  1. Here is the URL for the web version of the Medallion app https://oceanready-personalinfo-ui.prod.ocean.com/ Remember to first choose language on the home page before login. You use your standard Princess account login credentials
  2. Regarding the crusiecritic redirect try clearing the DNS cache on your device and in your router as their local DNS cache may be corrupted. Also clear your browser cache as that may be corrupted. You may also have malware on your device. I ma not sure why you chose too have two different topics in one post but it is more effective to have one topic per post.
  3. There is a web version of the app that has a better interface for booking dining reservations.
  4. It seems from recent reports that the waters in the Hudson Valley, New York are far more dangerous. It is all relative.
  5. Yes it is normal for shipping to use tugs in San Francisco area.. There are strong currents and the wind can gust rapidly and with changing direction just in a matter of minutes. In addition as a vessel moves in the bay it can come in and out of wind shadows. (I know of places where there can be no wind but you move a few feet in the water and you suddenly hit a very high wind). The high sides of the large vessels thus act like sails, they need assistance navigating into position to dock. I looked at the nearest to pier 27 NOAA weather station reports for the time of the incident and the wind was definitely pulsating in a weird pattern,
  6. In other words drink the waste product of making Vegemite.
  7. I suspect that the investigation will look at the current at the time of the incident and the direction of the wind and wind gusts at the time of the incident. I took a look at the current at that location and the NOAA report of the wind and wind gusts at their nearest weather station at the time frame of the incident. The combination of current and direction of wind and wind gusts were not favorable. I suspect one of the recommendations of any investigation will be to have instrumentation placed at the terminal to detect wind conditions and provide alerts to shipping in a similar fashion to what is at the airport. On the other hand NOAA may put instrumentation closer to the terminal but that would depend on if they have the budget to fund that.
  8. I suspect dishes and cutlery going through an industrial washing machine/sterilizer may qualify as kosher but a consultation with a rabbi may be necessary to resolve the issue. this is loosely based on something I was taught many decades ago. Plastic flatware may or may not be kosher depending on the release material used in the molds.
  9. Somewhere buried in the FAQs Princess recommends rubber soled shoes so you actually complied with their recommendation.
  10. The scuff marks are too high to be from the tug. They are more likely fender scrub marks.
  11. I do not know if this email address is still in use but you can try dietaryrequest@princesscruises.com Maybe someone else can confirm if it still in use. In addition I do not know if they have suitable wine on board. You may have to take your own for services.
  12. For Kosher meals you need to inform Princess prior to your cruise. Make sure to deal with this well before embarkation day. The following is from https://www.princess.com/learn/faq/onboard/dining-and-nightlife/ " Princess is happy to meet your request for low-sodium, low-fat, low-sugar and vegetarian diets. Visit Cruise Personalizer® to indicate your dietary preferences. In addition, kosher meals and baby food are available upon advance written request. Any other special diet requests must be authorized in advance by the Princess corporate office. You or your travel consultant must advise Princess in writing of any special diet, allergies or medical needs. Requests must be received no later than 35 days prior to departure for cruises to Alaska, Canada/New England, Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, Panama Canal and Coastal Getaways. For all other cruises, requests must be received no later than 65 days prior to departure. Once onboard, please check with the Director of Restaurant Operations to confirm your request. Any special dining requests (name brands, daily food order requests, sample menus, etc.) not related to medical or allergy requirements should be directed to the onboard dining staff and is not handled by our Dietary Office."
  13. There are other ship repair yards in San Francisco Bay.
  14. And Prince Rupert is very charming. Across from the dock and up the hill is The Museum of Northern BC which is a monumental long house. https://visitprincerupert.com/experience/history-and-culture/ As a rail head Prince Rupert has a railroad museum. There is fishing and much more.
  15. Someone on board will have to ask an officer if they can provide details of the upcoming dry dock / wet dock that is scheduled for late September / October. I was told most of the crew were being sent home for the duration. That is unusual as they are typically used for deep cleaning / fire watch etc..
  16. Have you actually read the law regarding pilotage in San Francisco Bay? Have you read the "Pilot-Master Exchange Card" for San Francisco Bay ?
  17. I wonder what the current direction and velocity was at the time and the wind direction and velocity at the time. Looking at the history at NOAA the winds were gusting and changing directions quite frequently...not ideal for a high sided vessel in a confined space.
  18. Following on from your comment for those not in the know tides and currents go hand in hand so to speak.
  19. The Ruby Princess is schedule to go into dry dock late September followed by a wet dock. That is it is undergoing some major refurbishments. Now there will be some added work due to the incident today.
  20. See the following for tide at Golden Gate https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/noaatidepredictions.html?id=9414290
  21. At least they have a load of Crystal Geyser water. Back in May it was bottled water from Columbia.
  22. It is actually a legal requirement that a licensed San Francisco Bay Bar Pilot is used. My chart shows that Pier 27 has been dredged to 37 feet while the neighboring pier 23 is 23 feet on its pier 27 facing side.
  23. Actually it would be easier to keep them on the ship and if need be issue travel vouchers etc on the ship. If they are no shows at 4 PM it could be claimed that said passengers would have been no shows anyway.
  24. My understanding is that Bar Pilot is in full command of movements and the captain at that point is under the Bar Pilot. The San Francisco Bar Pilots are highly trained. It is not expected that the master of a ship that is not permanently in the San Francisco Bay would understand all the weird currents, rocks, shifting sand banks, etc., in the Bay.
