  1. The captain is not in control coming into San Francisco Bay. See my post #35 The San Francisco Bar Pilot and / or the tug captains will be at risk of penalty. Some of the tug boats are run aggressively. I once saw a tug take out a number of pilings at the pier across from pier 27. He had applied too much power going astern when attempting to pull a broken fuel barge away from the Grand Princess.
  2. Coming in to San Francisco Bay they are under the control of Bay Pilots. If I remember correctly when a ship is heading in to San Francisco Bay a Bay Pilot boards at about 20 Mile Rock. I suspect there will be an official inquiry involving the Bay Pilot, the Master of the Ruby Princess and the tug boat masters.
  3. I checked https://www.princess.com/news/news_releases/ and no news there regarding the Ruby Princess.
  4. Ruby Princess is scheduled to go in for a major dry dock in September so this is another item to put on the repair list. I suspect that the USCG will require a seaworthiness inspection to be made starting today and that a patch box will be welded over the hole if there is no structural problems internally and that will be repaired permanently in dry dock. If there is structural damage internally then the Ruby will have to be put in for proper repairs possibly in one of the Bay Area dry docks.
  5. Except the tugs do not work on that side of the ship when going into the port of San Francisco and pier 27. Plus the scuffs seem a bit high up on the hull for tugs to make.. More likely friction marks from hitting the vendors at excessive speed.
  6. I looked at the Celebrity drink packages FAQ and it seems they do not have Jameson which if I remember correctly is your choice of beverage.
  7. Another update to the SF Cruise Terminal schedule has been posted. https://sfport.com/files/2023-06/2023 San Francisco Cruise Schedule 2023-06-02.pdf
  8. See https://sfport.com/maritime/cruise#tab-12453-pane-2
  9. All they want to see at the Cruise Terminal in San Francisco is your passport. You need to show your passport to enter the Terminal building and so on.
  10. I think you will find that the Golden Princess (now the Pacific Adventure) and the Star Princess (now the Pacific Encounter) have an indoor pool. These are the other 2 ships in the original Grand Class. It would be nice if Princess had ships other than the Grand Princess with an indoor pool as it makes swimming in cold windy weather more pleasant.
  11. Crown class is also missing the indoor pool with the mezzanine floor right off the buffet.
  12. The Crown Princess is the first of the Crown Class which is derived from the Grand Class design.
  13. The color is way off in that photograph. Even the life ring in that photograph have the wrong chroma.
  14. On the Ruby they had Alaskan Salmon as a daily item in the MDR.
  15. They are not AARP Gift Cards. They are Princess Gift Cards sold by AARP. In fact the title of this Topic is incorrect
  16. As I previously stated when I was on the Ruby Princess back in May I asked crew about the upcoming dry dock. They said it was going to be 16 days dry dock followed by 10 days wet dock. They did not have details of the work to be done. A lot of the crew were going to be on leave while the ship was in dry dock.
  17. The Grand has slightly larger showers and cabin space. Corridors are slightly wider. Has a covered pool. Hand washing sinks in the Horizon Court. Actual dedicated pastry area in the Horizon Court with an ice cream freezer. Spirits of the Seas is larger. Has an Alfredo's. Has actual teak on the promenade unlike the ugly yellow painted surface on the Ruby. Those are just a few of the things.
  18. Maybe she had just spray painted the interior of her car? 😉
  19. There is so much wrong with the design of the Ruby one could write a long essay.
  20. What is there to dread about the shower curtains? On the other hand the shower stall seems smaller than the ones on the Grand Princess.
  21. The 16 day dry dock/ 10 day wet dock is late September/October 2023 and many of the crew will be going home for a break.
  22. When I was on the Ruby Princess back in May I asked crew about the upcoming dry dock. They said it was going to be 16 days dry dock followed by 10 days wet dock. They did not have details of the work to be done.
