  1. We booked the cunard air package and price wise it was very good. However, our last internal flight from London Heathrow to Manchester has been cancelled. It was cancelled just after we boarded, 3 weeks or more till we get back, and cunard have been no help at all. Their line is that we were notified more than 14 days in advance and reimbursed for that leg (£90 pp) so it was then up to us to sort it out and claim on the insurance. The woman on board that we spoke to asked if we could get the train or stay with family near Heathrow!
  2. But you had to wear a mask in those venues. We were also isolated, for 6 days and had to keep our masks on at all times inside for a further 4 days.
  3. We were on her for this. Great to see those photos. The thing that I never expected was how beautiful Panama is as you slowly cruise along between the docks. An amazing day.
  4. Having just come off QE I can confirm that there are very few ballgowns. For gala nights I wore a knee length black/purple cocktail dress, a dark yellow maxi dress and a purple velvet ankle length shift dress. OH wore a dark suit with either a bow tie or a normal tie. We fitted in fine. We also thoroughly enjoyed watching all the dancers in the Queen’s Room.
  5. We weren’t overly impressed by the Verandah especially at the supplement price. Starter of lobster cocktail was lovely and my steak was good but the husband’s steak not so good and it was all a bit “emperor’s new clothes “ to me. Coriander was a regular offering and Dinner at the Lido menu looked good too.
  6. We were thinking of you guys when we heard this! Slightly off topic but the tapas place in Barcelona that we loved is Cuidad Condal. Please pass that on toJill & John as well. Hope you’re enjoying yourselves and dancing lots, Bev and Paul x
  7. We have been in 8007 so I assume 3 decks above your allocated cabin. We are under the Lido and have heard nothing from there and very little movement even though we had a couple of bumpy nights.
  8. We are currently on deck 6 towards the rear. There is a security door between us and the stern so I assume those on the other side are not isolation cabins. Pretty sure the one next to us going forwards is an isolation and was being cleaned last night. I can't tell you any more than that, sorry.
  9. Currently on QE. Masks are compulsory indoors except when eating or drinking or in your own cabin of course. We have been in isolation since the day after San Francisco when there was shipwide testing for those who had embarked before SF and were staying on until at least LA. I had no symptoms and oh started with a slight cough that very day! We were moved from our inside cabin to a very nice balcony cabin. Full Britannia menu for lunch and dinner, and room service menu for breakfast, drinks etc. We tested negative today, after 5 days and assuming we test negative tomorrow we will go back to our original cabin (we'll really miss the balcony!). Then we can go about the ship as usual, wearing our masks of course but can't eat or drink inside the ship, except our cabin, until 10 days are up. We've had daily calls from hotel services and they've looked after us really well. We wore our masks on board but may well have picked it up onshore, who knows. Its a risk we take travelling now with the protocols on board. Fortunately most of our daily in isolation have been sea days and we've very much appreciated the balcony!
  10. We are currently on board. Short sleeved shirts are fine in the Britannia dining room, as are polo shirts, with or without jackets. The key word is “collared”. Polo shirts have a collar and are acceptable. Some gents are in a long sleeved shirt and tie, some are not. I’ve not seen any jeans in the Britannia dining room in the evening. As I’ve said before most people are dressing up for gala nights, and there are some lovely outfits.
  11. I’m currently on QE. Gala nights have been lovely, lots of dressing up, the odd kilt, a stunning sari on red and gold night. A mix of tux and dark suits. There have been some stunning dresses, more cocktail style than formal evenings gowns. Smart attire has been a mix of jackets and slightly more casual, all collared shirts though, polo shirts, dress shirts etc. I’ve worn white or black linen trousers with pretty tops, and dresses, with either sparkly flat sandals or wedge heels. Regardless of what this forum may indicate at times, there is zero snobbishness on board, just people enjoying a beautiful ship. Oh, and more dolphins alongside tonight.
  12. Oh thank you! You are lucky to live in such a beautiful city. Manchester is pretty cool too, we visit often. Yes, we are so lucky to be able to do such an amazing itinerary. San Francisco next!
  13. Lovely to meet you too. Safe journey home. I’m sure you’ll be back onboard again soon!
  14. We’re having a wonderful time, Alaska was truly incredible, we fell in love with Victoria and are now en route to San Francisco.
  15. Boarding was a pain, nearly 3 hours and over an hour when we had the day in Vancouver after Alaska. Mainly down to US border security I think eg only 3 people on desks and some of the machines for the US/Canadian citizens not working.
  16. We are currently onboard, having joined on 11th July for the Alaska segment and staying on till Fort Lauderdale. We are in a Britannia inside cabin on deck 8 forward. Perfect location for us, handy for the Commodore Club for pre dinner drinks, and the Lido, where we prefer to have breakfast and lunch. There have been canapés in the Commodore most nights, and a glass of fizz in the Britannia dining room twice so far on Gala nights, presumably instead of cocktail parties. The gala nights have been lovely, with many people dressing up! The Ice White night was especially impressive. Alaska was stunning, we saw whales, dolphins, lots of bald eagles and seals. We completely fell in love with Victoria and would love to return there one day. Service on board is excellent, the staff are lovely. Food is also very good and my lactose intolerant husband is being looked after very well. We bought the premium non alcoholic drinks package and are getting plenty of use from it, along with the odd cocktail and glass of wine. We’ve only been to one show so far as we needed some early nights but will probably go to more later in the cruise. There are plenty of activities, the husband is enjoying the watercolour classes and I’m working my way through the well-stocked library! As it’s Saturday it’s time I did my usual Parkrun, so I’m off to trot round Deck 3 shortly. I’ll log back in later and I’m happy to answer any questions.
  17. I’m on board as well. I don’t know how many guests are on board but it does feel less than full. We are on late dining and there are plenty of empty tables. The service is excellent, I can see no obvious signs of being short staffed.
  18. Many thanks to everyone who helped with ArriveCan queries. Very impressed with the speedy and slick arrivals process at Vancouver last night. Boarding QE today.
  19. Managed to complete the ArriveCan this morning, I guess adding the CBSA declaration won't go through now anyway! I have a hard copy of the QR code as well.
  20. I guess it's asking us because we're entering Canada from the UK.
  21. one last thing - I have both me and my husband on the ArriveCan app - can we both do the CBSA declaration on the one app or will he need to download his own? thanks
  22. thanks. MAN is also having problems but we will have 3.5 hours to get through! Then 4+ hours at LHR. I noticed the Vancouver flight has been late leaving every day this week! We'll get there, eventually.
  23. many thanks. We fly direct from Manchester UK via Heathrow so anything could happen to our luggage! Heathrow has been problematic recently too.
  24. Hi I've completed our ArriveCan app for Sunday's arrival into Vancouver. I'm now offered the optional choice to complete an Advance CBSA declaration. What is this and is it worth doing just for 1 visit? Many thanks
