  1. I need some direction from some folks experienced with Port Canaveral and returning rental cars. We sail 4-29 on Carny Magic. We have a rental car to return that morning. The current plan is to drop my people and luggage at ye olde port then return car and hop on their shuttle. I am looking to accomplish this somewhere in the 1030-1130 window. We have 11-1130 check-in. Just to give complete information, i checked out Goog maps/earth and guesstimated approx 10 walk from car rental to port area but unsure if that is a valid option/fallback. Thanks errr-biddy.

  2. We sail the end of April and I'm super excited to see all the horribly-abused-and-damaged veteran cruisers that will be throwing hissy-fits because *DUN DUN DUN* NO TABLECOTHS...... OOHHHH THE HUMANITY!!! There will hopefully be a big group sitting outside the Bridge holding their breathes until the Captain brings out his private stash of table-clothing. Naked tables.... sheesh....

oh and after last years cruise with American Table menu, I am super excited to try the new port dishes. As someone that grew up in food service their food is good quality. I would truly LOVE to see the nasty slop these "foodies" shovel down their talk-holes when they are on land. I'm sure they arent eating at gourmet restaurants daily. Are there a small amount of problems in the MDR, yes. But I havent heard of anyone dying on a Carnival cruise because they couldnt find anything to eat. *drops mic* :*

  3. I have a feeling that getting a "big sealed bag of pipe tobacco" onto the ship would be significantly easier than the explanation when you debark.

Customs: Sir, step out of line please.

Guy: It's legal, for my pipe! D'OH! I mean it's not the devils lettuce!

Customs: (you hear the glove snap) Sir, bend ov-ah please.

This may or not be how this plays out. But I am definitely interested to find out.

  4. I would have just given them their space. It doesn't bother me. I feel we have bigger issues in this world than marijuana. Its becoming more decriminalized nationwide d/t the heavier drugs taking precedence. In fact, MANY of the islands and ports we all visit during a cruise grows, sells and distributes.

What concerns me more are the prostitutes and their **** that were on the Breakaway out of NYC cruising with us in February. Take a moment to let that set in... :o

That's funny, although I am really struggling to figure out what four letter word you hid. There was an 80's pirate movie, Yellowbeard, that had a woman with a moustache drawn on her face and they called her Capt Prostitute.

  5. La Romana looks like we are going to spend some $ on a good excursion to get much out of that day. I was excited about going to the DR until i did my research on that port.

We walked outside the fence, took a right. Ticket booth had bus tickets, $7pp to the little recreated village. It was a short ride. It was basically a side thing to a big golf resort. A couple restaurants, a cigar store and a few others. The customary locals in costume, costs $1 for them to pose with you. It was an ok thing. My parents took a bus into town and said the vendors were really pushy and was not a good experience. But again YMMV.

  6. Take half as many clothes. Take more money than you think you will need. Spend $20 in the casino to remind yourself why you dont gamble. Join in a Lido game, join a line dance. Get up early and watch a sunrise. Find the "wind tunnel" door at the front of the ship and take silly pictures! (Our 1st cruise on the Paradise we spent probably 20 min every morning doing dumb stuff at those doors!) And HAVE FUN and TRY NEW THINGS!

  7. Hey there all! We will be in Coz in a couple months and want to do an all over the island day. We rented a car last time but I'm thinking it would be easier to have a driver. There will be at least 5, possibly up to 9. Any recommendations would be appreciated! TIA!!

  8. Good afternoon, I want to take a survey. We will be on Carnival Magic in April with a stop in Belize. We want to do Altun Ha and have seen some good reviews for Reg's tours. So my questions are: Has anyone had any issues with returning "close" to all-aboard? Basically, we want to do some ruins without all the extra upselling and wasting time. Still a little apprehensive about doing an non-ship excursion so far from port. Also, any other recommendations are appreciated.

  9. We did this itinerary in April, here's my take: La Romana, we walked outside the port fence and got $7 bus tickets to go to the ye olde tymes village with the ampitheater. My parents took a bus into town and they said it was not very good, like they didnt stay very long. Curacao, we took a Carnival excursion that was a tour that went to liquor "factory" then we got a couple hours at a beach. It was an ok tour. Aruba, that was our fave!! We rented a little car just passed the bus circle outside the port. It was like $45 for the day. We drove all over the island!! Stopped at a beach for a couple hours, it was great!! We also walked around some stores by the port after we returned the car, never felt unsafe. I wish we would have walked down to the moving bridge in Curacao. Our dd is 12 for reference. Hope you have fun!!
