then.

There was always plenty of bacon when we went to the buffet.  I can't speak to the waffles and pancakes since I don't eat those.  But I can say the salad was certainly one thing that was in abundance.  I ate a large salad every day for dinner.   There were always plenty of offerings like: multiple types of lettuces and mixed greens, radishes, cucumbers, carrots, onions, various meat toppings, cheeses and more than I can think of to list.  They also had caesar salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, and beans.  I am not sure what has changed in three weeks, but there were plenty of salad options when we were there.

As far as the pizza crust, it has been that thin for a while.  Some of us really prefer it that way.

Yes, they have removed pens.  But not having a pen certainly doesn't make or break a cruise for me.

Yes, they do have fewer room stewards now.  That has been discussed on previous posts here in depth.  However, We definitely can say that our steward did a great job and we never lacked for anything we needed or asked for.

Hey there buddy! We were on the 4-27 sailing too. We had a pretty good time but we did like our cruise on the Vista last year better.

  4. We love getting some cookies and the occasional sammich from room service. Not as often now that they do the little late night schnacky buffet. I still like to get a pizza, and cookies and head back to our cabin. And, from the deli, they have a few good sandwiches and i seem to recall fries too. But always, a hot dog with chili onions kraut and mustard!

  5. Hey there buddy.... we sail this Saturday. If you are willing to pay shipping(and blanket cost), i can grab one and bring it back. We return on the 4th(may the 4th be with you) and can mail it out that Monday. Let me know, pm or email or reply and i'll follow-up

  6. Behind the Fun is a great tour and if you have ever been involved in restaurant or hotel operations, it can be interesting to see how they do it all so smoothly. I have done it on the Breeze(2016) and the Vista(2018). I really liked the tour on both however there were a few things about the last one that were a bit of a stumble for me. On the Breeze we were able to go to the bow and look around but not on the Vista. On the Vista you ended in the Red Frog and were given a sample glass size of 1 flavor of beer, i felt that a 5oz sample was a bit skimpy for a $95 tour. But, i really enjoy it and will do it again when on a different class of ship.

I also have a fun story about the Behind the Fun tour on the Magic in 2017.... it was the last seaday and i was drowning my last-day-of-cruise sorrows in the free champagne art show with my fiance, and she interprets anything more than 1 drink as over-doing it. So, i said, "I have to use the facilities, I'll be right back." Well as i made my way down the hall towards the bathrooms, i passed the library, i believe, and noticed what was the end of the BTF tour. I went back and the waiter had a tray full of mimosas and a tray of pastries, and was tidying up the area. The person who had led the tour was packing up her stuff and was in a big hurry, i could tell as she seemed a bit frustrated that someone came into the room. I asked a silly question, to seem harmless, and she spit an answer as she went out the door. I turned to the waiter and asked, "What is to become of these orphaned beverages, my good man?" He said tour was over and he was taking everything back to the kitchen. He was still cleaning but i knew i had to work quickly, and i still actually had to go to the can. I said, "How much for some of these beverages, sir?" He just shrugged. I gave him a fiver, took 2 and said i'll be back. I slugged back those, left the glasses on the counter in the bathroom. Got back to my new bestie, and he was about done but still had his tray. I gave him a ten, took 3, we both smiled.... #HitemwiththeHein

  7. The Vista is my favorite(in my best Richard Christy voice) i got to sail the Vista a 2nd time last year, April and Sept, and really enjoyed seeing familiar faces! I like the new features and want to try the Horizon. We did the Blue Hole in Jamaica, and i really would like to go back there.

Be sure to do both sides of the sky ride because each one gives a different view.

Okay, I haven’t actually tried this one yet but I am going for it on my next cruise in June.

I only eat breakfast in the MDR and I like to order the eggs Benedict but sometimes I notice that the English muffin is too hard. A local French restaurant serves eggs Benedict on a croissant instead. I am going to request a sub out on the English muffin and ask for Eggs Benedict prepared on a split croissant.

on another thred I read that someone goes to the blue iguana cantina for breakfast and orders a breakfast burrito bowl instead of a typical breakfast burrito and I like that idea too because I can’t digest tortillas very well due to water retention while cruising.

I never thought of the croissant but i get my benedict with salmon and the norlander bread. I'm going to try for a croissant though!

    Thanks!

  9. Just another clear example of cutbacks! Fires on a ship are because of the constant nickel and diming by big corporate Carnival to increase profits and make us pay more. And, dare I say, if they still put chocolates on the pillows after the 3rd cabin service of the day, there wouldnt have been as much smoke in the hallway. I heard that they are going to start to charge to use the elevators next month. It's shameful. We deserve a refund, 50% off our next cruise, and to be able to steer the boat if we ask nice and make a happy plate at dinner.

Im glad everyone is safe. Safe travels everybody

You get a free towel, someone else gets an open lounge chair? Win-win.

Well, hypothetically.... if someone were to find an unattended towel, just trade it in for a fresh one at the hut with the color of the finder's choice. Lido=Blue, Serenity=Yellow, Havana=Tan. But you would also need to be a little stealthly and stash it promptly upon returning to you cabin, hypothetically. Because a smart cabin steward would see an extra towel and snag the extra(s). If you're gonna cruise, dont forget to bring a towel!

  11. I like to graze a little at several places. I get some Guys fries, then make my way to the Lido buffet. Grab something there, then walk down to the BBQ joint and grab a couple things. I do my version of an app platter. It also gives me a litte walk-about. But, on my last cruise i discovered half price fish bowls in the red frog, so that is my new embark-day goto!

  12. We have always tried to do a CT, but end up not going or not being able to get in. I did the Behind the Fun tour on the Vista and am now want to do a CT on the Vista or Horizon. We'll be on the Breeze soon but not sure we want to do it now if it isnt in the new Vista fishbowl!

  13. Also, depending in the ship you may be sailing, I was on the Vista last year and there is a pair of mini duck pin bowling lanes in the room on the sports deck. I believe it was about 3.50 or so a game. Those were a lot of fun!

On Carnival (and sometimes Costa) they force the dining waitstaff to perform after-dinner "entertainment".  Dancing on the bus stands, skits, etc. It's embarrassing and delays my coffee.

So, i am Carnival cruiser that is trying to venture out and HAL has caught my eye.  This particular thread seemed like a good one to get some good intel. While the dancing does sometimes delay dessert or some after dinner drinks, i recall our first cruise and enjoying it.

  15. I lucked out and got to go on the Vista a 2nd time last year, and mostly because if the great crew it us now my favorite ship! Although i'm going to try the Horizon soon. There are a few great open decks out front that a lot of people miss. Walk all the way out front on 5, then there are stairs going up. Also, they have a couple of later evening parties on Serenity. Be sure and do the Behind the Fun tour, it was great seeing the new ship class. People also miss the Italian and Mongolian wok are open for lunch for free!!  Have fun on the Vista!!

  16. A couple years ago, we sailed the Breeze and booked a balcony gaurantee. We ended up with one of the cabins right above the bbq! Well, everyone had complained about that spot, but it wasnt bad. The bbq was only open a few times, and the times it was open we really werent in our cabin. It saved us some money, and we would do a gaurantee again.
