  1. Some choice there! Hope you enjoy the pub and I’m sure lots to see throughout the ship.
  2. The PG cabins are much more spacious on QM2 than QV and QE and given you are on a TA you will get full use of the dining room. The grills lounge is not as nice and I can’t imagine you will get much use of the grills terrace in January. You have to decide if a more select dining experience is worth a punt for £1800.
  3. I would second this - you obviously enjoy people watching so if nothing else it will add to your experience!
  4. You do know that with Cunard you can carry on what you like in terms of alcohol/drinks etc!
  5. Really enjoying your very detailed live report - had to start at the beginning to make sure I get the full experience! Good to hear you are enjoying the food in Britannia (hopefully service will improve for you) and the Golden Lion. We generally never eat in Kings Court, unless for the speciality dining, preferring room service as an alternative if we miss lunch/breakfast due to ports of call/excursions. Hope the rest of your trip goes well and thanks for taking the time to post.
  6. Thank you for your detailed report on your Princess Grill experience on QM2 - in comparison can you confirm if you felt it was worth the upgrade from Britannia?
  7. I’m from this side of the pond and am with Mudhen. Real comfort food is tomato soup (Heinz cream of) with a toasted cheese (with/without ham) buttered on the outside and fried till crispy brown. Dipping dependent on mood - either way a mood lifter.
  8. Given that 19th November TA is the Literary Festival at sea I would imagine the focus will be on the many organised events in on board.
  9. Future cruise deposits/credits (to book at a later date) are no longer available to those from UK - no idea why we are now excluded from this benefit.
  10. Yes additional onboard credit if booking Cunard fare - dependent on cabin class/length of cruise.
  11. Sounds a bit stingy for QG - where’s the champers?
  12. Yes, in fact our butler left us a new bottle of Hendrik’s the morning before disembarking as he thought we were running low!
  13. If you are considering this as a one time event ‘splurge’ then you can do no better than a December crossing! As already stated the weather can’t be predicted - other than it will be cold in December and have shorter daylight hours. The December crossings are unique in terms of festive decorations/activities and amazing atmosphere. The QM2 can hold her own in all weathers but go for a mid ship lower deck if concerned about movement.
  14. Get a Doctors note and claim off your insurance - will only loose your excess.
  15. But they are land based! We cruise because we like to be at sea and particularly enjoy our sea days on a transatlantic crossing.
  16. This is the last leg of the round trip Caribbean departing 19.11.23 for which there is a roll call - you could start one for 8.12.23 east bound crossing. Not sure what time the tours are given likely sail away should be early evening (all being well). Rockefeller centre tree and surrounding lights and stores such as SAKS etc all accessible during the day but would check on Dyker Heights etc which we have done as a night time tour when staying in NYC.
  17. Carry on board or order room service (charged to account) Ice will be delivered on a daily basis if requested along with sliced lime/lemon at no additional charge.
  18. Anyones guess then - we are platinum, we were mid ship deck 7 and given 3.15.
  19. What deck are you on? I believe they are currently boarding by deck, regardless of loyalty status, and the higher the deck the later the embarkation. We found this to be the case on our QV cruise in June being on Deck 7.
  20. Deepest sympathy to family and colleagues/friends. Rest in peace.
  21. We book hotels independently. Would recommend Pan Pacific on Raffles Boulevard - fantastic views of the Marina Bay and harbour from the top floor bar - we raised a glass to QM2 as we watched her sail away. Worth joining the loyalty scheme and booking direct for best rates. We had a lovely room with access to exec/club bar which included evening drinks and appetisers (which were very substantial) and the option to take breakfast there or in the main restaurant. Walking distance to Raffles for a Singapore Sling!
  22. Have an amazing crossing - good start for you so far and looking forward to your updates. Bon Voyage!
  23. I am very disappointed to hear about the quality of beef on board QM2, given we are due to sail on her for 26 nights in November. We had no issues with any of the beef/lamb/duck etc., dishes on our recent QV cruise and did in fact think it was some of the best we have had. Do the ships share the same supplier when sailing from Southampton?
  24. Yes found it - thank you for the update and all correct for me! A welcome addition.
